#Vestige not showing up as an instrument plugin

Using KDE Plasma 6.4.5 Wayland, Kubuntu 25.10. I have beginner knowledge on Linux.

I'm aware at this point that Vestige not showing up on KDE is a common problem, but I've heard both that I should download and configure Wine and also that I should use an AppImage from the LMMS website. I'm not really sure where to start, am I supposed to run the Windows version of LMMS from Wine? How am I supposed to use an AppImage? Also do let me know if this is something that's better answered by a basic search, honestly I'm too stressed to take in any more information at the moment.

Have Wine installed, get the nightly Appimage for Linux from the site or from links in #general pinned messages, run as you would on Windows

well, that's one problem solved. now I have to figure out why nothing's showing up when I open a .dll. All of the plugins are correct for the software, but I did use Bottles instead of Wine because I already have it set up for that. Is that a cause of a problem?

Likely yea. LMMS checks for existence of Wine, and I don't believe it does so for any offshoots like Bottles or Proton. I'm not entirely sure how the implementation is done but it should work with vanilla Wine installed without any tweaks

ah that fixed it. thank you!!

Sorry for continuing this chain again. I can submit a separate forum post if you want, but I am having another issue. The plugins work alright, except I can't interact with any of the GUIs to change knobs or presets. I couldn't really find an easy solution online for this.

Depends on the plugin. Some have issues with Wine, where it only updates after minimizing and remaximizing

Sinefactory, for example

the plugin window or the whole program?

Plugin window yea. Also disable plugin embedding in LMMS settings, otherwise you run into all sorts of issues
