I get this error anytime I try to open any vst with Carla, its always a different .so file depending on the vst in question (and yes, I have made sure these files are infact present on my system), I suspect I need to in some way point Carla at these files but I cant find a method for doing this anywhere within the Carla UI and I'm quite lost trying to figure it out, specifically I'm trying to get ToneZ and Vital to work, though the error is the same minus the specific file
#Carla Error: Cannot open shared object file: No such object or directory

Hi Amadachan, I'm new here, but have been using Carla without issues so far. What I do is just to navigate to the vst .so location on the left menu and double click the file. This loads it into the Carla rack, and then I can configure the specific vst using the cog icon on the rack itself.
Has your process been different from this?
FYI I'm using Ubuntu LTS and 1.3alpha.
ive been doing the same process, only i get the above error when i try double clicking
personally im running on mint and whatever flatpak gave me
im like 93% sure this is a case of flatpak bad
and if i just install it from anywhere else itll work fine
i tried to download the 1.3alpha appimage for testing purposes but it completely lacked carla
That's weird. Could you please also try the stable version (1.2.2) either using the appimage or from using the apt-get package manager, instead of flatpak? I wasn't able to find any reference to flatpak in the lmms website, so it might be fetching data from somewhere weird, I'm not sure.
if you go into other options it brings up flatpak, downloading 1.2.2 appimage now
