We did not have it at the time. I enjoy the challenge of working these things out more then tracing over 3D models even though that would have sped it up. I personally feel a sense of accomplishment in stuff like that.
I finished the concept designs of the tank then started into the promoart before the modeller (leon this time) started the ingame version.
I am not against using 3D models as a base, I understand it's use in production art. I did it on the promo art with the 2 BT's for the closer colonial BT. But if I have the option, aka no time constraints, Ill take the extra challenge.

@cosmic bough You're right, I had a mindset that more detail means more work and I had thought the uniforms were good on their own. Additional medals and utilities on the uniform would make it more decorative and special. I Just need to find a balance between straightforwardness, and decorative quality that a important military figure would/should have.

XD No offence taken. I was joking myself. I know what makes real life tank armour good and bad. Warden design has always included an element of being pompous. Adding what they think looks good vs what would be good IRL. They are full of themselves and think there way is the way when it comes to 'art'. We also want wardens to feel older. More inter war era.

@opal tendon references are always great, but what I wanted to say is: if you want smooth lines, you need to make them zoomed out and in one go, it takes a few tries, but you can always ctrl+z in an artprogram and redo it.

The point in the center is the vanishing point, the black line is the horizon line and the grey lines are orthogonal lines going towards the 1 vanishing point.

there are two ways to think a photoshop file
pixels and splines (vectors)
if you use the "shapes tool"
you can draw basic shapes and deform them
after clicking on this tool, if you look on the top left, on the tool detail bar, you will see some options

the left one creates a vector shape with color and stroke, the second one creates just a vector path (no color, no stroke) and the very last one draws the pixes, traight to the layer you have selected
