@high ledge so, good idea overall, never draw in 2d, always think it in 3d, the fact the eyes are not there, it makes me think that. No worries, there is always room for improvement. Seek shapes and try to adapt, slowly you learn this, but you need to start somewhere. Why I say this, the drawing is good, indeed, but man, the face looks flat, the ear is not well constructed and it is not round. Study muscles, start from there, the head has so many muscles, it is hard to work with them, but it is rewarding in long term. The binos are too small, arms are too small.
The thing down there, the same soldier but with a higher up hat is too close, make it look like a concept, try to get as many adaptation to that soldier as you can, make use of the space. Right now, it looks flat, 2d, but you are a big boy, you learn quickly, I have seen progress from you, so I am inclined to say the same progress can be made in this direction. You saw my last drawing on Thea Maro? If you need help with planes and stuff like that (even though I am not the best, I have problems too!!) I can help you start on the path. π No hard feelings but you needed someone to tell you this, after all, how can you improve if you don't get proper feedback. Also, in addition to what I said above, try to think the space between the soldier and the end of the paper so that he doesn't look like he is looking into a wall. Give him space to live, it is a drawing, there are rules of composition that you need to keep in mind, things that in real life look normal, while on paper and in composition/illustration/concept art they are completely different, use artistic eyes and logic at the same time. Think about lines. The drawing has so many static and vertical lines, it makes me think of a person without implication in the actual war. But that is just me, we all tend to see it different!! Try to start with traditional art and try to make ears, eyes, mouths, seek tutorials on youtube, start talking with an arts teacher (a very good on if possible) and seek his advice to guide you forward. I am doing the same and I slowly learnt from my mistakes. Hopefully, my feedback helps you and by no means it is a mean, destructive feedback, but a harsh one to motivate you to be the best, not just an artist in the community. Again, THE BEST. π Wanna see more and more, don't post like me, once in a month π see ya with the next one, I wanna see how you improve, i like your art!

Anatomy, perspective, form, etc are all foundational things to learn.
You can draw what you want, but also focus a lot on studies.
60 second form draws, anatomy study, etc. These will are the most important things to work on.
There is a mountain of info and resources out there.
Beginner stuff like Loomis and such work wonders for the absolute beginner.
I am a huge fan of Vilppu. :v

For example, if I was making something I considered to be a poster - I'd texture it to seem like it was made out of paper.
or if it was a decal, I'd texture it to look like it was something that was sprayed or painted onto a wall - like this.

@high ledge wow, good job, now, take every small bit and study it. Moustache, mouth, ear, nose, take all of them and understand the shape. I don't have sketches of my own, so I need to show you stuff from google, but you can find them up easily if you search "x planes" (x is mouth, nose, ear, etc.)
When you do this and take a reference picture as an example, you find it easier to understand where to put the shades, where to go wild and where to let it loose.
