@regal kindle they changed it because they were creating a new module for generating menus (versus the ordaniry every menu has to be custom made) as to save time and effort while testing and speed up making new menus. The mood at the time was thet for release, they mayhaps become custumized again
but I personally enjoy the new menu as it really eases up view with proper contrast

But as far as the rest of the war goes, I don't even know what they were trying to do in Greece, the Soviet Union... Well, every country of the Axis pretty much wanted a piece of that pie so I can't blame em. And then there's the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy and again I'd say that they fought for their homeland but still, can't really say anything good about it.
In general the way I see it the Italian men fought as much as they could but they could only do so much with bad leadership and old weapon systems.
I still campaigned for them to be added in Day of Infamy and CoH2 tho, as well as in CoH. There was even a planned Italian expansion for Company of Heroes but Relic scrapped it sadly in favor of CoH: Online, which then they also scrapped after an year. Waste of potential really, just a note that I'm not an Italian hater. I joke around more with the French 7 reverse gears on their tanks and white flags but still give them credit for WW1, Napoleon and them basically stopping the Blitzkrieg with their heavier Char Bis tanks.

The reason of why operation compass was a victory was because of the brittish motorized superiority, what they did was that they isolated great portions of the army
And even if some surrendered, you still have things like giarabub, where even when out of supplies and outnumbered they holded the line against a vast superior force

what im reading is... the italians were the best masterrace to exist, but life gave them bad cards. so its the weather, rommel and terrain that lost the war, not the italians inability to do something about it.
thats what makes them bad. germany and japan are seen as good because they fought off bigger numbers of enemies in enemy territory. france, italy and russia are seen as bad because they couldnt fight against a smaller enemy than them (in theyre OWN territory for russia and france)
now you can say that the french soldier wasnt bad, that not all frenchmen are cowards, but if you despite having bigger numbers and BETTER equipment lose against germany who was nudered by versaill (they were still powerful, but imagine how much more powerful the germans would be if theyre rearment was allowed to happen without it needing to be kept secret and in the low key during the start)
i dont hate italians @regal kindle , the opposite, they fought alongside the germans which were far supirior in equipment, and they held theyre head high despite losing battles that should have been a cakewalk (looking at greece) and when they saw that the war was unwinnable they did the smart thing and pulled out to prevent total destruction of the basin on the Po river (where i think, almost all of theyre industry is)
also i agree with you Luca that the germans didnt go into the balkans just to "help" italy. the cvetkovik-machek rezhim in yugoslavia which was an open ally to germany was deposed by the people (with some help from brittain) and was posing a serious threat, as british COULD land troops and have a soft underbelly, but in balkans instead of italy. so germany immediatly invaded yugoslavia. Theres a wonderful mini series by the serbs where i learned that the brits promised 6 infantry and 2 motorized divisons, but only 2 or 3 arrived

@analog pike the italian army in russia (the ARMIR) performed exelently in the eastern front, being the spearhead of the axis forces in ukraine and being the ones that holded the line in stalingrad while the rumanians and the germans ran for their lives
The regia aeronautica has one of the best performances of all the combatants in the eastern front

But in all seriouness tho it's my favorite anime and I recommend for any tankers to watch it.
Plot is weak but the tank action is on point and there's numerous historical references as well which are sort of subtle.
I seriously don't follow or rewatch any other Anime as close as this one.

I personaly have watched all episodes and the movie, GuP is pretty meh imho. It is neat to see a quite niche anime topic, but that is where it stays. The tank action is near gundum mecha fights, but without the actual cool robots. Story isnt much more to write home about. One of the poorer of animation series I have watched, single worst one I have finished as to note. Don't get me wrong, I see why some people would enjoy this, but I don't really. And for the record, I am a fan of tanks. I have played hundreds if not thousands of hours in tank games, I have been to musea in many countries, I have read a shit ton about them, I can reckonigse them from small details. If you are looking for real tanks, this is not your thing; watch it if you play WoT and think that is historical accurate.

But there's seriously a big lack of tanks in media so I take whatever I can get. Lots of people also shit on Fury but tell me of another tank centered movie like it in quality and arguably, realism? And yes, the final SS scene does not make sense, I admit, but the rest of the movie I think was fine, plus they used a real running Tiger in the form of the 131.
There's also stuff like the Beast of War or whatever about that T55 Russian crew in Afghanistan, Sahara with the M3 Lee, Saints and Soldiers the Void with the M18 Hellcats but seriously, what other good tank movies are there? Not much.

I think the tank action is the oposite of what tank related media should display; but that is my opinion and you are entitled to think different. I personally feel like modern tank games has created too much of a weird representation of what tanks embody. They are large thin cans which can engulf in fire at any moment, and you can't "snapshot" or go "corner shooting" with that thing as it simply would require too much coordination. To expect a full realistic approuche is foolish, that wouldnt make a good movie, but to let people just make movies for the sole purpose of "tanks are cool, see what this one can do" is just lame money grabbing.
If you gonna use real life tanks, make them like real life tanks @lavish fox

@buoyant crest I have already read 2 books about Tiger tanks and 1 about a Panzer officer's experience during the war, reading a 3rd Tiger tank book right now even so you're assumption that I don't read is well and truly, false.
And my dad was a tanker, so I grew up around the knowledge and interest in tanks. Even beyond that I take great interest in WW2 which was mostly dictated by tank warfare so there's that as well. So yes, I'll gladly take anything and everything with tanks and I wish more to made of.
And as much as you infantry boys say that they're just boxes on treads with long guns that's simply not true. A crack tank crew can do more than what an infantry squad can in the same time, plus a crew is a well knit and tight team, rarely will you see new faces there.
