the difference between a finished and unfinished model for warhammer

note the detail on the trench and note how the soldiers are completely grey

only saying this after some back and forward with some people

basically they start as a sprue which is how they were cast (image for reference)

and from there you paint them and add bits to make them look like the trench arround the soldiers / however you want..

THe project owner commissioned me a "mid-poly" asset

so yeah For a low poly model I would have done less than 2k tris

but since it was possiblre to get more, I took some liberty and added soem details 😃

I mean hinges, hatch grip, lamp and cockpit bars

could have all been done with textures and height map

but since I was able to modelized them, it saved me some time from texturing 😃

oh did I tell you guys the story of me introducing Foxhole to my brother? I explained all the stuffs he needed to know while he walks around on a deserted skirmish server (rest in piss skirmishes). And there is like 2~3 wardens on the enemy team so I tell him go over to their base and kill one of them, because I was done after 30 mins of explaining all the mechanics. So he walks over, gets hit by a garrison, tries to return fire (garrison is like may I have some Collie blööd bröther), he goes for cover under my instructions, sneaks to their weapon factory and he sees 2 guys with a truck making stuff. He stands up, aims, fires, misses, mag empty, runs, stabs one of them with a bayonet. So proud that my brothers first kill is with a bayonet.

I mean generally, while anime is not at all bad, starting with it and using construction methods most used in going directly into anime isn't necessarily the best thing. It seems like you are trying to go directly into anime by just copying style and what amounts to symbols of other anime artists instead of extrapolating from your own knowledge. i just look at a lot of weeb art and get inspired to it
i use construction lines but try my best to draw without reference when i can

but i do get inspired by my favorite artists so i try to imitate their style, or try to find out what it is about them that i like so much

but i like sketching things like buildings and various structures

Uhhh that is the wrong way of learning art. You need to learn fundamentals, do art studies, and other general anatomy and such. "Dont like anything other than anime" is not an excuse to do real life studies.

You need to understand, style needs to be developed and should be a more advanced thing after you have foundational skill.

Style shouldn't be what you can only draw, it should be what you want to draw.

Good news then. Studies should be more realistic. But those studies are separate from your regular drawings. I say do studies and apply what you learn to your regular drawings.

Yeah. Studies are absolutely helpful, more so than trying to add them directly into your artwork, which can skew and just make it difficult. Anatomy is really the most important.

@high ledge (((a bit late to the talk, but ok))) The basic anatomy is very very important, makes drawings easier and faster. What most people trying to learn manga/anime drawing don't knoe/forget is that the best drawers of their genre have learned anatomy too. And i dont mean that Da Vinci basic stuff, I mean years and years of training drawing realistic people and just making thousands of repeated drawings. Now I wont tell you to do that too, but having that basic will ease up the process so much. I always can see which drawings have used a sketch and which are eye-balled (without sketch). A tip from me: just get some simple pictures and trace every body part (I preffer the ovals method, some do joint and lines, some do blocks, many more). And it takes a few minutes so you can do it everytime before you start drawimg and it helps a shit ton. Before I start any big drawing I always make a few concepts on small papers and some blank line sketches to see if everything works, because once you startputting in effort, it will become harder to correct it (altough computer drawing eases up things, hence I dont try to draw everything on it)
