I recall a dev talking about how they wanted a more contextual use functionality for their cryengine game than the standard use key, but in order to do so they first had to root it out all the way down to the core of the game engine.
It's little stories like that, that make me think that if we really want a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout experience, they're going to really need to go ham on their engine and not just upgrade the graphics and put a few more bandaids on it.

Even if you're lucky and the nodes are not empty, you still have to either steal a truck or build one yourself and then drive across 2 or more maps in order to make and deliver the stuff
And the town you first spawn in usually doesn't have any trucks or vehicle factories, so you have to run your ass off
