`Pink Unicorn Destroyer MKII (PUD/II) was an American experimental medium tank. The PUD/II only saw action later in the war. It featured dual guns based off a captured German 8.8 cm Pak 43, and had an additional loader. Due to the second gun, the turret needed to be much larger, and as a result, the tank was nearly twice the width of a Sherman. Even though this tank was physically larger, the armor remained similar to a Sherman, as did the overall speed and maneuverability, as there was more room for mechanical components due to the size. Keeping the armor to the same thickness as a Sherman meant the tank remained relatively light compared to its power. Still, the size of the PUD/II created a logistical issue and tactical issue, where the Allies were not relying on the power of their gun, but instead on the quantity of armor and the tactics employed. Often, PUD/IIs were retasked to more menial tasks such as bunker clearing, and advancing infantry support. A PUD/IIB was later created to better fulfill this task, replacing one of the two 8.8cm cannons with a flamethrower. By having enough crew to operate these simultaneously, and the length of the flamethrower barrel, the PUD/IIB excelled at clearing bunkers. It employed a tactic known to its crew as the "Fire Punch". The crew would spray flames onto the bunker, particularly any openings and over the top of it, then immediately fire a round directly into the bunker. This was then followed up with more flames. German infantry manning these bunkers were known to surrender immediately after witnessing the destruction and deaths of their fellow soldiers."
