#Which classes are most fun? [subjective]

I'm a returning player, and it's been several years since I've played. I'm starting fresh on a new account with nothing unlocked.

I'm curious, with the classes and specs as they are now, which do you personally find the most fun? Which ones are less fun, or even unfun?
I realize this would be different for everyone, but I'm still curious what you all think, and why.

I'm currently playing a Inquisitor marauder, which I was shocked (shocked!) to discover I could play. But I'm not married to the character, and might wind up leveling something else.

Since dual classing is a thing, for bonus points, what makes a great two class combination, particularly in terms of having fun? Fun > all. Meta is irrelevant, I'm just here to enjoy the story.

Personally the only one I'm "meh" on is commando/merc, and the rest are fun

My mains are Knight Sage/Juggernaut, Consular Marauder/Assassin, Trooper Sniper/Operative, and Smuggler Vanguard/Mercenary

#

I do not really care for mara/senti though

I like all of those too except merc

#

Sentinel too

#

lol

I just dont vibe with any of their specs tbh

#

I tried but it just feels meh to me, even if they are very strong specs

Some people like to pair a combat style that can tank with one that can heal, so they have all 3 roles on one char

I've googled, this, btw, and found almost universal preference for juguardians over martinels.

Jugg/guardian is more beginner-friendly

Jug/Guard is just easier to play

I enjoy challenging classes, incidentaly, though I also love being able to tank and or heal.

#

What makes Marauder harder and Jug easier?

clear tide
#

Mara has 3 dps specs that all play differently and have some pretty long rotations. Jug has only 2 dps specs and one is so easy that you dont even need a rotation really

#

Vengeance is super beginner friendly

#

While also being very strong

How easy or hard are the various tank and healing specs, relative? And who's the most fun to tank or heal on? In y'alls opinions, of course.

stark palm
#

healing-- they're all easy. but sorc you can do the same rotation in single target/aoe situations and be fine. merc is 2nd easiest after sorc. operative is difficult for most

#

tanking specs.. either jugg/pt , assassin has dark ward which you must maintain throughout the whole fight. while min-maxing moments in time where you can let it break for dps increase (tree passive)

#

but assassin is easy as well.

#

you don't really need any cloak out "cheeses" in any of the legacy nim raids.

Nim?

clear tide
#

Nightmare mode/master mode

#

Hardest difficulty

And legacy means old content?

Yes

as for fun healers:
do you like to only heal and press green buttons? sorc.
do you like to off-dps while healing at range? merc.
do you like to off dps as melee and have strong aoe heals? op

tanks.
do you want the iconic warrior experience? jugg
do you want to wield a dual saber and have high shield chance & a suplmentary absorb, also having great movement abilities(great for kiting bestia nim council)? assasin
do you want to be a strong tank with passive increases to armour and absorb, but weaker against internal/elemental damage, but also having the chance to minmax cd's for dps/ehps increases? powertech

#

What kind of fun do you want to experience?

I like hots and shields, and decision making when I heal. Triage.
For tanking, anything goes, but mobile tanks are the most fun.

#

I wound up rolling a shadow, consular story.

#

I know it's considered one of the weaker ones, but I've finished it and think it's criminally underrated.

#

Also the Jedi Knight story gives me bad memories of accidentally starting a romance with Doc, trying ot break it off repeatedly and having him constantly come on to me no matter how many times I said "No"

#

Oh, and I like resource management, and yes, dpsing as a healer is fun.

#

I'm most recently used to FFXIV healing, where every GCD not spent healing is used for dps, and you prioritize off gcd heals first, gcd heals when needed.

#

But they have very simplistic dps rotations for healers, consisting of a hot, a single target filler, and an aoe filler. Some healers have an extra dps spell usable under certain conditions.

sounds like operative heals would fit. There's lots of hot effects.

  • kolto probe, a single target hot that you maintain on targets taking damage
  • recuperative nanotech, a multi target hot (also strong in single target situations)
  • toxic haze, an aoe damaging ability that is also your strongest aoe heal also HoT

And shadow was a great choice for tanking
