So I recently got to level 80 for the first time and I’m doing the Hyde and zeek quest to deconstruct the 336 prototype. I was wondering what’s the fastest way to get this item? And also for my earpiece do I just buy one from the operations gear vendor and same for the relics?

Fastest way to get a prototype/blue piece is a bit debatable, you either buy and upgrade a flashpoint piece or an operations piece. To get the respective currency you just do that content a lot, I think it’s 25-30 flashpoints and 25 ops if you don’t do any weeklies, closer to 11 if you do only weeklies. Personally I recommend operations since it can be faster, a more interesting challenge, and you will need the knowledge regardless if you wanna do harder operations
Earpiece and relics are as you say, buy them from ops vendor (or fp vendor) and upgrade. But you also get upgrade caches from doing ops weeklies which gives an upgraded version of your worst piece. Since getting perfect gear isn’t suuuper important unless you’re getting right into hardmode ops, you can save them until you’ve gotten Hyde and zeek and get a head start with some green stuff (I think caches from sm ops weeklies give green)
Oh and ye, for artifact/purple stuff you need to do hardmode ops for it to drop, or buy one from ops vendor and upgrade as usual

Personally I don’t think it’s necessary to get gear faster than ops will get you the gear, and as mentioned you will get valuable experience in grinding ops for when you want purple 336 and tech frags
