If your a sub then gearing doesn't matter untill you hit 330 tbh. (Level 80) So save your credits unless u like PvP as that's capped different gear

do you mean stats wise or aesthetics wise? because if you want stats, your stats hardly matter until youre lvl 80 unless youre doing pvp content. if you mean aesthetics? you can check the collections tab for lightsabers and then search ones you like on the GTN. or grind drops. once you hit a certain level you unlock equipment crates that can be cashed in once youve played through KOTFE which have pretty snazzy gear, although im not sure if they drop weapons.

how would i go about getting better gear at lvl 80?

there is a scrapping icon in your inventory by the crafting materials button. you have to be a certain level to use it

is there any point lvling my lightsaber?

im now lvl 52

again, at these levels your equipment hardly matters. if you want to keep your saber though, i suggest you equip it to a customization slot
