I have played SWTOR in the past as a Sith Warrior and have gotten to alderaan before quitting. I have returned and started a new character - a sith inquisitor which story i am enjoying quite a lot. When i played through Kortiban and Dromund Kass I have skipped side content and even the planet story as I have already finished those plenty amount of times trying out different classes in the past. The main story seems to have progressed a lot quicker and the pacing seems a whole lot better. Now I do not want to skip out on content I have yet to do, but does skipping side quests (doing just class and primary) impact my story later on? I have noticed I'm not getting nearly as much light and dark alignment points and have no idea if that will be an issue.

alignment has really no effect in the vanilla story tbh
it does matter much more in the expansions
you can ignore the yellow quests anyway and just do the purple ones( planetary arcs and class story) and you will be lv50 ish by the time you have your final boss fight ( assuming you didn't join a guild and use xp boost, which if u did, should be loads higher)
Would i still be able to get that alignment up for the expansions if i skip the side quests for the first 4/5 plantes?
yeah, for alignment stuff you really just need to be dark 1 or light 1
i have an all-darkside Jedi, and only have like dark 4, by the time i finished everything, depending on your background, if you meet a dark1/light1 threshhold, the game will do an alignment check and can change the outcome of the final story, however the main thing for allignment is allowing you to buy things from the darkside/lightside vendor on fleet
and those items are purely costemic, just to add
Okay thank you a lot!
