Hi everyone. I run a very small YouTube Shorts channel focused on ATI TEAS exam prep for nursing students (it’s entrance exam to take upper-level nursing courses like pharmacology).

The channel launched 3/31/26. Several Shorts reached 300–900 views immediately, but after taking a 12-day break my newer videos are mostly getting 15–70 views.

I’m looking for honest feedback on:

  1. Whether the issue is the thumbnails/hooks/content itself.
  2. Whether the channel simply needs more time and consistency. Or whether I should start a new channel?
  3. Whether my newer Shorts are noticeably weaker than the ones that previously reached 300–900 views.

Channel: @ATITEASStudyStream

Recent examples:

  • Somatic vs Autonomic Nervous System (70 views, 120% average viewed)
  • Sympathetic vs Parasympathetic Nervous System (14 views, 36.6% average viewed)

Any brutally honest feedback is appreciated.

Nice feedback post! Please keep in mind that all feedback is provided out of the good will of the community, so it may take some time for you to get a response.

Please avoid reposting or begging members in other channels to check out this thread.

If you receieve no feedback at all, consider that as feedback in a sense.

Seems silly to give up so early. I started my first channel a couple weeks ago, and my shorts got 1500-2000 views each. The last 3 shorts I've posted, have all tanked harder, at under 400 views or less.

It could be that youtube inflates the numbers on your first shorts, in order to encourage new members, but maybe not, who knows. I'd just do what I'm trying to do, which is focus on quality more. I improved my quality alot despite not getting better views, but I learnt heaps about editing and felt better about the video

As for whether its the hook or not, if you don't have enough views for the stats, take a look at AVD versus swiped away percentage. If your AVD is decent despite high swipe away, its your hook (or lack of one). If it's the opposite, then you aren't delivering on your hook

120% AVD is good, so I'd say its your hook. But also, maybe it just takes time for youtube to learn your audience, and maybe you just need to churn out some more content for a bit before taking pause to reflect. Might be better served with more experience rather than more introspection at this point in time.
