#Is exporting at 1440p worth it when using 1080p footage? Videos turn out soft/blurry.

I've been editing my youtube videos in DaVinci Resolve and noticed my exports look a bit soft/blurry. I record my gameplay and camera in 1080p, but I've been exporting at 1440p because I've heard that youtube uses a better codec for anything above 1080p. Was that a mistake?

Here are my current export settings:

  • Format: QuickTime

  • Codec: H.264

  • Encoder: Auto

  • Resolution: Timeline Resolution (1920x1080)

  • Frame Rate: 60fps

  • Encoding Profile: Auto

  • Key Frames: Automatic

  • Preset: Quality

  • Rate Control: Quality

  • Quality: Best

Should I just export at native 1080p? Or is there a way to make the 1440p export work without losing sharpness? Is there anything wrong with my current settings I should change? Thanks a lot for your help!

Here's a video of mine for reference: https://youtu.be/2SbTgp1szCY?si=rMK28fbLkWZ0T1LT

Can you get the same video, export it again as 1080 and upload as an unlisted video to see how the quality looks?
