In my video there is a sudden strong drop off in retention at the beginning.

my videos in general have strong drop offs in the beginning. Except for the Jojo videos. They still have those drop offs but not as sharp and strong as in the non-jojo videos I have.

In general it seems youtube would like me to make more jojo content but I want to be more various with my content

Any help is appreciated. Ty

Special Thanks go out to my friends @fortunateramen and steamfire for being my scriptsupervisors

I'd say the first 11 seconds are totally irrelevant and could've been a pinned comment - someone clicking for the title / thumbnail would be like ???

Generally, you want the intro of a video to hook people in, some people tell users what's gonna happen, some dive straight into the crust of it, some do a highlight reel

ig thats what i was trynna do with the "alternative ending" thingy but i see in hindsight i could have had the primm hood cinema thing at the end

asides that, is there anything else I can add to the intro? I mean if I just cut off the beginning and got right into it, does that still make the video better?

Plus that helped me learn which bits to just remove outright in editing.

sure but i think ill still try and edit out the intro just to see if it impacts it. But ty for your advice

also btw how do you figure out if your video uh is good? I have my friends watch em but they are maybe a bit baised because yknow theyre my friends so they cant see what parts they wouldnt like

# vast tusk also btw how do you figure out if your video uh is good? I have my friends watch...

I wouldn't have my friends watch anything on YT they normally wouldn't. The algorithm is a freaky thing and at this phase you need it to figure out your audience on its own (check the "audience" tab for new viewers, casuals, regulars, that's the algorithm learning who likes your stuff)

If your friends watch your stuff, then go ahead and watch something completely unrelated, that's a signal you don't want the algorithm to have.

Generally, you learn what works by doing exactly what you're doing (good job!) - by looking at the charts and deciding to improve on them.

yippie :D ty. I did notice I have a pretty big uh jojo influx of people. Like youtube especially pushes my jojo related content

#

Ig the issue of it all is also me. I want to make videos on not just jojo. Like on Fnaf and Movies i like and such

#

ig i can try and tap in all of them?

@vast tusk there's no harm in double-dipping on jojo and establishing yourself before branching out to other stuff your audience will care about. Anime is a vast world of evergreen content.
