Hello, my name is Jimmy, and I run a YouTube channel focused on horror games. I create Let’s Plays of different titles in this genre.

I’d love some feedback on my videos so I can improve the experience for viewers.

One of the things that makes my channel different is how I start each Let’s Play. Instead of jumping straight into the game, I open with a short cinematic poem that introduces the game’s story, sometimes even told from the perspective of the protagonist. My goal is to give each video a more episodic feeling, almost like a series.

That said, I know people’s time is limited, so I wonder if viewers might prefer I skip straight to the gameplay. Personally, I’d love to make this my channel’s signature. Over time, I’d even like to involve my community and maybe feature poems written by viewers in future videos.

After the poem, I show a quick “coming up” teaser with one of the best moments, whether that’s a jumpscare, a funny clip, or something I think will hook viewers. It’s always short. Do you like this idea? Or would you prefer if I switched the order, teaser first and then the poem?

Once we’re in the gameplay, I tend to use a lot of zoom-ins for dramatic effect. Do you enjoy this editing style, or would you prefer a lighter touch? I also sometimes add reverb to my voice during jumpscares or funny moments. Do you like that effect, or does it feel like too much?

For the outro, I usually ask viewers what they thought of the game, encourage likes and subscriptions, and recommend two related videos to watch next.

With this post, I’m just hoping to gather overall feedback on structure, editing, audio, visuals, effects, my personality, and anything else you notice.

Here’s my latest video if you’d like to check it out:

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Jimmy

Lost Luminosity pulls you into a family secret that refuses to stay buried.

After his mother’s death, Sam inherits her apartment, an inheritance that feels more like a curse. Neighbors whisper of strange noises behind empty walls, of movements when no one should be there. Drawn by grief and unanswered questions, Sam steps inside, and the sile...

Ooow thank you I was really doubting if it would add anything or that people would hate it. I always put a lot of work in that cinematic intro. So I’m glad you liked it! Thanks for the feedback.

Solid work on the intro, everything else kind of felt slow. Def speed up the process of getting to the scary part in the beginning. Or like a storytime to help engage and immerse into the game rather than looking around and saying what you see. You got this man, you will improve for sure!

Thank you for your feedback. Some people on Reddit video editors and someone from VidIQ said I better place the intro in the end. Because they say it looks like a trailer and some may think ooh that’s a trailer and click away. Futhermore I like more the old style let’s play. Honestly I’ve cut out more than 25 minutes looking when I was lost out of this episode. How would you do it or how do you see it to speed it up? I still want them to give the whole game tho. So not skipping key parts.

I also can incorporate timestamps so that people can skip it. I don’t know just an idea.
