I feel like my commentary isn't engaging enough, but I'm confident in my editing, which I feel carries the video. Any tips would be appreciated! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7wx14p5iIk&ab_channel=☆333james333☆

I use a tier system for feedbacks! This saves both of us time and lets you focus on improvement a your scale (ie, I wont help you in discusing thumbnail 's contrast if your video's hook is horrific, your videos lack value, etc)
3 issues in a section, 5 throughout, or 1 MAJOR issue and the review stops! We dont want to overwhelm you!

Feel free to ask any questions!! I'll try to keep this as brief as I can!!
There are 8 tiers in all (including a tier 0). Most brand new creators land in tier 1-3.
Don't worry if you're in a lower tier, that just means there's something here to work on!

Labeling System:

  • ✴️ :: N/A, unknown, or not graded
  • ✅ :: Good!!
  • ☑️ :: Could be improved or is "just ok"
  • 🔻 :: Issue Found
  • 🛑 :: Major Issue

☑️ - Lighting Quality*(No unnecessary shadows, overexposure, or darkness)*
🔻 - Camera Work*(Framing is stable, no shaking, properly positioned)*
☑️ - Visual Sharpness*(No blur, pixelation, or bad rendering)*
🛑 - Clear Audio*(No muffled, distorted, or low-quality audio)*
🛑 - Balanced Levels*(No jumps/dips or large gaps in levels)*
🛑 - Background Noise & SFX*(No overpowering ambient sounds or SFX)*
🛑 - Music Use*(Background music is properly leveled and appropriate)*
🛑 - No Technical Audio Issues*(No audio crackling, peaking, or mismatched sync)*

Ok lets pull back, take a breath, and go through this even and calm. DO NOT WORRY, it LOOKS realllllly bad, it's not as bad as it looks. My grading system is very brutal with audio issues because theyre one fo the biggest reasons people leave YT videos, but luckily theyre also SUPER easy to fix

Your videos need improvement in audio because you're too quiet, the music is too quiet, the bg is too loud, and we're missing your voice at times!

You (or your editor) need/s to learn:

  • Audio balancing
  • Audio normalization
  • Loudness normalization

From there, remember these numbers:

  • Audio needs balanced so it is NEVER louder than -3 ish db (mixed)
  • Audio is normalized so your speaking noice is about -12 through -10 MAYBE dipping to -8 to -6 for short bursts, when nessecary for loudness (like screaming). Music/bga is around -30 to -25 db. Everything else is kinda playable with.
  • Loudness need to be AS CLOSE TO -14 LUFS as POSSIBLE. Otherwise, youtube will mannual force your audio to be, which causes crazy changes if youre far off (youtube dropped your audio by about -13.7 dbs, which is HUGE!! You cna check this number in the stats for nerds pop up on your videos or by running a Loudness normalization and calculating how much youtube will adjust (not nessecary imo, if you're at or close to -14 youll be fine)
