#Static audio feedback on OBS recording

I tried posting this on Reddit, but a fliter removed it? Anyways...

Hi! Okay, I’m using OBS for a gaming channel. Both of the videos I’ve filmed so far get a staticky audio feedback noise. It’s kind of minor, but noticeable. It happens towards the end of the video. It's fine until the last 10 minutes. How do I fix this?

Audio samples of the problem would help!

It's not present the entire time you're recording? Could be a lot of things, I start unplugging shit when I get interference, that's always step 1. Otherwise you can probably just EQ it out in Resolve or whatever you're using to edit

nope, its only present about 37 ish minutes in. let me cut a sample out and post it here! @sick anchor

Oh fuck yeah that's a weird one lmao

What's your setup here, is that a USB mic or are you using an interface?

#

I guess either way the first thing to try is a different cable. And also a different PC if you can

Also if you have your phone near you when you're recording, try just, fuckin, throwing it on the other side of the room as far away as possible while you're filming to eliminate interference from that

It's definitely some kind of interference

#

Which sucks cause that's gonna be a straight hardware problem you'll have to trial and error fix. If you CAN replicate the issue, get the static going and then just one by one eliminate things from your setup until it goes away. Hope that makes sense!

I've had my computer monitors cause interference before when using HDMI, switching to DP only fixed it. Just random things like that will cause this shit

thanks so much ❤️

Good luck! Start with those cables! Could be the easiest fix

I'm just spitballing here, but could it also possibly be moisture buildup in the mic? With what you said about it only occurring later in videos, and the absence of any pop filter or plosive covering between your mouth and the mic, is it possible for moisture to buildup and cause this type of interference? (I'm not an expert and don't even know if this is a thing, so if anyone can provide additional insight, that would be much appreciated 🫶)

Haha that'll be good for those plosives 😅
That's probably not what it is - it's gonna take a lot longer recording and a lot more spit to cause that to happen. But either way hell yeah, pop filter time lol
