I posted a short yesterday and so far has not got any views. With the new update to shorts views this was kind of suprising to me. Any ideas why it wouldn’t have done well? It is my 3rd content on my channel and the other two were videos, maybe that has something to do with it?

Uploading videos and shorts together shouldn't be an issue. A lot of channels do that and as far as I know they are treated differently anyway. So let's say your long form videos were very successful, your shorts can still tank and vice versa. That won't be the problem.
Since you only uploaded it yesterday: Give it time. Sometimes videos take time before they are getting pushed out. It's annoying and frustrating, but unfortunately nothing we can do about it.
Also, your channel is still pretty new, so youtube won't prioritize it when pushing out content / still needs time to figure out who to push it out to. Again, give it time and more data (i.e., more content / videos) to do its thing.
