Hey guys, would love some feedback on my current strategy for Let's Play videos.
I'm currently cutting them down into hyper condensed videos, getting rid of all the dead air. My aim is usually to get 2 hours of gameplay footage down to a 25-30min video but I try to make sure that the game story and action is still shown, what do you think? Is this a good strategy or do people want to watch the whole thing in Let's Play videos? My thinking is that people could watch my videos and still get the whole game story with all the action in 1/4 of the time....

Hi, thanks for watching Part 1 of this Gotham Knights series on the PS5. This video was recorded and uploaded in 4K video resolution with 60 fps.

In this video we will be beginning the investigation to find out what really happened to Batman. I've decided to start the story as the Red Hood but I will be switching to other characters as the ser...

I would make sure your in the shot from the moment the video starts, I was a but concerned this was 0 commentary game play.

Try and edit down your game play to just the juicy parts or when you say or do something entertaining. It was over 12 mins I belive before we got to any game play.

I think adding let's play to the title of gaming videos dates them a but now. I don't belive most people are trying to watch an entire game without buying it themselves.

I like your thumbnail. I personally need to invest in some software to do similar stuff with mine.

Keep at it my guy!

Thanks for the feedback man, that's really helpful! It was unfortunate alright that this game had a big 10 minute cut scene at the start, I would normally like to dive straight in with a bit of action but didn't want to leave the cut scene out either so it was a bit of a catch 22... When you say people aren't watching an entire game, do you mean that it's more about the player and their reaction to the game that people want to see? I notice as well that, part 2, 3, 4 etc. don't get near as many views as part 1, was thinking is it even worth making those vids, are people happy just seen the first couple of hours of gameplay and that's it. I did that thumbnail in photoshop alright, I got the entire Adobe suite for 20€ a month I think, it's definitely worth it imo but I also think you could make a thumbnail like that with the free software like GIMP or something too....

Also, just checked out your channel, was that your first vid? It's really well done, good job man! Just subbed and will be copying some of your techniques 😆

If you have a big cut scene at the start you can't avoid you could always try throwing a brief teaser in of a good moment! And yeah I think whatever you add to the gameplay will help you stand out over the rest! I know I'm not able to sit down and watch an entire lp most of the time, so I suspect that many others are in a similar boat. People more often look for a livestream for that kind of content so they can interact with you. If you think about a channel like dunkeys, he's able to get a ton of views by injecting his personality into the game, even when he was playing lol (the competitive nature of which tends towards pro gamers) he made you stay with his personality. Most of the time he only has a few videos per game, so don't feel pressured to show your viewers everything! Thanks for the feedback btw! It was my first video and editing it all together was tough so I'm glad you liked it! I might try out gimp for my next thumbnail, I'm not 100% sold on mine.

Ya, I think I’m gonna focus more on getting my personality across instead of making sure the game story makes sense… I think it was really good the way you kept jumping your profile footage to full screen and then back, that really plays well in the vid. Your thumbnail is good, just looks a bit basic. If you want to dm me the two images I’ll remove the background from your profile and add some drop shadow and stuff, might stand out a bit more…
