#What can I do to improve this thumbnail?

I would possibly use a different font but my personal preference is for really basic fonts so I'm a little biased. I think adding a slightly thicker black outline to the text+ a white outline to the person would probably make it look a little better but it already looks pretty good
Sans fonts are designed to be easy to read, personally I always stick with some sort of sans font.
Another thing that I think might make it really effective is to replace your head and face with a "power" character from Nintendo. If I see someone who I have no idea who they are, I'm way less likely to click that than I am Mario
i agree with the font, but that's not even my head lol. it's the head of Scott The Woz. I'll probably redo it and change it to mine, but it's a thumbnail for a cover of a song he made for a big video, so it appeals to his audience mostly
i was going for trying to replicate his thumbnail style for this video
I'm not your audience so I dunno what your power people are, but I'd expect a video about Nintendo games to hone in on a popular character
ahh i get what you mean. thank you!
I’d like to start by saying it’s a VERY good start, you’re showing some really good understanding of laying out your thumbnail well!
What I would say would make it look better is just adding to what you’ve got, make the background slightly blurrier, make the text a little more legible, drop shadow the d’s games in the back, maybe ad a few more to fill up the empty spaces like at your left side
I’d love to get on a call and point it out a little easier
