#Voiceovers, good or no?

I just posted my first video with a voiceover and I’m looking for feedback on pacing and dialogue. It’s about my travels through France. The footage was taken last summer/fall and at that time I had no idea I’d want to make a YT channel so I had to craft a story arc around the footage I already had.

Is this a good voiceover? Quality but also content? Do you generally prefer people speaking directly to the camera in real time, splicing in video kind of narrating what’s going on, or just a voiceover?

The channel is Seeing New Sights.

Thank you!!

Thought it was really good storytelling of your trip especially for it being improvised after the fact, the pace of the voiceover was perfect in my opinion and the footage is super good. Really like the music+editing. It would be better imo to cut out the humming/background noise from the car footage which is the only issue I had with the vid

My bad if you got weird notifications for that I typed notes in docs and then pasted it in here to format better and accidentally hit enter

Ah thank you, that is super helpful! I’m still learning a lot about music and sound and noise, what to leave in or reduce or get rid of. Thank you so much!

I watched it only because i live in France, but It was a really great video / voiceover in the end 🙂 voiceover is perfect don’t change anything, the music balance is good. I would actually let the humming from the car footage because it contributes as sound design to the scene (like the keys sound in the door I liked that). I guess it’s a matter of viewer preference here, I’m very sensitive to small bits of sound design here and there ☺️
The one thing I would do though is remove more of the breaths between some of your sentences in post prod. I could hear them and it deterred me a liiiitlle bit, but were really talking small nitpicks here
Good job I’ll be rooting for you

Well I just subbed hoping you’ll be bringing more 😊

I wouldn’t worry about better audio gear at this point, you’re still very early in the adventure, I’d rather say focus on the viewer experience in the video through the balance of voiceover, music and sound and pushing content regularly 🙂
Also now that I’m looking on a 2k screen, If you’re planning to do more of those videos I’d recommend a gimbal at some point for stabilization,
but damn I love how you mix the music and the videos
Oh yeah I’ll look up more cities for you 😊

And with the humming I would kind of agree with what andfanilo says about it being able to add some ambience to the clip but I would do an audio normalization on it to make it a bit quieter and/or fade it in

Its really good and it ended up telling a story

maybe you could add like 2 or 3 background music, just a thought tho
