So I'm brand new to sigmar, playing my first game Friday.

I really wanna play kastellai, I LOVE the blood knight cavalry and I love the idea of vampires fighting alongside hordes of undead. I'm not TOOO worried about making an insanely optimized to the max list, just something fun.

So I already have -
Crimson court (with a 40mm magnetized base for duvalle to make him a vamp lord)
Cado Ezechiar
A necromancer
Askurgan trueblades
40 skeletons
Only 20 zombies right now (I want way more)
10 blood knights

And I have access to a vengorian lord and a terrorgheist via a friend

So here's the golden question

What are some things I should absolutely get next or things to aim for to fill out a solid list that's really fun?

I think your current top priority as an aspiring Kastelai player should be a Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon (VLoZD, as he is commonly referred to). Absolutely essential for that style of list

yep. Kastelai generally features a bit less of the sort of grindy chaff type units that SBGL is usually known for because youre leaning hard into those tankier elites with the blood knights and the VLOZD. You want enough screener type stuff to keep enemy elites occupied until youve got a couple of your units powered up

the Trueblades are solid in Kastelai, because not only do they get their usual +1A for killing a monster, they get an additional +1 damage so if you can down a monster with them they really go super saiyan. Generally speaking the ideal target for a unit of blood knights or VLOZD is for your opponent to have a couple small heroes (nice that the new GHB incentivizes them) and if possible, gobble them up relatively unchallenged so that then either one of your blood knights units or your VLOZD is at +1 damage and ready to start taking on your opponents big elite stuff.

of course, as long as you give your commander the "Rousing Commander" trait, you can have the +1 damage ability once per battle at will. i'd say this one is pretty important for making sure your units dont get caught off guard by an opponent forcing a fight on you early, before youre able to power up
