A primary weapon for the medic based on the single-barrel shotgun from TFC & TF.
I'm aware that a primary shotgun for medic has been tested in the past (could have just been stock shotgun but I'm not too sure) and it simply wasn't healthy for the game. Giving medic reliable ranged damage that can consistently kill players ends up dragging attention away from the medic's primary role in the team. I believe a medic shotgun can work if it was a different weapon from the stock shotgun and if it sucked donkey balls

 * Same spread as stock shotgun
 * Base damage of 40 (10 pellets, each deal 4 damage)
 * Maximum damage ramp-up of 120%
 * Same damage falloff as stock shotgun
 * Clip size of 8 with a reserve of 14
 * Attack interval of 0.5 seconds
 * First reload of 1 second, consecutive reload of 0.75 seconds. Medic sucks ass at handling firearms that aren't doohickeys```
The goal of this weapon is to give Medic an option for more consistent self-defense damage at the cost of longer reloads, which could overlap with time you could have spent healing if you were using the syringe gun with its faster reload (if you are loading more than one shell). I've also tried to not make it too powerful to reduce the number of feral medics charging the frontlines and dying instantly.

i think a med shotgun COULD work.... but it'd defo need more of a utility option instead of just being a shotgun

i think there's a custom weapon like that, where landing a hit with it temporarliy increases your heal/uber gain rate and it scales off damage

what if you could build meter for it with medigun heals and it had a healing dragons breath shell you could load into it and heal everyone in a cone

i feel a medic primary with any kind of utility would just make stock irrelevant unless it has a major on-wearer downside

The problem with shotgun is not the balance. Players think about how to use a weapon with concepts. The shotgun has a concept of stronger when closer. So medics will think that the best way to use a shotgun is by getting closer to enemies.

it's a pretty good execution for a medic shotgun but i still don't think this is a good idea.
you give medic a more offensiveley capable weapon and make the medic reload really long which takes time away that he otherwise would use for healing (which is especially bad since 80% of medics are going to use it just bc they don't like the syringe gun)

Knockout has its own take on the medic shotgun but from what I’ve played of it it’s pretty comparable to stock, only having slower firing speed and less base damage (~75 on meatshot)
You can’t tear shit up with it but it’s still really good self defense with no real downside compared to syringes I feel

You can also peek shot for like 50 sometimes which for medic is kinda. yeesh
