That Ryu set was an uphill battle to be sure. But I have some comments on how you can even the playing field.

Firstly, damage potential.

Note how Ryu managed to go into a full combo almost every time he hit you. Whereas you struggled to convert hits into (big) damage. It may seem obvious but a big part of the game is optimising your opportunities. Not leaving damage on the table. If you landed a combo for every hit you got, you might have won. Definitely something to practice.

Second, related point: hit-confirming.

When you do your combos, you do the full thing even on block. This leaves you wide open against an opponent who has already established he will take those opportunities and cash out big damage on them whenever he can.

Especially against this Ryu, this is important. Because I'd dare say 90% of his damage came off of punishing you for leaving yourself open off a blocked combo.

Sidenote: I'm going to assume most raw DPs you did were misinputted fireballs. This game has an insane buffer window. It's something you need to keep in mind as whiffing a DP can lose you the round.

There were times you seemed unsure what to do while Ryu was holding parry. A simple trick: throw him. Parry was designed to negate strikes and fireballs, but will explicitly be beaten by throws. You'll even get bonus damage from the Punish Counter. On the other hand, succesful parries build Drive. So you want to avoid delibirately striking their parry as much as you can!

Lastly there's the matter of anti-airs, a lot of Ryu's offense came from uncontested jump-ins. In fact, though he always charged up at the start of the round he almost never used it on his fireball. Just in combos. This might be the most important point of them all: work on those anti-airs. Your opponent can't win if they can't reach you.
