the biggest thing would be to stop mashing, it looks like you're constantly pressing something, and it kind of works cause your opponent is too but you never convert off of any hits in any significant fashion, so the game ends up hinging on who got the most hits in.

when you play, think about which buttons you're pressing and the reason why you press them

mashing prevents you from working on basically any other skill since you won't be able to recognize what is working and what isn't
