Heya, im diamond rank and have been playing street fighter for 2 years. I play Sagat and primarily Seth nowadays.

Hit me up if youd like to play some coaching sets where i can give you general gameplay advice or matchup specific help with my characters.

I think that mindset and attitude are the key for learning and improving at street fighter so thats something i like talking about too.

You can drop a replay in here too if you want some tips. Have a nice day ❤️

Hey! I'm very open to learning

#

I'm EU, so would you be ok with me streaming a ranked game or something like that? we get a lot of rollback if we play

#

im ultra silver with rose rn, 3700 lp. I personally think I play gold level but that's easy to say in my position, so i'm open to hearing more feedback

tropic citrus
#

Yeah absolutely

queen lagoon
#

@tropic citrus hey Cats can you help me with fireballs

#

I think I understand them at like a base level but it's almost entirely from fighting against them

#

So when I play Ryu, I know my fireball game is very weak

#

I try to poke with it and set fireball traps and I throw out EX for a knockdown or activation sometimes but I feel like I don't really get it

tropic citrus
#

i love fireballs

#

Want to play some sets against my seth where you try to run your fireball game sometime?

#

I can probably give some good advice from trying to get in on you

oblique inlet
#

Hey Hey @tropic citrus I would be down to maybe run some set and see what I could improve on!

queen lagoon
#

Omg @tropic citrus how was my Ryu

tropic citrus
#

your playstyle is amazing

#

i love it sm lol

#

You didnt throw many fireballs so im not sure what i could say on that

#

but phil style martial arts is art LOL

tropic citrus
queen lagoon
#

It's tricky because I didn't learn a lot of these things haha

#

Since I never played games where it matters

#

So I know disc does it sometimes but idk against who since Ryu's are a little better than usual

#

Obviously I wasn't playing very seriously and I haven't played Necalli much

#

But it almost felt unnecessary? Like I could stand a little closer since he's stubby and use my normals more

tropic citrus
#

disc?

queen lagoon
#

The bf charge attack

#

That clashes with fireballs

tropic citrus
#

Oh right!! im not 100% sure but from my limited necalli experience it seems like its too slow to use on reaction

#

it has to be a read

#

It seems like pretty bad risk reward if your fireballs are pretty unpredictable

#

since its so punishable

#

And yeah i'd probably agree ryu doesnt always need to play his fireball game

#

I think that fireballs are actually at their strongest when you can use them in conjunction with your pokes, they have 8 million active frames and beat every other poke

#

I like to use them a lot at closer ranges when i have a read my opponent is going to throw out a button

#

Not hugging distance but a bit closer than roundstart

queen lagoon
#

It's funny because that's right around where I like to stand and press buttons to beat fireballs haha

#

I've been trying to use them a little further than that

#

At a range where they're more guaranteed but I know that I can't react to them as Juri

tropic citrus
#

fireball trap distance?

queen lagoon
#

😅 I don't really know my ranges for those

#

I kinda just guess lol

#

But a little closer than that I would consider fireball trap range

tropic citrus
#

you should go into the lab and feel it out c: a lot of characters get it at roundstart distance

queen lagoon
#

Since at that range I can react usually

#

What's the best way to lab it out

#

Set the bot to reversal jump?

tropic citrus
#

You can do that

queen lagoon
#

Or have the bot throw the fireballs 🤔

tropic citrus
#

Or you can look at frame advantage

queen lagoon
#

Fireball > fireball > mp dp

#

And if I can jump in it's fake

tropic citrus
#

+10 and above is what you're looking for

queen lagoon
#

How do you get it to show that when you're really far away

#

I guess you can like double dash

#

Or whiff a button

tropic citrus
#

Iirc it just shows for fireballs

#

you can throw one and itll show you the frame advantage on block

queen lagoon
#

It doesn't for Juri

#

Like if I do max range c.mk xx fireball it won't tell me

#

But if I do c.mk xx fireball > dash it shows that I'm plus 5

tropic citrus
#

weird

queen lagoon
#

So when I'm labbing I do that and add 16f for the dash

tropic citrus
#

smart

#

maybe juri is an exception because her fb is weird

queen lagoon
#

🤔 maybe

#

I have the game open

#

Lemme just test

#

Whoahh

#

It does work

tropic citrus
#

Sweet

queen lagoon
#

Up to like half screen

#

Then it stops

tropic citrus
#

+10 and above is good

queen lagoon
#

this is around the range I throw them at

#

Which I now realize is like 0 lol

tropic citrus
#

Thats a really good range

#

it beats buttons and they are close enough for you anti air

#

and you can still threaten some of your pokes with your movement

#

lots of stuff for mr ken to think about

queen lagoon
#

Yeah it's nice

#

It's also a good f.hp range

#

And I love f.hp 😌

tropic citrus
#

its a very you move for sure

Hello! I'm pretty new to the game and started to play cammy. Still learning the basics but I've got a couple matches where I played with my friend who's playing Ryu. I know you're a Sagat/Seth main but I would appreciate any tips you may have overall!

Here's the link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVr7Mz5uMvg

You definitely need to block more, especially when youre already getting hit. Learning a combo off of a light button and a medium button is really important, youll find some great resources pinned in the coaching channel. Look at the simple character guide for cammy.

#

Anti airing jumpins is a fundamnetal too

hollow jolt
#

For sure. I have been practicing AAs for a couple days since those matches in the video. A bad habit that I've been noticing too is what you pointed out which is not blocking after I'm getting hit and I think it's because I'm not sure when a string or group of hits is done. Do you happen to have any recommendations for that?

#

I think part of it is also learning the opponent's moves but I'm sure it's gonna take a bit for me to do that

tropic citrus
#

As a general rule of thumb, if you got hit by a move, its not your turn, so always keep that in mind. Having a general feeling for when a blockstring is over comes with experience.

You can always experiment in matches by intentionally mashing

#

Some things to watch out for are blockstrings ending in fireballs, or when the string pushes you far enough away.

#

I like that youre poking with crouching and standing medium kick

#

You should learn a simple blockstring for situations like when you get a jump in. Something that is safe when blocked, and that combos when it hits

#

Try to block and punish your opponents sweeps more (sweep is crouching heavy kick) you can punish a blocked sweep with your own sweep

#

Id say generally try doing a little less! Less jumping around and more poking with your medium kicks. sometimes jumping in is good, sometimes its good to play on the ground

#

hopefully i didnt overwhelm you with too much info 😅 You can already do special moves which is great, keep on playing and the experience will come

Ah got it! I'll look into that

tropic citrus
#

let me know if you have any questions

hollow jolt
#

But thanks alot for the insight! Really appreciate it

tropic citrus
#

Absolutely sounds good to me

hollow jolt
#

Again, I appreciate any feedback even on the matches where I won cause I'm sure there are things to improve as well

#

The first match and the last match were the most recent matches so that might be a bit better performance wise (I think)
