This is not Rec Room's fault. This is Unicode, a very common thing in typing languages. Unicode is basically where a bunch of values are stored as strings and can be pasted to make symbols. For example, most emojis have a Unicode variant, which is why emojis can be used in Rec Room.
For instance, the Unicode for the ❤️ emoji is U+2764.
Unfortunately, this also means some characters, mainly this symbol, are also possible in the game thanks to Unicode. The only thing they could do is filter this icon out, but other than that they did not do this on purpose.
