What version are you trying to play on? Steam. Oculus, Stand Alone launcher?

#

What are the specs of your PC?

#

Have you made sure all the drivers are up to date?

Try deleting the cache folder and registry key, it will require you to log back in with username/password, but might fix something.

#

Cache folder is typically under
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\LocalLow\Against Gravity\Rec Room
You may need to make sure you can see hidden files to get to the AppData folder.
Just delete the whole Rec Room folder.

To delete the registry string.
In the Windows bar, type RegEdit. It will show as Registry Editor. CTRL+F or Edit>Find and search for Against Gravity. It should come to a folder under Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Against Gravity and it has another folder Rec Room under it. Delete that Rec Room folder and try again.

Try running the game and see what happens now.

#

When is it crashing? As you see you are trying to load into your dorm?

#

Have you tried resetting your dorm/spawn point through settings>account on rec.net?

#

Which VR? Is it through your PC?

#

Then, clearly something wrong on your computer. Open a request on Zendesk. They may ask for some log files, which you can find in the same cache folder listed above. Maybe with those log files they can find the reason your system is crashing.

Something is going on with your computer though. Especially if the same issue is happening with Steam and Standalone version. Out of curiosity, have you tried Oculus version in Desktop mode?

#

Is this a laptop? Do you have a monitor hooked to it or just using the default screen?

#

So the output from your monitor is coming from the video card and not off the motherboard?

#

Like I had an issue with a laptop with a video card and HDMI port, but the CPU was out the HDMI, had to use a USB-C for DP to HDMI to propperly run things.

#

So, shouldn't be the same

#

I know someone had some issues a while back with the game and they ran some VC Redistributable and it fixed there issue.

#

That is really odd.

#

Have you tried a different character? like make a new one to see if it gets in.

#

The thing is, all 3 version of the PC install end up using the same registry keys and cache folder. So, even if you install the Oculus version, be sure to clear those out like mentioned above.

#

Uninstall all version of Rec Room.

#

Then find the cache folder, delete it

#

delete the registry key again, if it is still there. Matter of fact, anything Rec Room in the registry if you find another thing in the search

#

Then, search the install directory of whatever platform you want to install again,

#

Like Steam something something commonapps

#

Make sure the Rec Room folder does not exist there.

#

Then, reboot your PC

#

Then try install again.

#

Matter of fact, do you see the little EAC thing pop up, as the game loads up?

#

ok

#

Usuaully in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RecRoom"

#

Is there anything in that file? Shouldn't be if you told it to uninstall

#

That Reshade might have been causing your issues.

#

yes

#

the whole folder

#

When you go to install again, it will make a new one.

#

Is Reshade a separate app or something you put in there? Cause, it might try to put it in there again if you install.

#

Reshade is a graphics mod

#

So, it had to be added after

#

No

#

But that is what those other files were from

#

Yeah, check Windows install files, see if you have ReShade installed. I have never used it either.

#

Yeah, the launcher does that some times, but you didn't delete the launcher location.

#

You deleted the steam location

#

See that path there, you might have some extra files in there too
