in GIMP if you hover over "image" than "mode" and click "indexed" a menu will pop up, choose the rec room color palette and choose dither pattern none, and GIMP will automatically choose the closest rec room color to the source image

indexed colors might not be the best solution for some pixel art tho cause i value similar contrasts over accurate colors
like for Minecraft textures, i dunt want large areas of solid colors

for something like a nether portal (the portal part, not the obsidian) it gives a solid purple color
which might technically be the closest color to every color in the texture
but since i value contrast over accuracy, ill prob end up using 2 colors for it

If you mean my giant project, it’s not technically a chicken. It was a 9 canvas project on a dinosaur foot, but I nicknamed it chicken.
