We got a new dev blog up and this one is all about State Machines! For those who don't know State Machines is now officially part of Circuits (CV2) in beta. But what are these? State Machine chips simplify complex functionality in rooms by organizing different actions into distinct states. So now you can efficiently program NPCs, for example, and this article will show you how!

One State at a Time: These chips ensure that only one child state is active at a time, reducing the risk of conflicts between different behaviors and eliminating the need for complicated condition checks across different states.

Modular Design: Easily add, modify, or remove states within the State Machine, just like you would with a circuit board.

Welcome back, Rec Room Creators! We're thrilled to announce the launch of a new room permission level: Contributor. The contributor permission is a great way to trial new potential collaborative partners before giving co-owner access and a better way to give temporary access for help. Contributors can help build out room content, but have more limited access to critical features around publishing, permissions, and room economics.
We hope this new level helps build trust between new creators and will lead to better long term partnerships. We're going to continue to expand the permission features in the coming year to enable more collaboration scenarios.

Increased ink limits give you a bit more flexibility to add content to your rooms and potentially make your experiences a tad more complex and engaging.

Can’t believe it’s December already! As you get ready for the holidays and the new year we wanted to remind you of the new exchange rate that was announced at Rec Con. We will be increasing the exchange rate from $0.0004 to $0.0006 starting January 1, 2024. The Early Creator Matching Bonus will end Jan 1 as well so make sure to cash out your tokens before then! We have received a lot of questions around this change and hope our news article can answer them: https://rec.net/creator/p/new-token-exchange-rate
Some additional details:

Tokens received prior to January 1, 2024 will still be worth $0.0004 (250,000 tokens = $100)

Tokens received on or after January 1, 2024 will be worth $0.0006 (250,000 tokens = $150)

When submitting a Payment Request, the older tokens receive priority. For example, if you have 1,000,000 tokens @ $0.0004 and 1,000,000 tokens @ $0.0006 and request payment for 1,500,000 tokens, you will receive $700. That's $400 for the old rate + $300 for the new rate.

We're introducing a personalized recommendation system, where every one of you will have tailored room suggestions based on your play history under what is now the #HotList tab in your watch (note: we're experimenting with list names and types of list so the list names may change at some point). We want to make sure more rooms get their time in the spotlight and through this personalization, we're aiming to connect you with rooms you'll absolutely love. It's all about giving great content the visibility it deserves!
What does this mean for you as a creator though?
Over time, building an audience for your room will become more accessible, even if its appeal is niche. That being said, currently, the system is designed to personalize experiences in already popular rooms, especially those in the top few hundred, while we continue exploring ways to support the growth of newer rooms. We’ve got some updates about Rooms 2.0 rollout and how we’re going to be gathering feedback and bugs from this point onward:
Starting today we’re moving the Rooms 2.0 channels from the RRS discord over to the Creator Club discord. If you head over to the Creator Club discord (https://discord.gg/rec-room-creative-club-419542073142935552) you should see the same channels at the top of the channels section on the left. We’re making this move because the Creative Club discord is better set up to accommodate a lot of incoming traffic (as a public discord), and we’ll soon be adding a lot more people to Rooms 2.0 early access 🙂
We will soon rename the R2 updates and chat channels in the RRS discord to be RRS specific channels. So as the RRS team has R2 specific updates or as you want to discuss anything R2 specific to RRS you can continue to do that in the RRS discord. We will also post the RRS announcements that are relevant to R2 over in the Creative Club R2 announcements channel.
Starting tomorrow (Friday 12/15) anyone will be able to apply for Rooms 2.0 access via a form that we’ll post in an announcement in the Creator Club discord. Everyone who applies will be granted Rooms 2.0 access! I would expect within a few days of applying. We should be onboarding from the application list every day or two.
We’ll also be automatically granting access to around 1k more creators. Before you apply via the form, be sure to check if you already have R2 access. You will know when you have been given access because you will see an in-game notification from Rec Room titled 'You've been selected for Rooms 2.0!' and you will see the 'Room 2.0 Template' in the Create > Choose Base Room section of your watch. Creators added via the application form may not get the in game notification so the most reliable method to know when you have been given access is to keep checking Create > Choose Base Room and looking for the Room 2.0 Template.
Since we will be adding thousands of more creators to Rooms 2.0 early access we’re changing up how were doing feature request and bug reporting:

We will leave the R2 Feedback and Bugs channels up (in the Creative Club discord) so that people can still discuss issues and link to their feedback posts but if its not on the feature upvote board or hasn’t been sent in via Zendesk its not guaranteed that the team will see it so please use those methods for R2 feedback and bugs! The feedback and bugs channels here will be locked down to RR staff only along with a note to move over to the Creative Club channels starting tomorrow 12/15.
Sometime in early 2024 we will start to move more and more creator focused initiatives and channels into the Creative Club discord. Expect to see some re-organizing over there, more active RR devs, and more consolidation of important creator announcements and programs settling into that server. To keep it in line with the new Creator Hub (https://rec.net/creator) we’ll be renaming it to the Creator Hub Discord at some point. We want it to become the go to place for most creator focused announcements and discussions.
I want to pass along a big thank you from everyone here at RR working on Rooms 2.0. We know it's still early but the feedback and bug reports so far have been a big help in shaping the roadmap for R2! Keep it coming

There’s been a lot of buzz around the new Room Rewards program and we’d like to address some of the Creator community’s questions and concerns.
The new program aims to give more Creators opportunities to earn rewards on their rooms. And to that point, it’s working. With the old Room Rewards program, we averaged around 50 rooms that received rewards. In the first month of the new Room Rewards program, over 200 rooms and more than 450 creators were rewarded. However, we also saw that the amount of the reward per room was significantly less than it was before. Between this change and the matching bonus ending, we heard concerns around the future of Creator earnings.
The new Room Rewards program is built to evolve over time with the needs of the community. We’re excited to announce that effective immediately, we have adjusted December’s Room Rewards for S Tier rooms:
- Engagement: Increasing 8x from 25 to 200 tokens per user
- Commerce: Increasing 5x from 500 to 2500 tokens per user
- Bonus: Increasing 5x from 250 to 1250 tokens per user
This isn’t a one-time holiday bonus – in the new year, we’ll continue to work with you to make Room Rewards the best program possible.
Creators are the lifeblood of Rec Room, and we want to ensure that our investment in the community is clear. The Creator community is bigger than ever, and we are grateful for each and every person who is a part of this story.

We want to recognize our incredible creators for their hard work and devotion to fostering creativity within Rec Room. Each week we pick a talented member of the community to celebrate and feature. But because great creators could have been owners or co-owners of room, we have tweaked what qualifications you need to be nominated as a Featured Creator:
- Must have 7 quality rooms (Owner or Co-owner): quality room being a room that showcases the player's skill and shows the creators have the mindset of creating a fun and well-made experience for players
- You must own (Not Co-own) at least 2 of those rooms
- Have at least 3 quality published inventions
- Be an active member of the creative community meaning being a player who engages with the community and shows an effort to create new things

They provide not only the best creative knowledge Rec Room has to offer, but also support many students by giving them confidence in their abilities and welcoming them into their home, the Classroom.
The biggest thing they provide to all of us is their heart. They are passionate about your creative success and want nothing more than to see you create amazing things for us all to enjoy. We're dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary creativity within our community, shining a light on outstanding rooms and the effort put into them. Each week, we select ten rooms, each a showcase of originality and innovation, to highlight and celebrate their outstanding content. But because amazing rooms new and old deserve recognition, we’ve updated the qualifications to have a room featured:
We have added a new rule!
- After a year has passed, a room may be re-featured!

**Limits V2 Retiring ** 
In 2023 we ran a beta program that allowed creators to enable Limits V2 in their rooms and get access to higher INK limits in legacy rooms. This was always an experiment to get insights on how creators utilized this higher ink limit and resulted in our unlimited ink feature of Rooms 2.0.
So, effective immediately, 5/28/24, we are disabling cloning of any room with limitsV2. This means, if you have a room with LimitsV2 enabled, it is still fully functional. However, you will not be able to create a new 1.0 Room with LimitsV2 enabled.

Hey everyone,
We've had a few creators reach out who have noticed that currently room co-owners are unable to move rooms or clone rooms. We received a lot of complaints from room owners in the past few months that these co-owner actions were causing a lot of issues. We've set the default for co-owners ability to move or clone rooms across all rooms to be toggled to off to help resolve these issues.
There is currently no way to change this until we land some work (hopefully coming in an update next week) that surfaces this option in the room settings. At that point everyone will be able to go into those settings and toggle these two permissions back on for co-owners if you like. Until those settings ship you'll need the room owner themselves to move or clone rooms.
We apologize for any inconvenience or creation interruptions here. We completed the permissions default change work ahead of the settings UI work in this case which created the confusion.

New 3 Strike Policy for CCoC offenders
We've heard a lot of the community's concerns over creators violating our Creator Code of Conduct. That's why we’ve updated our moderation policies to address concerns about repeat violators and ensure a safer, more positive environment in Rec Room. Offenses like republished content, spam, scams, and harmful content will now result in stricter penalties, ranging from temporary bans to permanent bans for repeat offenders. And because there will be so many more options to express yourself through Avatar Studio, we want to make Avatar customization more affordable for everyone. Flipping the switch means:
- The RRS role assignment / 'Join the Discord' button here https://rec.net/creator/studio starts giving creators their RRS full access role in the Creator Hub discord and dropping them in here. All creators who already have this role in the RRS discord server will have to click the button again to gain their role here in Creator Hub
- Once we switch that button over sometime next week, we'll make another announcement so that everyone is aware we've flipped the switch and we will start freezing the ability to post in the RRS and Ink Inc discords and moving all creators over into Creator Hub where we'll migrate the channels for those programs as outlined above
- You'll still be able to go back to the RRS and Ink Inc discord servers to reference forums and other posts there. You just wont be able to post in them. We were unable to find a good way to automatically migrate forum channels across servers so sadly if we want to move that stuff over we will need creators to do it manually. We'll pin a post to the migrated forum channels here leading back to the other server so that for the near term people can still easily find those resources. Over time the new forums should become just as valuable, especially if creators help by migrating over their most valuable posts manually 🙏

Another thing to note - if anyone has unused server boosts sitting on their discord account feel free to throw them our way. If we unlock that I'll drop another announcement in here with the new new URL 🙂

We've heard some creators joining the server are having trouble finding certain channels. Here are the solutions to that problem:

Go to 'Browse Channels' in the upper left and select every channel in the server

Click on the Creator Hub drop down / settings in the upper left and select 'Show All Channels' (img)

If you can't see the RRStudio channels ensure you have clicked the 'Join the Discord' button here https://rec.net/creator/studio if you have RRStudio full access. If you do you will be given the 'RR Studio auto access' role and you will be able to see and post in the RRStudio channels category. You do not need to leave the Creator Hub server for this to work, it will apply the role while you are still in the server, no need to rejoin. Those without RRS full access can still view most RRS channels.

This isn't just about new features—though there are plenty. It’s about ensuring that both avatar forms can enjoy new features, be compatible with Avatar Studio, and improve performance across all devices, which means lower crash rates for everyone.
The upgraded bean is still in an experimental stage so we’ll be rolling it out in phases and collecting feedback to make changes on. As we go through this phase, you’ll still have the option to stick with the classic bean for a bit longer, so you can choose to explore these new changes at your own pace, and give us feedback on it in our discord feedback channel. Hey yall! We'll be doing our first Creator AMA (voice / stage channel) in here tomorrow Wednesday Sept 11 at 3.30pm PT. I'm wrangling RR devs to show up and we'll have a nice chat about all things creation / creation tools / creator community. We'll open it up to questions from the text chat and pull people with questions up on stage to chat via voice as well.
You should see the Creator AMA voice channel at the bottom of the GENERAL section of channels now. We'll open it up for everyone to join a bit before the start time tomorrow. I'm sure we'll hit some role / permissions issue of some kind during the AMA so we'll work those out in real time 🙂

Contributor Invitations Update!
Hi folks - wanted to update the community on the issue we've been having with contributors being added to rooms they have no involvement in. We are implementing an update where contributors will have to accept an invitation to join as a contributor to a room. The process is the same as how co-owners are invited right now. This update will be available on Monday (9/16), but until then, no one will be able to add contributors to rooms.

You can now remove yourself from roles in a room!
@everyone We had a new update go out in our ship last night, where players with any room roles have access to view the Permissions tab in room settings! This means you can remove yourself from certain roles like moderator, host, contributor etc! We've updated our contributor permissions guide here to reflect this, but you can follow the same steps for other permission roles!
Contributor permissions are a great way to trial new potential collaborative partners before giving them co-owner access or to give temporary access for help. The Run The Block team has recently published a new copyable room called ^PlatformerTemplate You can copy this and remix it as your own room. This template comes with mechanics focused on locomotion, collectibles, and levels, and you can use the Maker Pen to modify everything in the room; Rec Room Studio is not required.

Hey, creators. We're making changes to Room Rewards starting this month to ensure we're supporting the kind of content we want to see. We wanted to make you all aware of these changes ASAP.
We're adding new engagement and monetization criteria to qualify under the Engagement track. Our hope is these changes reduce the number of low-effort “cash grab” rooms earning through the program and encourage creators to make content that truly engages players and monetizes well.

This month, we rolled out changes to Room Rewards to help more creators earn for their work — and it’s making a big impact. 800 plus rooms are earning Room Rewards this month. That means **over 300 more rooms are receiving rewards **today!
These changes are part of our ongoing effort to make sure Room Rewards go to creators who are building engaging, high-quality rooms and de-incentivizing low-effort rooms that aren’t bringing real value. We're continuing to improve how we identify and reward great content, and we’ll be sharing more updates soon as we continue to refine the program
Small note: **Commerce Room Rewards were accidentally sent with the label Engagement. **If you received two Engagement rewards it is because the first was Commerce.
Hey, everyone. I made a mistake in my Room Rewards blog post last week and I want to clarify one of the requirements.
If the average visit is between 10-15 min, rooms must also meet at least one of the following:
- At least 2% of visitors spend tokens in the room
- Earn an average of more than 1 token per visit
Initially, my blog said a room would need to meet both of those requirements. However, the requirements I tested only required one of those to be true. I apologize for the mistake and any confusion caused by this one.

We invite our Creative Classes to join us on unlocking the powerful potential of Rooms 2.0, but Classes are not required to participate if they are not yet ready.
And to reward and recognize you in delivering Rooms 2.0 classes, we’re offering a new Rooms 2.0 Teacher outfit! These outfit pieces can be earned simply by hosting and completing a semester using Rooms 2.0. This outfit can be earned in addition to your regular Teacher outfits and all registered Teachers are eligible assuming they participate in the majority of a successful Rooms 2.0 semester.
Teachers are amazing role models in our community. They are in a unique position to both encourage others to be creative AND improve their knowledge and skill at the same time. AIRS Update
Hey, all!
We further tested AIRS today by letting it run for multiple hours. What were the results of the test? The system ran flawlessly and took the right action against harmful inventions. Our moderators checked through all the content the system flagged during this multi-hour test, and there were no false positives. Again, we designed this system to detect the very worst content, and it's doing just that.
We will re-enable the system tomorrow, April 29th, and plan to keep it on. We appreciate all the feedback and questions you've shared--we will keep monitoring. This system, alongside our hard-working moderators, helps keep Rec Room a safe place to create.

Creators, we wanted to give a brief update on Room Rewards for April as we go into May. We’re continuing to move through the new Progressive System. With the introduction of the Progressive System in March, we paid out Room Rewards to over 800 rooms, a huge jump from paying out around 450 before this system was introduced. We’re excited to continue that and it’s never been a better time for creators of all levels to earn rewards for your hard work.
We also refined our criteria to disqualify several low-effort rooms and will continue to do so. As we go forward, we want to continue to update and refine Room Rewards to help better encourage and reward innovation. You can expect continued refinements to the program.
All April Rewards payouts will be sent by May 7th. This will also include R2 hoodies for April and March.
The Room Rewards page has the updated payout numbers for April and more information about how the payouts work. For May payouts, we’re continuing to refine and explore options and will share more in the coming weeks.
Hey, creators. I'm back with an AIRS update!
We've reflected on the feedback you've shared, and we want to give players time to change and adjust to this new system. We recognize that some of you created content years ago when some of our rules were different. We still want to moderate and remove content that violates our Creator Code of Conduct, but we will no longer place creation restrictions for older content that is flagged.
If a flagged invention was created before March 30th, 2025, we will simply close the invention--no restrictions placed. If the invention was created on or after March 30th, we will continue to issue 2-week invention creation issues. This change is live now.
We appreciate all the feedback and questions we've received. Your feedback helps us improve our systems and ensure we're finding the right balance.

This week we opened up the ability for players to start testing out Maker AI for creating circuits. As a reminder this is currently only available to RR+ subscribers and only in your dorm room.
You can find the Maker AI dorm room in the menu > Create > My Dorms > new dorm room with Maker AI. It’s still very early days for Maker AI when it comes to circuits, so while you’re experimenting with this new feature please be aware of its current limitations.

We’ve been talking a lot lately about our efforts to unlock creation in Rec Room for more people. This includes efforts like the simplified Maker Pen interface, improving inventions in R2, and Maker AI. We’re also working on experiences that will help introduce players to creation in more of a free-form and playful way in social settings.

Following the same pattern as projectiles, there’s a new Particle VFX Constant and a chip called Play Particle VFX At Position. The constant will give you access to all of the existing VFX in the Emitter, plus any custom Studio particles in your room, whether you downloaded them with an Invention or made them yourself.

I'd like to start with a huge thank you for participating in our #SolarPunk build contest! We want to take a moment to share some important updates with you.
We’re aware that many of you have encountered bugs in R2 over the past few weeks. We want to assure you that the team is actively working on fixes. We also understand that these issues have impacted your ability to build, and we appreciate your patience as we work through them.
Recently, we found a change that increased crash rates while building in R2, and in the recent update, we shipped a fix that should resolve it!
In addition, on the week of June 9th, we will have a fix for animation gizmos that will allow you to save the room without losing your animation data.
We hope this makes your building process easier, and we’re excited to see all the incredible creations you bring to life in R2!
To give everyone more time to build and adjust, we’re officially extending the build phase by two weeks. Here’s the updated contest timeline:
- Build Phase Ends: Sunday: June 29, 11:59 PM PST
- Playtest Phase: June 30 – July 14, 11:59 PM PST
- Play Phase: July 15 – July 30 11:59 PM PST
- Judging Phase: Begins July 31 and ends in late August
As we get closer to the Play Phase, we want to give you more insight into how engagement will be evaluated and what makes a room stand out.
While we won’t share every detail as we want to prevent gaming of the system, here’s what we’re looking for in the Top 10 rooms:
- Positive and meaningful player engagement, both solo and with friends
- Experiences that keep players coming back and spending time in your room
- Honest practices! No tricking players into joining or staying

A: Yes, but please follow both the Code of Conduct and the Creator Code of Conduct for events.

A: Yes! You can be in as many teams as you would like.

Much like custom Object Properties, custom Player Properties are a new feature for R2 that can be used to store custom data about players.
Unlike Object Properties, which are object-specific, all Player Properties exist for every player in the room. To create a new Player Property, all you have to do is reference it.

We're running an experiment and offering a 20% Tokens discount / cashback promo across ~50 creator made rooms - now until Monday June 16th.
TLDR
- Go in game > Play > find the 'Limited Cashback Room Promotion' rooms list
- Click 'View More' and check out all ~50 rooms
- If you spend a collective minimum of 3,000 tokens (total across any / all rooms in this list) you'll get 20% of your tokens back (Rec Room covers this not the creators)
- The Tokens cashback will show up as a gift box within 72 hours after the event ends
EXAMPLE
If you spend a collective 25,000 tokens across all of the promo rooms during the promo period - you'll get a gift box with 5,000 tokens in it from Rec Room once the promo concludes. Your spending could look like 25,000 tokens spent in one room. Or 1k, 2k, 500, 500, and 21k tokens spent across 5 rooms. Either gets the same 5k tokens cashback.

📢 Room Rewards: Dashboard Update
As mentioned in our June update, we will no longer be counting junior visits toward Room Rewards.
Starting today, you’ll now see junior visits broken out in your dashboard on rec.net through a separate checkbox on your Visits chart. This should give you more visibility into how your room is performing under the update.
A couple of quick reminders:
- Rooms that haven’t been updated in over 90 days are no longer eligible for rewards. Make sure your rooms stay active and updated.
- **Monetizing your room not only earns you commerce rewards, but it can also help you reach the engagement requirements. **If you haven’t tried monetizing your room yet, now’s a great time. We recently saw a room add monetization to reach the engagement requirement, make over 500k tokens that month.

This is your chance to test your rooms, gather feedback, and make any necessary updates or improvements. You can make many changes as needed during this phase, so take full advantage of the time to tweak and perfect your rooms!
You do not need to publish your room until July 14th.
After that date, no further changes will be allowed, so make sure everything is polished and finalized before then.
Publishing early does not give you an advantage in engagement, so don’t rush and focus on making your experience the best it can be.
Now’s the perfect time to invite friends, explore your builds, and fine-tune the gameplay. We’re so excited to see how your creations come to life!
Hey everyone, here’s your July Room Rewards Update. We're making a few changes to some tiers and the qualification requirements. These changes should not affect your overall payouts, but help simplify the process on our end as well as make sure the rooms that are deserving of rewards get rewarded.
- We’re removing the “old” system to make payouts simpler and easier to understand. Going forward, everyone will be paid on the progressive system.
- This change only affects S Tier rooms. While we’re removing the old system, we’re adjusting Progressive System payouts to make up for any loss.
- This will affect both the Commerce and Engagement tracks.
- The number of users required for C-tier engagement will go up from 63 to 100 users.
- To make sure this doesn’t reduce anyone’s rewards, we’re also increasing the token payout for Tier C rooms so C Tier users will seem like they’re worth a lot, but it works out to be the same as before.
- Both of these changes will result in roughly the same or better rewards for everyone who qualifies, and remember that under the progressive system, you get rewards for all tiers.
- For example, a B Tier room with 135 qualified users would get paid 1000 tokens for users 100-124, and then 250 tokens per user for users 125-135 for 28,000 tokens total.

If creators or co-owners average more than one event per day across the Play Phase, the room may be disqualified. This includes events held in promotion rooms and party invite spam.
Allowed Room Prizes:
You can offer player-created promotional items, such as in-game trophies, collectibles, or item skins.
Not Allowed:
Do not promote giveaways, raffles, lotteries, or contests involving real currency, virtual currency, Rec Tokens, “free gifts,” or permission offerings. These violate Rec Room’s Terms of Service.

That said, we’ve heard from several of you that serious issues popped up right at the final deadline last night.
To support those affected, we’re opening a short bug fix window for rooms that were published on time (before July 14 at 11:59 PM PST).
What you need to know:
- Bug Fix Deadline: You have until July 15 at 11:59 PM PST to make final bug-related changes to your published room.
- No new entries will be accepted. This is only for rooms that met the original deadline.
- No further extensions will be granted. This is your final chance to make any changes.
- This applies to** all creators who submitted on time**, to keep things fair across the board.
- Engagement earned between July 14 at 11:59 PM PST and July 15 at 11:59 PM PST will not count toward your engagement score.
- Saving your room after July 15th, 11:59 PM PST **will not be allowed **

FYI the R1 unlimited ink toggle for existing rooms should now be showing up in the room settings page, but it will show up as 'Enable LimitsV2' for now and it will correct to the 'Enable Unlimited Ink' text in the next update.

As promised above, we've just shared a blog post detailing our updates to custom avatar item moderation.
All items are now being scanned by our moderation system, so hopefully you're less likely to come across violating items going forward.
As always, we appreciate your feedback and support in making Rec Room safer for everyone!
Hey, creators!
We wanted to give you a heads up that newly created, non-published custom clothing items are now being scanned by our moderation systems. While these are items that can't be found in the store, they can still be worn around other players. So, we want to make sure they're safe!
The key points:
- All custom clothing created with the clothing customizer is now scanned through our moderation system.
- If the system mistakenly flags an item, creators can appeal directly in-game for our team to review.
We’re making this change based on player feedback asking for better moderation in this area, so thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping us improve!
This is just a quick update, but we’ll have a more detailed blog to share tomorrow. Stay tuned!
🤖👕🎩Anyone can now create Roomie avatar items! You will need Avatar Studio access to publish the items, but anyone can now get started building them in Blender using our tools and the tutorial videos here: https://forum.rec.net/t/create-roomie-avatar-items-blender-tools-demo/11203
For Roomie items - the rollout to publish within Avatar Studio is currently just for ambassadors as we test for bugs and other issues.
If you make a Roomie item or an avatar item using the blender tools but you don't have Avatar Studio access you can apply for access using the link in the forum post, or share your work in #1275138369550160064 and get feedback from RR staff and the community!

@everyone - Circuit limits in R1 have been increased to match R2 limits! This means **chip limits in all R1 rooms (new or old) have gone from 5k to 7.5k chips. **Enjoy the added chip space!
The R1 heat limits have also been increased 🔥 🔥 🔥

We will be ramping down engagement rewards throughout the rest of 2025, transitioning Room Rewards to a program that more strongly rewards monetization.

This update is automatically enabled for all KCC items.
If you’d like to disable gifting for a specific item, head to its Config Menu and toggle “Is Giftable” off (pictured)

October Room Rewards have been sent! In October, Commerce payouts nearly doubled thanks to higher payout rates and the addition of custom avatar item sales in rooms. In short:
- Creators can now earn more through Commerce rewards than through Engagement.
- Along with earning more through Room Rewards, creators are also earning from players.
- Creators have more ways to earn Commerce rewards through the addition of custom avatar item sales in rooms.
We're continuing this momentum into November. This means Engagement rewards are slightly decreasing as we continue to focus on Commerce.

Hey Creators,
Wanted to give you guys an early heads up: we're launching a new "hide-and-seek" backpack game soon that we think is super fun! Players that opt into playing will get some visual changes & additional gameplay in your room while the game is active (similar to how Pop Up Games worked).
Pictured first is the most significant visual disruption that only appears temporarily for the "seeker" - the "hider" view is much less obtrusive, also pictured. Players that don't opt-in to play won't see anything outside of the ordinary.
If you don't want consumables like this active in your room - you can disable players' ability to spawn them via your room's permission settings. In the future, we're planning to add more options for this setting so you can disable specific types of consumables like backpack games - but for now this setting will apply to all consumables.
The holidays are right around the corner, and you know what that means…it’s time for the Rec Holiday Market! Get ready for festive shops, cozy creations, and tons of seasonal fun. We’re inviting creators from across the community to show off their skills and help bring the winter vibe to life.

We are looking for some festive shops with a winter, holiday, or cozy feel! We want to feature 40 creator shops through the month of December and January, from Dec 8th to Jan 5th!

- We are especially excited to feature shops that are selling UGC clothing items that fit the seasonal theme of winter wear, festive outfits, - or cozy styles.
- You can share shops with other creators/clubs.
- Your shop and content need to follow the COC and CCOC
- Please add an unlinked door to your shop, and we will link it to the ^WinterWonderland room while the room is featured.

🚀 **Room Boosts Expansion Update!**🚀
Room Boosts are expanding to every creator in Rec Room starting tomorrow, 12/17! All room owners will have access to Boosts & Boost Chips, letting you detect boosts in your room and reward supporters with perks like VIP access, items, roles, or custom experiences.
To celebrate, we’re hosting a weekly Room Boost Leaderboard Challenge!
- Starting tomorrow, a new leaderboard section of the Community Board will display the Top 10 Most Boosted Rooms in a given week
- The Top 10 most boosted rooms at the end of the week earn a custom room badge.
- The #1 most boosted room of the week gets a door in the Rec Center
- This leaderboard challenge will run for ~4 weeks

(If you want to get a head-start on design, your badge should be a 1024 x 1024 resolution, 24-bit transparent PNG. Transparency will be respected when displaying the badge, so keep that in mind when designing your silhouette. On lower end devices and when a player is far away, the badge should look good at around 256 x 256 resolution.)

Two quick updates:
We realized that the leaderboard wasn't showing the RecCenter over the weekend and have fixed that by showing the top 10 boosted rooms in the watch home! We had to migrate this over, so it'll be up to date within an hour. Then, it will update daily as it did before.
Reminder: The last time to boost for the leaderboard competition for badges will be Tuesday (1/27) at 5PM PST. At that time, we are going to disable the ability to purchase boosts while we work on next steps.
