#VGC Rates

Ya, I just copied the incin from my trick Room team. I'll change it
https://pokepast.es/c17bc5fa151346ad hows this
I would definitely run Protect on Farig, and run atleast some speed on Inci to hit 180
in tailwind
is this the team of Tang Shiliang
hi! new to competitive teambuilding, interested in getting some feedback on this team
https://pokepast.es/7b43b9296d1ab548
you can probably go non tera ground on farigiraf since you don't have any electric type partners
true, what would you suggest then? grass would be nice for anti-spore but I already have the calyrex-i grass tera. not sure if that matters too much since it'd be defensive anyways
Ya based of of that, you dont need so many dark types probably
Switch pelippers item to rocky helmet or something
and maybe like sitrus or smh on amoonguss
oo, thank you, i didnt realize i still had it on sash. copied it from another team
would there be a benefit to having rocky helmet on pelipper over rocky helmet on amoonguss? And putting smt like damp rock on peli instead
One time I played against a dude running Tera Ice Blizzard Kyogre with Sash Tornadus setting snow
Damp rock isn't very good because VGC games don't tend to last that long
I'm not sure why choruto said to switch sash but that is pretty up to preference
ouu okay, thx
What should I switch about this team
(Should I switch Electabuzz or palafin to ursuluna based on niche usages and how the team could work)
For the love of God, switch Palafin out for Urshifu rapid
positive?
I tried it before and he never worked well because of the amount of scummy psyshock users
Surging Strikes, dual stab, Unseen Fist are all very stupid
k
You have Chi-Yu for that
depends on the situation but yea
I guess
what is the best build for it
choice scarf or bulk
Rain boosted Tera Water Surging Strikes is going to kill basically anything that doesn't resist water
Scarf
k
what ecs
what evs
not putting 252 though because I need some sort of way to live above 50percent on a prediction
For speed
I mean
You need 252 speed and a lot of attack. If you feel it necessary you can also invest a little bit in special defense, I've seen people do that
Also if I were you I'd look into experimenting putting a Pokémon or two on Tera ground in case you ever need to click consecutive Discharges. Not totally required tho
I had Electabuzz for that + rain dance
Wait does it get Motor Drive?
It kinda is tbh. You need a way to boost your water type and turn off opponent weather conditions
K
any other changes
I only use gothitelle and scream tail if I see a stall team
actually I'm gonna jus test ut
Perish Trap is unfortunately not good right now
NAIC winning team: 3 Pivot moves + Urshifu
NAIC Finalist: Ghost type, Urshifu, multiple Tera Ghost
NAIC 3rd place: Caly S + 3 pivot moves + Urshifu
NAIC 4th place: Miraidon + Urshifu Dark
NAIC 5th place: Urshifu in rain
NAIC 6th place: 3 pivot moves + Urshifu
NAIC 7th place: 2 pivot moves, Urshifu Dark, Ditto
NAIC 8th place: Tornadus + a pivot move
Urshifus are the biggest problem because you can't protect through Perish Turns, and it gets especially dire with a high damage restricted
that's gotta be annoying
I switched my team
idk what the last 2 should be
testing life orb and choice scarf
(should I put safety goggles on iron jungulis and run an offensive farigiraf?)
ok I gotta go make said team now which might take a while
Wouldn't Fire Ogerpon be preferable over Chandelure or does it have a specific function?
Chandelure does stuff
Chandelure hard walls koraidon
Ceruledge can but requires much better speed control so they didnt use it
But its prob interchangeable
Ceruledge has higher speed tho?
Didn't that team win in something?
Anywho, it has really good physical specifical split. Countera for both Calys, I think it's pretty sweet.

do you know what a pokepaste is
and EV's can be found here https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/formats/vgc/
Thank you
I would replace ogerpon with ditto, the team is overall weak with special walls imo. Ditto would improve the win condition
Otherwise standard evs from Rajan et al would work
Thank you!!
what role would you imagine ogerpon be doing?
Wont trick room hurt miraidon?
Also, far can survive a tera eletric volt switch on electric terrain, by miraidon
Ditto utility allows you to switch in for incin, take their restricted etc
granted, it requires more prediction
you have blood moon
Miraidon imo is the primary win condition here, blood moon would be fast enough under tailwind anyway, and my understanding of why BM ursa was chosen was to have ground +intim immune
You have multiple win cons already
I don't see why adding ditto is required
Cornerstone is an established part of miriadon comps
A lot of teams also use Tailwind so you really want a way to take them on, especially Calyrex-S stuff
I need advice on making my team. I want to make a VGC centered around Bulk Up Rage Fist Annihilape. So far I have amoongus for healing and support and Incineroar for support. But I’m having trouble deciding what my legendary should be. Any help would be appreciated
as i said, you lose to special walls, and more notably bulky grass types.
adding a stone/grass type doesnt help
who started this trend of adding ogerpon anyway? no wonder all the rajan lookalikes on the ladder are using ogerpon
ok i see, its Rajan himself lmao

My sun team is better💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Honestly, Idk why I have Triple Axel on Tsar while I have a Sun Team
You did that for l coverage reasons, but honestly, she should not be on the sun team she should be on the rain team
I only put her on the team for blocking priority moves
Use Farigiraf
That would just make it a TR Team at that point
True but she just seems out of place
Wait..actually a Sun TR combo goes kinda hard imo
Why so?
I can basically outspeed with Trick Room while also having mons that benefit from TR and Sun, aka, majority of my team
But then again, I have 2 Paradox mons that are really fast
And I don't think they would benefit from TR
What if u just don’t run Trick room
..fair
And just Farigiraf as support team with helping hand
Or go with offensive version, and put throat spray on it
I have too many offensive mons, so ill go support
Wait..can I go Mixed?(Support and Offense)
I mean yeah u could
Throat spray helping hand build is not bad idea
Something like that
Calculations are gonna be very hard
To do something that’s going to get your damage, but also be able to take an enough hits
Is hard to do
https://pokepast.es/dcea1346617dea5f
I did something like this
Tho looking back on it, this feels more offensive
Gets the job done a defense of Tara fairy
Isn't bad. I'd say go Life Orb 3 attacks on Wake
Choice specs with the speed boost is scary tho
But with Life Orb you can switch moves
And you dont lose too much power
Incoming essay
Then you could go specs flutter over torn
Since groudon doesn't really need tailwind
Calyrex-Shadow kills it
Interesting take on Sun. A few changes I would recommend:
-
Tera Water/Poison > Tera Fairy on Umbreon: Better typing for Umbreon's purpose, Water is very good into Calyrex-I and Urshifu-R, as well as Zacian. Meanwhile, Poison can resist Fighting-STAB moves and Fairy attacks.
-
Safety Goggles > Leftovers on Umbreon: You have Moonlight for recovery, and you need Goggles to better handle Calyrex-I Rain team which would otherwise obliterate sun compositions. Goggles also lets you instantly pressure Amoonguss + Calyrex-S + Inci/Rilla compositions.
-
Get rid of SpA on Umbreon, invest it in bulk. Also, I would consider Yawn > Snarl, as team is rather offensive in nature it doesn't necessarily require Snarl. Yawn has more immediate pressure.
-
Life Orb > Choice Specs on Walking Wake: Wake is a threat because of it's flexible move choice boosted in Sun. You don't want to lock it away. It still gets the required KO. You also need Protect because Wake can be frail.
-
Flutter Mane/Raging Bolt > Tornadus (can be tested). The team isn't a fast paced team, and Tailwind wouldn't benefit much. The Protosynth monsters are VERY strong.
-
You are wasting 4 EV's on Rillaboom. Make it 4 SpD and 4 Spe. You are also wasting EV's on Umbreon, but like I mentioned before, get rid of SpA EV's.
-
Run more bulk on Groudon and an Adamant Nature. Heat Crash picks up KO's.
Hope this helps, Good Luck!
I like it I take some it to mind
Every talking about flutter who kicking off the team for flutter
You kinda need the Rillaboom to handle Mirai
I would test Flutter over Tornadus first, and over Ogerpon
nah keep snarl on umbreon
also stealing my wake idea 💢
You can keep Snarl, but uhh, Yawn is simply too good against Calyrex formes
Snarl is not helping vs Nasty Plot Calyrex-S
They set up over your debuff's very rapidly
imo
Snarl does 50 percent on the ghost one
give annihilape weakness policy then one shot every ghost type with priority
Yeah, but they ain't staying in Ghost type against an Umbreon
Most of them goes Tera Fairy
So your saying I need a steel type then
if you force them to setup then anything else can attack
drop taunt fr
tbh, test it over taunt or snarl
See how it works out for you
This must be one of those things that has to be decided by testing lol
test the team as is and if you aren't clicking taunt or snarl then replace
TESTING ok got it
(I didn't notice much, k?!)
Agree with u too lol
I like the idea of umbre in sun tbh im gonna build korai goth with umbre
Thx for the idea 🙏🏽
Raging bolt and flutter are guaranteed slots im not sure about the last slot tho
Maybe just go with speed control
Anytime
Could do eweb bolt and icy wind flutter. Or even try Grimmsnarl
With Groudon, I would try going for a bulky approach
Farig also works with the semi TR option, ig
Im doing korai goth
Not groudon
oh, then go for Whimsi
koraidon and gothitelle?
Yes, it's good
to lock bad match ups or
One of sun's major weakness is Pelipper and Rain Dance Torn/Kyogre
With Goth, you can lock them out or force them in and neutralize them
Goth stops volatile korai checks from switching in and out
I was thinking that
Also has taunt for rain donce torn
And fast Taunt also prevents Inci from switching out
Goth + Chi Yu is also a strong lead
do you always save your tera for goth then
Nah
You have FO and very offensive partners
oh ok
but what if gothitelle is threatened while a koraidon threat is locked
https://pokepast.es/c9a4debceefeff5d

are you trying to use typhlosion
go gleam over taunt/icy wind
protect somewhere on farig (probably over gleam)
Wait rewind:
- Yes I'm planning on using Typhlosion
- You just said get gleam over Taunt/Icy Wind, then immediately after said to replace it..so what do I do?..
first on flutter second on farig
go gleam on flutter and no gleam on farig
gleam gives you a spread option
Well im trying to play around some wide guard shenanigans as well with Flutter, hence that moveset
Cause you don't know what people can do in VGC
Cause I played a Wide Guard Mienshao my first practice match on showdown(with past team) and they had Dark Ursh, Heart Oger, Mienshao and idr the 4th
But I won't degrade from your plan
IMO if you use Groudon, pair it with rillaboom
It helps control Miraidon and Kyogre
Bolt is good for that too but i like rillaboom for fake out and pivot
WE BEEN MAKING SUN TEAMS ALL DAY LOL
I spend most of my day testing
Testing what?
My team
Go magnet tera electric raging bolt since you can't run AV
It has crazy calcs
Bettt
Hello, this is my first VGC team and I just sorta used pikalytics and stuff to build this so can someone give me some reccomendations on how I can improve this team https://pokepast.es/f80e293d905cffd6

Team is good. Probably make Iron Hands Tera Water or Grass
ok, i think i forgot to set tera
Personally
I would not run
252/252 timid ursaluna
with Iron Hands
go for a slow variant
Fair
ok makes sense

does this work
Ya probably
YALL I need help making trick room team
Caly I amoonguss raging bolt incin peli+1
Dialga-Origin seems like fun choose
https://pokepast.es/be360d0b5ad0f905
Main premise of the team: Make Storm Drain Tatsugiri as good as possible
A-Lad-in a Cloud: Always goes first. Sets up tailwind and if opponent sets up a different weather, set it back to rain
Groudon Stupid: Rain + potential to sweep
Suicusaurus: Offence + Buffs Tatsugiri with Surf
SUPREMACY: The star of the show. Meant to steamroll everything with either Boosted Muddy Water or Dragon Pulse
Donbozo: Mostly meant to mess throw off opponents by thinking I would use Commander when I'm actually using Storm Drain, tho it can be helpfull against teams with trick room
Filet-o-Fish: ...honestly I might replace him since I rarely use him. He was meant for coverage but it's kinda irrelevant when Kyogre, Walking Wake, and Tatsugiri steamroll everything
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
But why 😭
is this intended for bo1 or bo3?
Bo1
Okay
I would personally axe dondozo
its just kinda useless, ur never gonna bring it
if you dont have commander
then also you have like 4 water types!
Yeah the 4 water types was something I felt was bad, which was the reason I had Chi Yu, but I never brought it since Kyogre, Wake, and Tatsu destroyed so much
thats a lot of overlapping
roles?
I would remove wake and dondozo personally, replace them for like
landorus rillaboom or something idk
Dondozo maybe
But the main gimmick for Wake is having it Surf Tatsu and buff it's special attack
so he is a must stay
run t-fire on chi yu and use over heat, tornadus should go covert cloak
Its just not worth it though
you already have kyogre with specs thats fine enough
walking wake has not so much synergy with the rest of the team, and running a mon just to boost tatsugiri by +1 and do some chip on opponents isen't rly worth
over coverage from like lando
maybe run surf on kyogre I guess
if ur commited to the gimmick
I thought about having Kyogre surf but the problem with that is it's slower than scarf Tatsu (and I use scarf since it almost guarentees that I outspeed anything that is 1) Not Proto Speed Flutter or something, 2) another scarfed mon, and 3) Shadow Calyrex, assuming tailwind isn't up for either of us, or it's up for both of us) and I want it faster so that Tatsu can get the full effect of it's buffs
Plus, usually, Kyogre is the first to die since people see it as the biggest threat, so they would try to play around it, while Walking Wake and Tatsu are seen as too big of a threat, so they wouldn't try play around it and assume they can roll over it with whatever and not realize how dangerous they are until it is too late
Basically, this team is meant to mess with people's head since while it looks like a bad team, it's because it is meant to look bad. Most people think the threat is Kyogre and Tailwind while the real threat come from Wake and Tatsu. Plus Wake does good damage on it's own as well so even if Tatsu gets killed, Wake can still do very well.
I will say however, this team has one MASSIVE weakness that is pretty hard to go around, especally if Tornadus dies: Wide Guard since it shutsdown basically everything (it also has a weaknesses to Rilaboom and water Ogrepon but I can play around them pretty easily). Also, this team is practically useless in Open Team Sheets but I like closed more anyways. This team isn't fully meant to be competitive (tho it can kick butt), it's mostly a team I have fun with, and I just want to improve upon the gimmick I've created (being surf with Wake and Destroy with Tatsu)
Also I just love Tasugiri and Walking Wake so That's why they are the main part of this team
Hmmm
Can you afford removing Kyogre for somehting?
I mean I could since reallyhe just sets up rain and does major damage before the real threat shows up
If not
Yeah
You might be better off with like
could go koraidon or groudon tbh
and add bolt in the dondozo slot
or add CSR and go full hyper offense
what is CSR?
oh nevermind
Calyrex
yeah I might go with Calyrex since before Kyogre was legal, I just used Tornadus to set up rain anyways. And I def don't want Groudon or Koridon since it would hurt my team more than help since water doesn't pair well with the sun.
and the whole point is to make surf and muddy water very strong to sweep up everything, which the sun will make it hard to do
I mean if u add bolt it would only hurt tatsugiri
I guess
but if u want to center it around tatsu then dont
Personally i think tatsu is too frail as your wincon, especially since you dont have psychic terrain protection
Grassy glide exists
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
That is definitely a weakness in my team but it is also pretty easy to play around since they usually just bring it in at the start to kill Kyogre, so I can do big damage with Tornadus on Rilaboom
I guess? Thunderclap is also thing yanno
I just feel like rain teams really got shafted this reg
Might as well do a surging strike from urshifu under sun instead
Raging Bolt usually goes after Walking Wake and it is risky using it in general because of... well dragon types
And Rain has definitely taken a hit becuase of Koraidon, but that's a reason I use rain, to fight off against Koraidon.
Im trying it out but its feels quite bad tbrh
Open teams or closed, cuz if it is open, then this team is basically useless cuz one of the major points is that it trick people since most people don't think of storm drain tatsu
closed, simply because tatsu dies to everything
Im contrasting it vs a good team like https://pokepast.es/b6c6fb823ae550cd
Where you can just pick mirai+whim and ursa+ditto every game and you still have a positive win rate
I don't think indeedee is good here. It has 0 synergy with the rest of the team other than being a follow me bot and it shuts off incin's fake out.
If you want to block priority then farigiraf is an option
Also leftovers amoonguss isn't very good, Rocky Helmet is more consistent and Regenerator is a better source of healing.
Alright
Cresselia???
This is a team I'm currently testing, I'm pretty new but I'm hoping to be able to actually compete in vgc someday
https://pokepast.es/ddbc7e2cabbe74bf
The current VGC format allows you to use one restricted Pokémon that is stronger than a normal one.
And most of those sets aren't very standard
Hands needs clear amulet
It won’t work now that’s not great team or maybe I don’t see the vision give me the play by play what’s the goal of the team
Delphox not good mon
So its my first time ever building a competitive team, i got 5 Mons i feel good about, but i dont know what i should add as a 6th to help the team the most. I dont care if its not like, a tournament level team, i mostly just want to find a way to make it function well. https://pokepast.es/0ba1953c04065917
Go protect over helping hand on farigiraf and choose a defensive tera(I'd recommend fairy) Ting Lu's set isnt very consistent so I'd say change that.
Heavy duty boots needs to go

are those not the same team but with chi yu over typhlosion
but team 2
chi yu in sun hits crazy hard
no surprise there..
and id say go trick room over helping hand on farig
If you're gonna ask for competitive advice you're going to be suggested the best Pokemon yeah
I'm not doing trick room tho..
Just Sun
The team would benefit from TR
Well if that's the case, why not go with the Typhlosion team?
I would also run Icy Wind on Flutter > Taunt
And you could try Imprison TR to handle opposing TR teams
Denying TR is harder as their TR setter (CalyI or Lunala) can just straight up attack and OHKO flutter while you Taunt, or they can Tera and tank the Fire spam to set up TR
Flutter is a high value mon which would should preserve imo
Chi-Yu compliments the Flutter + Bolt composition
And it's dark typing is strong against Tera'd opps
I would also recommend running Helping Hand > Swords Dance on Groudon
So..Farigiraf getting Helping Hand is terrible, but Groudon getting it is okay?..
Again, Groudon, the literal base of the Team, should be getting Helping Hand
It’s not that it’s terrible it just doesn’t make a lot of sense on this farigiraf set
But it makes sense for Groudon...
Hey I didn’t say that lol but I’d be interested in hearing the reasoning
Groudon provides sun for flutter and chi, which combined with helping hand can hit for targeted strikes
You will be bringing groudon to more matchups than Farig
- Groudon doesn't really require SD
groudon rather usually doesnt have the time to sd
due to its weaknesses and how common kyogre and peli are
- Moveslots are kinda crunched on farig to afford a slot for HH. TR can be a game changing move, literally
In this team*
I would also get rid of either psychic or HV on Farig and run a bulk set with maybe goggles
And maybe run volt switch on Bolt to pivot into Sun, which can be quite handy vs Pelippers
yea TR or TR Imprision are just way to impactful on Farig thats why I jus typically Dazzling Gleam for chip and just straight bulk and support
Not accusing/assuming anything, but your making me feel like my team is dog shit
you are running offensive farigiraf so you want to either set up for a sweep or be attacking
No
One said that
Any changes tell me
No like, based on how many changes are basically needed, it feel like you're saying that I'm bad at Team Building
Also..idk how but I have Chi Yu registered in my dex, but i don't have it in my box
U can trade for one
I usually try and get one myself if you mean to use it for my VGC Team
Me too
Oh..
Change rilla tera and protect over ewebs on bolt
This any better?.. https://pokepast.es/879a729c6707f6bf
Also should I keep Throat Spray on Farig or give it Sitrus?
252 in Hp? On choice scarf
Look, im using Pikalytics to help with my team making/sets
So most of this is on that site
Then what would you suggest?
Take the smogon dex sets
NOW THATS GOOD TEAm
Really?..
Yes
Every team goes through many changes during optimization. These are very minor changes
So..I can start creating my team in game now?
Think this is good enough to start creating?
got a concept team, the description explains poliwrath https://pokepast.es/d5d003f1b9f241b3
Remember: No team is unbeatable, they all have a weak spot. Some just less than others.
https://pokepast.es/68b5eba8e60bc84f came up with this a couple days ago it seems relatively solid? I'm just not too sure on a couple sets

Luna can you let me warm up on this <3?
For the record we are currently in Regulation G, which allows restricted legendaries
Sure
Rip my essay
-
Kyogre with mystic water sets generally tend to run protect. Have it over thunder as both opulse and water spout are essential and the coverage gained from ice beam tends to outweigh that of thunder.
-
Tornadus over thundurus. Taunt and speed control are still options, and even better due to tailwind's superiority over thunder wave. Focus blast and electric coverage aren't as necessary to be honest, you would much rather have rain dance taunt tailwind bleakwind torn for the sun matchup.
-
Tera grass clefairy. Take advantage of the rain's fire dampening powers to use an amoonguss immune tera. Steel also works.
-
If focus blast is for a specific target, run sacred sword on chien pao to hit that mon over crunch, Crunch however, is a fine move thought throat chop tends to be more common as incineroar switchins lose parting shot access and you can shut down ursaluna bloodmoon in certain situations.
-
Life dew clefairy is not the best, you do not heal gholdengo thanks to good as gold so perhaps sing is a better option, or icy wind for further speed control.
@keen escarp rmrmt (rate my rate my team)
Hmm ok, although the point was to build around a thundurus rain core
I liked the idea of spreading para coupled with wildbolt storm under rain
It's just that coverage wise I'm a bit lost
I was considering knock but that's more a utility thing not a damaging move if I don't have any attack investment
I'll do the other suggestions though, but I'd rather try and keep thunderus so how do you think I can exploit it better so it's not just outclassed by torn
Gj on the essay
The best use for thundurus is prankster eerie impulse and t-wave, use taunt eeire impulse twave wild bolt
It’s type is also good
Why it’s been only played with zama, I would go much more defensive if u want to keep the rain idea
Lean into kyogre being defensively strong
https://pokepast.es/96c5cf5b2c71b90a
Im looking back at my Sun+Trick Room Team and I genuinely don't see how these mons benefit from Trick Room except Farig, Groudon and R Bolt
You kinda need Trick Room if you intend to use Imprison to shut down opposing ones
And Farig + Groudon + Bolt is solid as a TR mode vs faster teams against which you cannot normally compete in speed
Flexibility is always good
A nice example would be Rajan's Indianapolis regional winning team
Farig had TR, max speed timid blood moon is still relatively slow compared to rest of the format, so it gives flexibility to switch modes
You can run TR even if a lot of your Pokemon are fast, because having the option itself is good against faster (tailwind) teams
@valid mesa you are here oO
In doubles Reg G, what item works best for Galarian Slowking. I’m using it mostly as a special tank support
https://pokepast.es/71f13e8c00a28e12 taking some inspiration with the raichu + zama core wolfey did. modified with manual rain oger, and specs flutter for some more offensive presence

It’s great team I most likely add a dragon on the team
I think electabuzz isn't very good there. Its mainly used on Trick Room teams, I'd recommend using another mon to help into Dark types since your calyrex can't touch them
and then leftovers on calyrex should probably be some damage boosting item
It’s bulk calyrex and that’s gallade
wdym
right now calyrex is trying to be offensive and a setup sweeper at the same time
That’s what it’s trying do with calm mind
Team doesn't really suit it that way
Calm Mind Calyrex is better with Draining Kiss on a balance composition to get more set up opportunities and to sweep even if they have a Dark-type (they always do)
If you go tera fairy kiss then you should change the rest of the team to fit that
Some issues I found with the team:
-
Opposing Calyrex formes can really hurt you. Nasty Plot sets and Calyrex-I in TR can run through the team.
-
Snarl, which isn't uncommon, neutralizes your SpA buffs
Some changes I would recommend:
-
Mienshao > Electabuzz: You get access to Wide Guard, Feint, etc. And is a solid answer to dark-types.
-
Amoonguss/Clefairy > Gallade: Gallade is rather slow for the team, you won't get much opportunity to use it. Clefairy or Amoonguss is a strong redirection option.
*Covert Cloak > Leftovers on Calyrex-S: This is to counter Snarl spam or other secondary effect based debuff. Very good with calm mind sets. Also run Tera Fairy and maybe Psyshock/Draining Kiss.
Alternatively, if you want a more offense oriented approach, you can run Life Orb on Calyrex-S, add a Chi Yu or a Tailwind setter like Whimsi and work with that
Though I feel the team's very frail other than the redirectors
https://pokepast.es/e6b83720c21577e8 Should I add anythinh else on this team

Thunder Kyogre with Raichu is anti synergy, Its probably fine but thats something to know
hmmm
If you are struggling with Fake Out leads then adding Farigiraf over Raichu might be good
hm
Should farigiraf be like offesneive??
https://pokepast.es/172239872549fb45 what about this icy wind
probably defensive since I could see a trick room mode working there
But what about torn
What about it
Wait until you see who started the thread
;-;
https://pokepast.es/a0c52992885653bc
need some help, i've been running this prankster tail wind helping hand team to support my groudon against the new popular miraidon teams but running into a few problems being Wide Guard/Trick Room and Kyogre
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
used to have cresselia as a 6th slot with trick room/lunar blessing, icy wind and dazz gleam but removed it bc I din't think it helped
clear amulet is better than wide lens on groudon, run tera fire with heat crash over thunder punch
parting shot>uturn on incin
knock off>protect
was running wide lens to land precipe blades more often
last 2 are up to you
clear amulet is more consistent into intimidate
since incineroar is everywhere
any tips on who to choose over Typhlo and a 6th?
i'll try it out for a few games thx
https://pokepast.es/bb24f8598880b524 Can someone please rate this Koraidon team and give some feedback
Looks good, maybe life orb/magnet over leftovers on raging bolt

I REALLY LIKE THIS TEAM
I would suggest Iron Jugulis > Salamence
And AV Kyogre
Right now, you have a big weakness to Tailwind + Miraidon
I do i keep on losing to him
What exactly does registeel contribute here? An answer to Calyrex-I?
Honestly, I would get rid of Flutter and Salamence, and add Scarf Landorus maybe, and Tornadus
It’s fairy and dragon and steel core registeel kills calyrex ice and and any dark type with body press
Ok throw the core away gotchu
Scarf Lando in Prankster Tailwind does great into Miraidon
I would run Scarf Lando, since Whimsi + Mirai still give you big trouble
And you can go for like, taunt Urshifu-R and AV Kyogre
Would also run Tera Water or Tera Grass on Urshifu
Taunt urshifu-R is something I never seen before
It's a thing
Thanks
Really neat
Why did my team got forgotten behind these last messages tho 😭
Cause your team was great already
True

https://pokepast.es/2415cccccb1f4083 what should I change to counter against caly-i and lunalas
https://pokepast.es/a1fcec509ca5cff8 hows this team
https://pokepast.es/be0da5b904c8ffac anyway to make my ursaluna b slower? if i use room service then i lose out on damage against bigger threats that ko me like Caly ice or groudon

Dozogiri is kinda just bad
In general unfortunately
Your best bet I think is go full offensive and replace maybe ogerpon bundle with chien nite
You can probably win games with this
On miraidon teams electric seed farigiraff is kinda just better than tsareena, it’s bulkier and sticks on the field longer, and tr is nice with hands and to deny opposing ones
Iron bundle is also kinda just bad
It’s not that offensive but u could get a lot better value with something else
You don’t have a restricted
This would be way better with caly I over flutter and Ursaluna b
i never really use flutter so i could replace it for caly
@distant stump Is this much etter? https://pokepast.es/dade1b7b19a97157
@distant stump what about this https://pokepast.es/98b1394e77f97d99
Oh I mean do that if u stick with dozo LOL
Yeah
I still don’t like bundle but that’s fine
Ohh but I'll lose the fire grass water core though
Fire water grass doesent matter really
It’s a treat if u get it but it’s kinda irrelevant as most teams have a lot of coverage
I have bundle to take care of ground and electric
A life Orb, terrain boosted ground-tblast will ohko miraidon
Ohhh I can see the difference now against caly-s and lunala thank you
Other waters ices grasses are just better than bundle
It just doesent do enough damage
To be worth
Cornerstone ogerpon is a common choice, u can probably run like scarf urshifu or smth as well
And you already have speed control
Cornerstone, chi yu, urshifu, other stuff I can’t remember
Yeah good luck
Ive used pao and bax before and both have been better than bundle
Esp since bundle manages to lose to rillaboom
Also should I replace bundle or no?
I personally would
With who should I replace with? Urshifu-r?
You could maybe try whimsi, since you struggle against opposing whimsi/Mirai. Iron Hands is also a nice option
Whimsi/Mirai/Chi Yu is strong
https://pokepast.es/51a42fa79b528c63 replaced Ogerpon with Amoongus. works great
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
Hey uhhhhhh this is my first time building in vgc, can somebody help me fix up the ev spreads? Most here are placeholders. The team focuses on using the sheer power of life orb calyrex-shadow to sweep with the help of chi-yu, so if you can, please keep that, unless life orb caly is unviable.
I assume you meant Trick Room on Farig and not Trick?
Yeah
I really wanna have a brainless team where I can just click the funny button but still be viable
But miraidon teams keep running into that monke
So I went for caly
I would recommend running bulkier Caly-S with spell tag
And maybe goggles on farig or urshifu, and scarf ChiYu
Ok… idk how bulky but is it fine if you can fix some stuff up and send over the paste?
Scarf chi yu ah
mirai-whim-ursa-ditto, ditto for the monkey
How is ditto gonna fix the monke problem?
what i do is always volt switch into monke, then ditto u turn the monkey
That’s kinda specific
yes, because the monke is a hard counter
im effed if they run protect but usually they dont
How much experience do you have in vgc to give me such advice?
i mean, you're looking to play for fun
No my guy
I’m a competitive player, winning is what matters here
if you want to appeal to authority, then go ping wolfey lmao
comp players usually have a team of their own..?
I don’t care about using my favorites so much, what I care rn is really just viability
Comp players play different formats
i dont really understand what you mean
I might be new to vgc but I’ve had experience in many singles tiers before
Some concepts are still the same
Anyways
which concepts are you thinking of?
sure

Changes I should make for lunala?
Calm mind set would be good
You might be interested in these if not Miraidon
https://pokepast.es/fa5a7635e95db8dd
https://pokepast.es/323729afa848d65e
Luna, just why
Why must you entertain Scarf Ape
I think Calm Mind Lunala with Moonblast is better here, you don't actually have anything to exploit Trick Room.
Same issue with Farigiraf on this team, blocking Fake Out cycling is nice but your primary wincon is immune to Fake Out. I'd look into Pelipper which is also strong against the Fake out cycling balance while supporting your team better.
There is a lot that can go in the Raichu slot tbh, but with Rillaboom and Lunala you really do not need a hard Miraidon answer, if it's so scary you can switch to AV Rillaboom and pivot better than Miraidon. You'll probably want your last Pokemon to support Lunala or help against Terapagos
They want to click funny buttons
Shadow claw ape 🔥
Yeah since you're Scarf
Me when I don’t have EV spreads
Dex page at the bottom
Ah thanks
https://pokepast.es/1dcf885d751a55d7 this should be much okay?
Looks good
Beginner team buildorrr. Any help is appreciated
My VGC knowledge is a little limited but I might be able to give some advice at least, double check with a rather thk
Personally, I think Trick Room teams might want at least 1 or 2 more abusers or semi abusers
Ursaluna-Bloodmoon over Landorus seems pretty good here to do similar stuff with Trick Room up and have overall better damage output, and (optionally) Amoonguss over Ogerpon gives you a slower redirector which can also heal you and give sleep, but Rage Powder is worse than Follow Me so idk
I think you can drop flutter lando and pon for like amoonguss bm raging bolt
And make caly tera grass
Oh yeah I didn't see that either
Water is viable but its the worst tera out of the three imo
Idk what you think @fallen valley
Bruh
@jovial creek
(Sorry Ludi i mispinged lmao)
Spore immune is so good
Yeah I usually run grass because it does everything water does except like, resist flare blitz
But it gives the spore immunity
Helps Kyogre's matchup anyway
And beats most forms of redirection esp with Glacial Lance
And miriadon
Oh yeah that too
Also since you're here can I ask you something
https://pokepast.es/45f52bc372112340
Love this team but barely ever used Flutter

...bruh
I just meant to
Okay ykw nevermind at least use this to rate the guy's team above
But anyway
Ive used urshifu a decent amount of times but barely used Flutter, considering changing it
Raging bolt?
Back my bad
Didn't think of that, pretty genius if you ask me
Normal ev spread?
Also which set lol
either
Can someone teach me how to put together a team?
Won't be able to rate today as I'm out of town
3 attacks preferably
I can try
I’m not that good but I kinda understand team comp

Sableye is strictly outclassed by grimmi, no?
Dont understand where damage is going to come from
As a Screens setter, I tend to agree. Sableye can distinguish itself with some of its other status moves, and this team doesn’t make use of those moves. I agree; this team doesn’t put out nearly enough damage, and since it seems to be built in a way that implies longer games, it doesn’t have some of the hallmark Pokémon that help VGC games go longer—namely, Amoonguss. Toxic is not a solid strategy in doubles, and has very niche uses in toxic spikes and Glimmora. The team comp itself is interesting, I think this is the only way to use Lugia at a high level, but I think scrapping everything but Waterpon, Incin, and Lugia would be a start @normal escarp
That being said, i just got cheesed by the psych up lugia with lugia, alolan muk, smeargle and the gen 9 flamigo

What if Calyrex-I was used outside of trick room
With 196 EVs in speed and tailwind, even caly can outspeed a 252 Spe miraidon
Calyrex-I kinda needs tr
all of the pokemon that you would want to outspeed run tailwind
People don't really lead with Tailwind anymore, at least in this reg, that's why I do so here
And in the case they do, I always have icy wind flutter on my back
You could but that would be with Trick Room and Protect on Caly-I
Because the pokemon is so slow, Tailwind definitely won't help you keep up with opposing speed control
Having Trick Room as another gameplan is good.
Oh as a choice? I didn't think about that one, I like it
So should this team be good to go then?
https://pokepast.es/ae4c8a119a5b0ac6
I also changed the Chi-Yu cuz I didn't like how it looked
I'm curious about the Koraidon matchup
I would also run choice scarf Tera ground chi yu, to get the jump on Miraidon
If you intend to use CalyI in Tailwind, I would suggest going all out on speed to outspeed Timid CalyS in Tailwind (It can do that iirc, on my phone so can't check)
Not sure how to feel about Hitmontop, can it atleast survive Draining Kiss from Tera Fairy CalyS?
I need some advice on a team that has been doing good but recently ran into a Calyrex shadow problem paired with a grimmsnarl honestly probably could have won if paralysis wasn’t hitting me every turn but regardless wanted to get some thoughts on this team if possible and some notes on what could be improved
you are missing a restricted pokemon
and just a good pokemon in general
most of those mons are not very good
Damn tell me how you really feel
Yeah this team is rough...
Only ones worth keeping are Grimmsnarl and Moltres
Also how the hell are you running two sashes?
Grim and moltres are good on different archetypes, everything else is very bad
I was being sarcastic but damn
Look into using sample teams so you can get a feel for the meta before trying to build a team yourself. It's not as easy as it looks.
Mb lmao
For sure cause this team was more so thrown together im just getting into the meta itself by watching a lot of videos and battles
It’s had success though against eternatus and kyreum
So props for that I guess
Judging by the lack of a restricted and outdated mons you weren't even looking at videos for the current reg so
lmao
And I suppose you’re the expert then?
Well not THE expert, there are people more qualified than me, but I can answer most things relatively confidently
Again I was being sarcastic
Yeah I suck at social cues, being online doesn't help
Eh true online is more so text 😅
But what would make this team great cause I like the Moltres build but I feel like a pivot would help balance the team so others could switch in
Ok first off on Moltres itself, take off the boots. Hazards aren't prevalent in VGC, like at all
The only hazard you're realistically going to run into is toxic spikes from Glimmora and Moltres is already naturally immune to them anyway
If you want a mon for pivoting, go with Rillaboom, and then going from there you'll wanna go with Zama for your restricted.
Makes sense
I like the sound of that
I have a rillaboom in game but transferring sucks due to home destroying my movesets
Zama I’ve been dying to use
Zama hasn't gotten any moveset nerfs in Gen 9. That aspect actually got buffed to compensate for the stat/ability nerfs.
Rilla hasn't gotten any nerfs directly to it afaik so you should be good, but the normal moveset it used to use still applies. Fake Out, Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, U-Turn
For sure
https://pokepast.es/c37c4bb5c05c2c7c not sure about the sixth slot

Eternatus and kyurem are at the bottom of the pile atm
Raging Bolt seems nice. Also a few points for the team if you want
Yeah sure
- Clear Amulet > Choice Scarf on Koraidon: Intimidate can really nerf it. Run Flame Charge to compensate for Speed.
- Chi-Yu > Iron Moth: Far more powerful, and boosts Flutter and Bolt. You can run Choice Scarf Tera Ground set
- Do you really want to keep Gastrodon and Rhyperior?
Thanks, gastrodon is for the kyogre matchup, was thinking of rhyperior for miraidon, but its a dubious pick
goobs
Sure, I can remove Overheat for Tera blast
Does this tera ground tera blast OHKO tera fire koraidon?
DAMN
Caly-I just barely outspeeds on tailwind Timid 252 spe caly-S, shadow rider's total speed would be 222
New ev spread it is
Oh trust my boi, it can even survive a full HP kyogre water spout if needed
Look at thaaaat
Top ate his veggies, he's just fineee
He even survives when Caly's on a bad mood and goes all out on sp. Atk

that team looks weak to amoonguss
I'd recommend going tera grass zama and pelipper over thundy
are you trying to use kyogre
yes
You might as well go with standard smogon sets for these mons first instead of AV breakbrick kyogre

haveny played in months just threw together a team
I recommend looking at teams on top cut explorer to better understand the metagame
oh yeah the meta ☹️
Like iPet mentioned, team has Amoonguss problem. A well played Calyrex-S with redirection also gives it trouble. Koraidon can brute force through the team. Some changes I would recommend:
- Tera Grass > Fire on Zamazenta: Gets around Amoonguss, better into Kyogre and Urshifu-R.
- Wide Guard > Iron Defense on Zamazenta: Body Press at just +1 does the job. Wide Guard is too invaluable.
- Safety Goggles > Figy Berry on Incineroar: Helps vs Amoonguss a lot.
- Rain Dance > Electro Web on Thundurus: Helps a ton vs Koraidon.
- Heavy Slam > Throat Chop on Ting-Lu: To hit Tera Fairy Calyrex-S and Clefairy.
NOTE: Refer to Smogon standard sets, to optimize.
I'd like to add to the above that Taunt Incineroar is especially useful against Amoonguss, Flare Blitz is in general not the most valuable right now.
Rillaboom wants Assault Vest to better pivot against Miraidon and Kyogre imo, but offensive should work fine, not Life Orb though, one of the biggest strengths of Rillaboom is its longevity, and getting chipped every time you click Fake Out hurts.
With the Tera Grass Zamazenta change, you have the ability to use a real pokemon instead of Gastrodon, which doesn't offer a lot for the team now that you have multiple ways to shut down Water attackers. Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane, and Ditto help with Zamazenta's worst match ups, being Calyrex-S and Miraidon. Moltres-G focuses on being a harder counter to Caly-Ice and Shadow but I don't think it belongs with Ting-Lu.

AV Kyogre 👍
thanks for being zero help !! i didn't ask for you to send me someone else's team i asked for help with my team
You said you have no clue what you're doing
So you can learn vgc and the metagame with a team that follows the same idea
but i still made a team that i liked
If you're primarily playing to have fun go ahead
But if you send a team here you'll get competitive advice

Can you guys rate my team
I have tried this team in a few battles on showdown and I have won against almost all Calyrex teams (maybe 70% of them) but my team seems to struggle against Miraidon teams
https://pokepast.es/9e7a45adad87648f, team for regulation G, got a tournament coming up, how does it look?
Your team looks pretty good and honestly I wish I could tell you more but I don't know much about VGC yet since I'm new but good luck in your tournament
What tournament are you playing btw
VGC doubles in my small city haha my first local
Oh then good luck 👍
tysm!
Should I switch Flutter Mane for Farigiraf
probably
Rayquaza is not very good right now
shuts off weather and when paired with chien pao it can ko boosted zamazenta, as well as terapagos and tera fairy calyrex shadow
it kinda works, I was looking for advise on the support pokemon
probably go sitrus or goggles on incin
other than that if you want to use ray its good
I don't think it can ohko Zama
not OHKO, it's 2KO after a swords dance
I'll change it to sitrus probably, but with aguav berry it heals a lot more, I'll keep trying and if not, I'll make the change
+2 252+ Atk Sword of Ruin Rayquaza Dragon Ascent vs. +1 220 HP / 84+ Def Zamazenta-Crowned: 144-169 (73.8 - 86.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
chien can finish it off with, not to say that this automatically makes the mon good but it does beat zama in a vacuum
especially with body press resist (it lives one even if -1 physdef)
although this is assuming zama doesn't idef & there are more variables to account for so amogus
That yeah
Zama's best partner is arguably Chien Pao
Typing is kinda meh
Pressured by almost every restricted and their partners
https://pokepast.es/3252438e258fa7f7 is there anything I need to change or add?

Team looks very frail. You don't have any TR abusers. Some changes I would recommend:
-
Iron Hands > Long Sneasel: Hands is very bulky, helps against mirror and TR with the AV set.
-
Electric Seed and Foul Play > Throat Spray on Farigiraf: Elec Seed and Foul Play is very strong in Miraidon teams. You can ditch Hyper Voice. With this, you have a solid duo that can work well against opposing TR .
-
If you are running Discharge, run a Ground type like Ursaluna Bloodmoon or Tera Ground Farigiraf. Right now, the entire team gets erased by self Discharge.
-
Helping Hand on Farigiraf: Very strong with Miraidon.
Try these changes, hope this helps. Good luck!
If I want to go with bloodmoon Ursa what should I replace?
You can try it over bundle or inci. Test both imo, see which one you prefer
can somebody rate my team pls https://pokepast.es/647334adbcccb6ec
I'm curious about the addition of Sun to the team
Some issues I found within the team itself would be:
-
Brave Nature on Incineroar contradicts it's Speed EV's. You often don't even need the Fire coverage on Incineroar. You can go with Smogon's sample set instead.
-
Miraidon often has better things to do than resort to Thunder Wave. It's a fast offensive Pokemon meant to take out KO's quickly, and not quite suitable as a support option. Not to mention, not investing in Speed means you won't be able to take advantage of that monster offensive prowess. Also, Dazzling Gleam > Tera Blast if opting for Tera Fairy.
-
Tera Water/Grass/Ghost on Choice Scarf Urshifu, and get rid of Acrobatics (Doesn't get the boost) and Fire Punch (Close Combat does the job, you don't really require Fire Punch, not that it does very little against Amoonguss when you are better of positioning.
-
Clawitzer feels very random. Clear Amulet doesn't help much at all.
-
The Torkoal seems like an odd option considering Miraidon doesn't really struggle against Rain. You are better off running some form of speed control.
Will suggest more changes once I hear the idea behind the current 6, btw
@shut prism
My boy Torc is for sun setting ready for flutter main and getting rid of Kyogre, Miraidon i just didnt know what to put on him so i just slapped on a few moves. Clawitser serves as my healer/big hitter (Clear amulet insures Incin cant just use Parting shot and lower my Sp Attack). Thanks for ur advice for Urishifu as well.
for miraidon you can run specs with volt switch and dazzling gleam over twave and tera blast
Nah Miraidons purpose is to stay in and do wreaking, not nesserily get out.
volt switch lets you hit hard and ohko things then do it again lategame
Ive changed to dazzling gleam too
However, i never ever start with Miraidon, its only there to finish off the final 2 (possibly 3) mons
but you can if you have volt
since you can outspeed and do damage
then still be healthy for lategame
ok, so ive made a slight change in my team which u can see here https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9vgc2024regg-2162088554

Switch urshifu's tera and it's probably good assuming you want to use tsareena
Ok
You want Chien Pao over Archaludon on this type of team imo, synergises with how offensive the team is while being a soft answer to Miraidon.

first vgc team ive made
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
Zebstrika isn't very good, I'd recommend a different electric type like Raging Bolt or maybe Rillaboom to help vs Miraidon. This also frees up Focus Sash for Chien-Pao.
Clefairy doesn't really fit there, that team is very offensive and Clefairy doesn't help with that. You can adjust that slot but something like Incineroar could work to pair well with Urshifu.
Certainly not bad for a first team. The foundation is there, with Tailwind for speed control, Urshifu to take advantage of rain etc. Considering it's an offensive team, like iPet above me said, it would be advisable to get rid of Zebstrika. Electric-type attacks isn't the major threat. Miraidon itself is. Getting rid of it's Terrain is a much better nerf in the long run. With that, some other changes I would recommend:
-
Landorus-I > Zebstrika: With Prankster Tailwind and Rain, Landorus-I can dish out Sandsear Storm after switching in to an Electric type attack.
-
Rillaboom > Clefairy: As mentioned above, Grassy Terrain is handy, and you can check opposing Urshifu-R and Kyogre. The Fake Out is also powerful in general, especially when stalling out speed control like TR and Tailwind.
-
Focus Sash > Life Orb on Chien-Pao: Already mentioned by iPet. Pao really needs that Sash, it gets OHKOed easily.
-
Not a mandatory change, but you can try opting for Tera Ghost on Urshifu, to get the jump against Fake Out users. Would be an interesting tech to consider.
Hope this helps, good luck!

This is good, you definitely want Earth Power on Landorus and probably use a sample set for Rillaboom
https://pokepast.es/969989cb12a677e5 I need help I keep losing with this team
That zama spread looks weird
I'd recommend using the smogon dex one
okay
the only porblem is I dont have enough Evs for Spd and atk so heres this one https://pokepast.es/0be944256a54b5b9
You don't need attack or speed
Flutter mane can provide speed control and body press uses your defense stat
ok
https://pokepast.es/ffde61d6525b6204, lunala tr counter team evs not finalized
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
I doubt flame charge on incin
Flare blitz>flame charge on incin and then the lunala set should probably be closer to the smogon one
Rock slide on ursaluna can also be sub/SD
You are wasting EV's on Ursaluna and Indeedee-F. Expanding Force with dual Terrain feels awkward. Lunala really needs some protection. Most of the team is fully invested in Speed for it to be a TR team. I would suggest going full TR mode with just a couple fast attackers. The changes I would recommend besides the EVs:
-
Swords Dance > Rock Slide on Ursaluna: You want to be able to get around Intimidate, and Swords Dance boosts makes Ursaluna even more of a threat in TR.
-
Flare Blitz > Flame Charge on Incineroar: Incineroar isn't going to be staying in a lot to take advantage of Flame Charge, it needs to switch around a lot. Flare Blitz is much better consistent damage on Assault Vest set.
-
Wide Guard and Trick Room > Moonblast and Expanding Force on Lunala. More consistent way to pull off Trick Room, and Wide Guard helps against the Calyrex formes, which are very threatening. Especially Calyrex-I to your Trick Room mode.
Note: Would recommend the Smogon spreads for optimization.
Hope this helps, good luck!
https://pokepast.es/66b971609855a89b anyone got suggestions? trying to work with a team working around miraidon and iron hands
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
You definitely want to go more offensive with the Iron Hands set, really put that attack boost to use with Adamant and Close Combat rather than Body Press. Also definitely want Fake Out.
That being said, idt the team builds around the two and kind of drifts off course
https://pokepast.es/f41f181909da1415 This is my first vgc team and suggestions for it would be amazing i tested a couple rounds and the main problem is kyogre and terapagos.
safety goggles>heavy duty boots on incin, hazards aren't relevant in vgc.
Volt Swith Raging Bolt is anti-synergy with booster energy, I'd reccomend assault vest with thunderbolt over discharge and snarl/electroweb over protect
Indeedee can also run an attack like dazzling gleam or psychic
Certainly not bad for a first team! Right now, your primary means of damaging Terapagos-S is Mienshao, which alone is not enough. Terapagos players usually carries Flutter Mane, Chi-Yu etc, which is troublesome for you.
Moreover, your team doesn't have any means to get around Wide Guard with your restricted. Some changes I would recommend are:
-
Rillaboom > Get rid of Indeedee. As of now, the team is very linear, and Indeedee-F counteracts your Fake Out users and Prankster Encore. You are also unable to use Feint due to Psychic Terrain should you choose you run it. Rillaboom provides set up opportunities with Fake Out, is tanky enough to survive Tera Starstorm, and checks Kyogre.
-
Tera Fairy > Tera Psychic, and Draining Kiss/Psyshock > Expanding Force: Since we got rid of Indeedee, you don't have to rely on psychic spam, which can be linear in a format where you want flexibility. You need a defensive Tera else you get destroyed by Flutter Mane, Chi-Yu, Opposing Calyrex-S etc. I would also recommend Spell Tag > Life Orb on Calyrex-S.
-
Feint > Knock Off on Mienshao: Your answer to Wide Guard.
-
Thunderclap > Discharge and Thunder Bolt > Volt Switch on Raging Bolt: You don't have any partners to Discharge safely with, and Thunderclap is VERY good, especially against faster threats like Rillaboom. Volt Switch is counter-productive on Booster Energy sets as you lose the boost.
-
Safety Goggles > Heavy Duty Boots, and Fake Out > Bulk Up on Incineroar: As iPet mentioned, no one uses Hazards much in VGC. And Incineroar is a Pokemon that has to move around a lot, so Bulk Up is low value on it, especially when it only runs 1 attacking move.
NOTE: Refer to Smogom spreads to get optimized EV's for your Pokemon, for the intended purposes.
Hope this helps, good luck!
https://pokepast.es/94be35876fbe9a26 really wanna use slither wing i love it sm
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
Choice band first impression is a huge momentum sink if you ask me.
What other item could I put on slither?
https://pokepast.es/4744cfa23e9dd27d im not new to showdown or anything, just kinda stink but I like to use pokemon i like. For sneasler i have unburden and white herb, and i can use close combat to lower my defence, and then the white herb will trigger getting rid of the defects and activates unburden to double my speed (i felt i needed to explain because i havent seen an enemy sneasler so far). I usually send them out in groups, exactly how their set up in column mode. I think some feedback on it would be nice because I dont know anybody thats into compettitive pokemon
im getting used to it my rating is 1119 currently (its now much lower im not doin so hot D:)
What metagame is this
can u explain that further im a bit new
Oh oops this is vgc rates
lol
So you're trying to build a vgc team?
ig
Vgc is cruel and doesn't let you use fun pokemon often
I can continue to help in dms but in here you'll just be directed to sample teams
idk my winrate is pretty decent so far
i dident just pick my favorites. decidueye is a pretty good counter at trickroom ursaluna from the games that i have played, and same with gliscor being a decent counter for incinaroar.
They're not exactly counters
Ursaluna is pretty bad and Bloodmoon ignores your Ghost typing, Gliscor barely 2hkos Incineroar, while being vulnerable to Fake Out and partners. This lets Incin Parting Shot or Will O Wisp around your team more often, an Incineroar answer is a Pokemon that forces it to run away (I.e, Urshifu Rapid) or a Pokemon that punishes the constant switching
ah i see. ima keep at it lol
https://pokepast.es/74332b2cf439a306 replaced the band on slither with lefties
New [Gen 9] VGC RMT @normal stream, @wild sinew, @austere wasp, @hot wren, @wanton abyss, @distant stump, @north tree, @keen escarp, @jovial creek. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
i also have sneaslers close combat for incinaroar
and dicidueye is super slow so he can run in someones trickroom
Not slower than the pokemon that are using Trick Room though
The common sweepers are like Calyrex Ice and Ursaluna Bloodmoon
i usually use close combat on ursaluna and can use reshiram for calyrex ice
and i have haze on decidueye to negate the effect of his ability sometimes
You can try it you want
But it won't really work, Ursaluna ohkos Sneasler and Calyrex-Ice ohkos Decidueye
Your best bet is Reshiram which still kind of loses to Incineroar, Spore, and Pelipper, while also being cleanly 2HKOd by Glacial Lance.
i have been ohko'ed by ursaluna once so far, and obliterated him around about 3-5 times, and I have water tera for decidueye. But your right on the reshiram thing that does happen
I'm impressed that they are ignoring the threat
this channel will be suggesting you the most viable Pokemon for competitive advice and these are only a few issues. You can chose to continue to play with this if you prefer the fun but you won't receive much help.
okee
i would help but i havent played in a while idk the meta enough to help
@wild sinew hi luna
could u rate/help with this plz
Ignoring the slither wing, Flutter Mane should be sash with protect over gleam
Or if you want it to be offensive go specs with scarf chi yu
i dont really know what to do with torn's evs so i kinda just put some into hp spatk and speed
bolt's evs are also kinda just me putting numbers in
oh luna you're in apollo's server, sick
I get using Pokémon you like the teams cool but I would try to implement maybe 1-2 meta Pokémon Gliscor is mid better tailwind setters for sure, Sneasler without sash can go down quick, Decuidye is just kinda bad from what I remember ur running haze so I see the use but just depends on if it can make it thru a turn, Reshiram is just pretty mid rn Miraidon counters super heavy or TR teams and with Empoleon again a lot better options to setup snow
https://pokepast.es/3f96935084363245 can anyone rate my showdown later vgc reg g ingame team.

Assault vest calm mind tech for knock off 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
In all seriousness don’t use assault vest calm mind.
mb lmao
i forgot to take it off
i meant too im just dumb
thanks
i definetly wouldve forgot
You are using alotta ghosts on your team, and last respects isn’t great in a 4v4 format.
thats true but i dont want to get rid of flutter and annihalape because their my only fast pokemon if i cant do trick room.
Trick room teams usually need something fast in case trick room can’t go up
So they can stay
But
Generally, I’ve only seen Lunala be paired with rillaboom and leftovers to abuse shadow shield
oh i didnt notice that. do you think i should invest less into health and spA Evs and get a more into defense and spD to hope that i can keep at full with leftovers
im already gonna get like 60 buffs using expanding force
so the less special attack ivs shouldnt matter
evs not ivs
@past harbor
I just feel like that Lunala is not as great of a trick room user compared to ndw but I could be wrong
97 speed is pretty decent
i did give it a quiet nature
Tho, do you want to keep it?
i already have it in the game and i dont want to find another one
Ah
and i want a psychich to run expanding force
You spent the time to get that 0 atk and 0 Spe
not yet
oh right i cant control that
Yeah then don’t use impish
oh i meant relaxed yeah
Trick room has better abusers than basculegion
tru
i dont like using ursaluna but i could
So I made this box of Pokémon and tried to make some sets for em and well. Let’s say I’m not good at that so I wanted to ask if I could get some help making sets for each Pokémon? (Or for at least some?)
https://pokepast.es/08dce9a42d34db96
Where is your restricted pokemon?
This looks like a singles team
What format are you looking for?
If you are looking for a singles team with no restrictions go play AG
This is for singles and really isn’t competitive. I just want to make sets for all this Pokemon
Yeah then you are in the wrong channel
We only do competitive stuff and finished teams
This is for competitive vgc teams
#comp-general maybe
Oh! Thanks! ^^
Can I dm you?
https://pokepast.es/cb8b54d3020999b2 repost, what could i replace slither wing with?
have you been strugling with anything?
also some of those sets aren't optimal, I'd reccomend looking on the smogon dex
i havent tested the team out yet, but i remember you saying that slither wing just isnt good

fixed it up
looks good
thanks! im trying to get back into vgc, wanted to use slither but im okay with not doing so if it means that the team is better
what teams/mons should i watch out for?
Calyrex-I might be annoying
https://pokepast.es/9cc86e869567e579 would somebody mind giving this team a look over and see if there is anything to improve on
if any of you saw my earlier team i've made some changes like removing basculegion and not making it a trick room team. https://pokepast.es/73f2a6e00a1fd6f1
urshifu-r>ceruledge, Zacian appreciates the incineroar counter and it pairs well with torn
replace sunny day with rain dance
tera fairy clefairy->tera grass. Lets you redirect spore from amoonguss

sooooo yeaaaah....
my team already eats through everything
specially the reshiram-torkoal duo
any way to make it even more unstoppable?
would'nt a kyogre just eat through that
I'm more concerned about Rain Dance Torn
Not running Raging Bolt with Sun feels like a mistake
Urshifu-R in rain and Pelipper can be a major nuisance. Some changes I would suggest:
-
Have you considered AV Reshiram? It feels much better into Kyogre, Miraidon, Calyrex-S. You can also slot in Earth Power.
-
Raging Bolt > Walking Wake seems better long term. Bolt is bulker, has better coverage into Urshifu-R and Pelipper, and can run an Life Orb set with Tera Electric for huge damage in Sun. Just something you can test
nah, I have 2 sun setters, a wide guard mon and rilla
I'm bing chilling with drizzling kyogres
reshiram has a pretty good bulk and a incredible typing, protect seals off the deal and saves reshi from lots of issues
having earth power sounds really really nice tho, and both caly-s (with nasty plot + shadow ball) and miraidon can potentially destroy reshi... I will consider assault vest, sure
and raging bolt, oh dear
I really wanted to include bolt at the beginning for your same reason, but I think that the rest of the setup I've got like rilla for urshifu and wide guard hitmontop for water spout etc already covers these inconveniences, even if having a very strong electric protosynthesis coverage mon sounds amazing
also, I really need water coverage in this team, thas primaraly the reason why I chose wake here
You just refuse to use good mons.
Reshiram is just bad
There is a reason it’s unranked among the vgc restricted
Idk when was the last and first time I’ve seen reshiram in modern vgc
Big agree with this. Raging Bolt on sun teams is almost a must
But is it bad tho?
