Hello! I've been playing CW3 forever on a wide variety of hardware, but usually not the Steam version. I've got the Steam version on my 2024 laptop (i9, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA graphics), and it always makes the fan go nuts. CW3 works great on much lesser hardware, so I'm trying to figure out what's so draining. I just installed 2.08 from my archives (not through Steam) and it doesn't exhibit the fan spin-up. What can I try to make the Steam version less taxing? Thanks!
#CW3 on Steam seems to strain my 2024 gaming laptop

I'm not sure why the steam version would be that much different, unless maybe you turned on steam's passive video recording function at some point. (steam settings -> game recording)
Though it does look like 2.12 was rebuilt in unity 5 to fix some issues, I don't know if there's any performance difference there, but you could also theoretically use the outdated patch on steam to still play 2.08 if you wanted (though submitting scores is probably broken unless you're using the latest patch from steam)
Rebuilt with Unity 5. May address some rare issues some folks see with game startup.
I just had Steam install 2.08 and it's not spinning the fans like the new one does. Unity 5 is a strong candidate. It's the menus, too, not the game.
