I just did the same thing after 40 minutes on the second to last campaign level, loving the game but this just killed my motivation for the night

So.. I think the restart button just renames a folder.
You can restore it manually while the game is closed

I found the reference quicker than I expected:

The game doesn't delete the "story" directory, it just renames it. So you should have a directory that looks like this: c:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\CreeperWorldIXE\gamedata\regions\story_1 . The "story" directory is the current one and "story_1" is the previous one you deleted.

I just realized that you all are talking about the restart LEVEL button, not the Reset Story button.

Reset Story has a confirmation button, and (as I mentioned) can be rolled back

I think I did the same yesterday a few times trying to deselect an unit and then pressed in the middle of the screen where Restart is 😄
