Basically what the title says. About a week ago I turned the game off in the middle of a run trying to level up the assault class to unlock the next one, my previous classes were all about level 10. I came back today, installed an update, and it put me in the middle of a saved run … as the scout, who was level 2. After finishing up that run I went back to the last temple and did a check on what I had unlocked, and it rolled me back to a point where I had only done one run each with the first 2 classes and I hadn’t rescued the lady that’s after the second boss any more. Lost close to 5 hours of playtime if I had to give a rough estimate.
#Quest 2, just downloaded most recent update(s) and I lost a lot of progress

By turn off did you quit and exit 1st? Or just sleep your system? I had assumed it saves between each map and you’d be able to continue from that map should it crash or the battery dies. But from you’re experience it sounds like that might not be the case and it may only really save when you quit properly.
I quit the game through the oculus menu then turn the system off
wow, sorry you ran into this... it should be saving your run every time you go through a door, or start or finish a run
this sounds like the oculus cloud save just gave you old data for some reason?
that would make the most sense, the room where I normally play the game has poor internet connection. Would it be possible that it saved towards the beginning of a long play session and when I started it up this time it gave me the most recent cloud save?
i could possibly see something like that, like it never got to upload the cloud save -- and then it just grabbed the old one when it did a system update? or something
man, that would suck though if that's really something that can happen on updates
Is there any long term local save? or is it short term to then upload to the cloud?
cause if it does save in both places wouldn't it be possible to avoid this just by comparing play time or something? idk just spitballing here cause that would suck if it happened again.
on quest there is not, it all just goes through the oculus save system sadly
on pc we save a backup file and stuff, but i think similar issue could happen with steam cloud
we dont really tell it 'get from the cloud', we just say 'give me save data' and whatever it gives us is all we have
ahhhh, that sucks
