Sorry for the late feedback. Just got past the first boss and wanted to write down my notes so far.

Played on Alienware laptop M15 R3, 2070 Super. Ran excellent at 100% resolution. A bit choppy at 120%. Used Oculus Quest 2 hooked up to laptop via Cable Link.

What I liked:

  • Beautiful world. Well done on the procedural generation.
  • Great weapons handling. Reloading, weight, control. Everything was pixel perfect. Slowing down while holding a weapon with both hands was genius. I didn't like it at first but it really is core to the gameplay. There has to be a give and take and it reminded me a lot of being in the field. You're either shooting or moving. Not both.
  • Difficulty was a bit on the hard side but it was my first playthrough. It's gotta keep the tempo up as I get better so I think it's in a good spot.
  • First boss was intense! Great job. Can't wait to see the rest of them.
  • Bindings were good and in expected places. All the expected locomotion options so kudos.

Bugs/Feature requests

  • System button was overridden on Oculus controller bindings. I think unnecessary since B/Y button works OK. Couldn't get to the Steam overlay. Also Virtual desktop (PICO users) it might not do expected behaviour.

  • White Objective marker with distance numbers caused eye strain. It looks like it’s set to float at about 15 meters distance (ouch). A more friendly way is to set it to infinity (150+ meters) if LOS is blocked or far way. Once the player gets close, infinity will start to cause eye strain so switch it to a world effect once at around ~20 meters.

  • Reset Rotation in XR settings didn’t do what I thought it would. It rotated my view but in the wrong expected direction and didn't set forward direction for loading screens/initial areas. Example: Oculus guardian has my forward as -Z. I switch my chair to face -X. If I hit Reset Rotation at this point, I’d expect for all the loading menus and entry areas to face on my -X on load. Instead it seems like reset rotation just rotated my view 90 degrees counter-clockwise and all loading screens remained at my -Z.

  • Can’t pickup the rifle near the smith forge at start of game. If it's there I’m going to want to pick it up. Not consistent as I can pick up every other gun I’ve come across.

  • Missing candles under flames. Actually looks like a very aggressive LOD. It doesn’t show up until right on top of it.

  • I've never seen Fog done well in VR. My eyes were in a rough shape after those initial levels. The world is beautiful, don't hide it in fog, or make it a late game thing.

- Grabbing ammo while sitting was a bit rough. No problem while standing up. For sitting players, I would have preferred the ammo bag to be right at the center of my belt. Otherwise, the chair or sofa makes it almost impossible to grab. Found the setting to change holster height. Works good now!

  • Comfort settings didn't apply much (or at all) for smooth rotation. I'd expect some kind of vignette for comfort but even while rotating at fastest speed didn't see anything come up.
