#Sign in to error

Hi @night fog. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
A generic "application error" on sign-in can have several causes. Here are the most common things to check:
1. Check If Your Account Is Banned
If your account has been suspended, you won't be able to log in. VRChat's Trust & Safety team should have sent an email to the address linked to your account explaining the reason and duration. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for any message from VRChat. [VRChat account bans]
2. Verify Your Credentials
- Make sure you're using the correct username or email and password. Note that your username (used to register) may differ from your display name.
- If needed, reset your password via your VRChat Profile page. [Account Recovery]
3. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
If you have 2FA enabled, make sure the 6-digit code hasn't expired (it refreshes every 30 seconds). If you've lost access to your authenticator, use a recovery code.
4. Check Your System Clock
An incorrect system time can cause login failures. Double-check that your system clock is set to the correct time and time zone. [Connection Issues]
5. Firewall / Antivirus
Ensure your firewall or antivirus isn't blocking VRChat. If necessary, whitelist VRChat and Easy Anti-Cheat. [Connection Issues]
Still Not Working?
If none of the above resolves it, contact VRChat Support directly by submitting a ticket at help.vrchat.com. Include as much detail as possible about your issue.
Note: you can ask me a follow up question by @ mentioning me again :speech_balloon:
