hey guys just wanted to ask if this a common thing but my avatar cant seem to interact with other avatars' physics objects or colliders

Does anyone know of any issues that could cause an avatar to break toggling between seated and standing mode? It's very similar to what would happen if my floor space was not set to the right height, but it isn't that.
Only the new avatar I'm building does it, and none of my older avatars do it. Even if I adjust playspace height so that I'm in the floor, it'll behave the same way and go nowhere near the floor. Seated mode makes it go on tip toes and standing mode has it slightly less on tip toes. It's really annoying because it makes it impossible for me to reach the floor

Changing playable layers fixed one issue: now it properly goes into crouch and prone if the playspace height changes using advanced OVR.
But. It seems that the toggle between seated and standing mode is the real issue. It is only changing eye viewing height by a couple inches, whereas other avatars change eye viewing height by significantly more.
I'm struggling to find anything on Google about how that's configured though

you can usually drag that into the scene
but if you take whever is in scene and drag it into the folder it creates a prefab
which is now its own thing
effectively the same as unpacking it
in which case makes it so you require IDENTICAL armatures and export settings for it to not break

the armatures are the same as i needed to edit blendshapes
you should not unpack. You should export with the same settings as previously used - if you don't know for sure, just set "apply scalings" to FBX All.

oh, good, then it's correct. Probably the old one has a been moved or rotated or something, take a look at the root object's "transform" component, see if there's the blue indicator that the values have been changed. Right click -> reset if so
its set as -89.98 but doesnt move on editing it

hmm maybe in the import settings. If not you can always just use the new one and use pumkin's tools to copy stuff over

I mean look at your scene and make sure that your avatar is standing on the floor, with +Z going up and +Y going into the screen.
this is not a setting, it's the orientation of your avatar itself.
+Y is going out the back of the avatar and Z is going up

whatever the defaults were are fine, except for "add leaf bones" - generally turn that off
so now the fbx seems to be all connect but now the ears, head, and body are all floating as all the other stuff ive added is still in its original position
and the armature is also in its orignal position too
its just the meshes somehow

unity is telling me that my avatar has to be t-posed for it to be uploaded but when I go into rig and force T-pose and apply it just reverts the second I get out of rig mode?

its complaining that its not humanoid not that its not tposed
It means you have vertices with no bone weight, i.e. not weight painted, so they'll be assigned to the hip bone. Might be fine, you'd have to see if something sticks out.

oh actually reading closer, that's slightly different than I thought, I glanced 'cause usually I see the unweighted one. But still, same basic effect, it's guessing weights for unweighted vertices.

The matching itself is what I need advice on, I've tried manually adjusting, hue, saturation, lightnes etc and I just can't get it quite right
in photoshop you could just make the image black and white with the levels menu (ctrl+L) and then use it as an overlay for the correct colors
its perfect but normally gets me 90% of the way there
wont work if you need a lot of different colors though, works best for a single color with some shading

Ah did you export it as an fbx and did you drag it onto your avatar

It's useful to apply it when you want to set a mesh in the posed position. Otherwise... why would you?

armature being one that edits the position of vertices based on an armature

then go to armature and move selection to cursor and itll center to the gear

please use words to tell us what to look for
in order to align the bones you can select one fact of the gear and move the cursor there and then move the end of the bone to cursor so its easier to animate them
The avatar is a optimized avatar and everytime I try to upload it even though I select a thumbnail and even if I take a capture from the scene itsself it still says theres no thumbnail even though in the video it shows that I add a thumbnail and then it doesnt want to upload. The main version of the avi uploads just fine but when I try to with the Opti it does this. I've never run into this issue before and this hasn't happened with other opti avtars I've made

Ok so in my case its a avi i downloaded it has a base version an one that is ready to upload, base has nothing but it was the one i modified so i need to replace that one whit the ready one, all settings and all are already connected to the base one but the clothes and stuff seem to be still attached to the armature of the ready one so im not sure how to now add the clothes and all that to the base

Dynamic bones are deprecated, but if you mean Physbones, no. You'll need to add a collider plane at the base of your avatar to do this.

make sure the weight paint for any rigid item is uniform over the entire item
you cant mix weight paints between bones
each cog needs to be 100% weighted to only 1 bone

if you renamed some then it breaks the mapping

weight is only contained in vertex groups - delete them and it's gone. Parenting isn't relevant.

you could do this with one animation with the speed parameter in the animator state, on a normal layer rather than a blend tree

I figured it out!!
unfortunately it wasnt with the speed param you suggested but i was trying to use VRCFury and realized that it was telling me the physbone wasnt set to "is Animated" at the very bottom of the component.
Me being stubborn i went back and retried the float with a blend tree and this was the best result i found. ( i dont mind the cute fast little wags at the begining; its kinda cute and the rest of the slider works as planned aswell so im happy with the result <3)

avatar was fine but i added an extra audio file and after that it gets stuck at that little chunk of server processing and then only loads as a robot. no errors in unity, building a vcfury test avatar doesnt reveal any issues, and it works fine with gesture manager

There are naming convention for unity humanoid bones. But you could also just name them whatever you want.

im trying to create a dissolve toggle for my character, how would I do that using material animations?

Also make sure the dissolved color has the target alpha you want, 0 for transparent. The number of times I've set this up and forgotten that detail is... well more than I'd like.
is there a way to change feet height from the ground based on the toggeled outfit so the shoes dont sink into the floor when u toggle different outfit
You could do it with a blendshape, but that means work in Blender (or similar)
Im making clothes for an existing booth model so i dont think i can change the blend shapes as i cant include the base in the file
it already has a higheel shapekey that rotates the feet but doesnt make em higher from the ground

Texture scrolling can be done by animating texture offset. But quest is limiting what shader you can use, so you have to think more how to applied the effect within its limitation.

Unless that is the only error in the console, please show the first 2-3 errors at the top of the console, and don't clip quite so much so we can see the console window itself

err on the side of showing us more info rather than less. And again, I am looking for the first errors, which are at the top, you have 4 errors listed but show two, and are scrolled all the way down.
You can make this easy by turning off warnings and info messages - the white and yellow buttons at the top right.

It's the JSON error, you can't upload right now even if you wanted too. Wait until avatar uploads are actually back online for VRC, and then try again

Yeah, you can't upload avatars at all because it seems like they prioritized getting the game back up versus getting everything functional

Same here I have wasted at least an hour. I went in troubleshooting and actually checked for like textures that might be having problems and went into the code head writer and checked there as well and it wasnโt anything so yeah itโs 100% servers

click the down arrow next to 'create new project'
then 'add existing project' and select the folder
it probably uses a vrcfury toggle component right? if so make sure it doesnt have 'default on' ticked in the options

view sphere should be right between the eyes, in the bridge of the nose

unity is so weird about this, I mostly ignore them, they'll get set properly in play mode or in game, to whatever the values are in the animator's parameters

if I shrink part of the blendshape to fit the clothing, it also shrinks parts of the body in a way so that it'd look weird

I'm playing with Particle Systems and I have one set to looping.
I want to make it stop emitting then start emitting again. How can I do that ?
I can change the looping state to false so it stops emitting but is there a way of making it start emitting particles again without disabling and enabling the gameobject ? Because that would erase all particles still present in the air if I disable and reenable it quickly.
Maybe I need a buffer particle ?
You can animate the emission module on/off and that should do what you want!

Are you using visemes for speaking, but still have a jawbone mapped in the rig setup? Remove that mapping.

find your model file in the project window, click it, go to the inspector window, select the rig tab, click "configure", select the head tab, remove the jaw bone from the slot if it's there.
most of the basic avatar setup video tutorials will show this, if you need visuals

The one on the left is the hierarchy, the project window is the one at the bottom which says "project", it lists the files in your project.

when you click around, look at the inspector, the thingy where properties go
in there you can also see assigned materials - click on the material to find it
when you do find it, make sure you have an assigned texture and shader

Is there a solution or even a need to fix the importFBX Warnings: generate normals for blendshape '$BLENDSHAPE' on mesh '$MESH_NAME', mesh has no smoothing groups? I can "cheat" around to fix it by auto smoothing, but that gets rid of blendshapes on export. I can also change smoothing to shapes or edges on export, but that breaks the normals in unity.
I have an avatar where it's hands close/curve too far in (into the palm) when i close it with my quest conrollers.
When i use index controllers the hand closing is only proper when I put the fingers on "legacy mode"

Hihi everyone, I'm needing some help figuring out how to add toggles for specific pieces of clothing when they're all part of the same asset. For example, the hoodie, shirt and pants are all part of the same asset but I'd like to make toggles for the individual pieces rather than just toggling the set on and off. Would greatly appreciate any help!
if it's only one game object you'll have to use other methods, such as blendshape shrinking, or UV tile discarding. Both of which require work in Blender or similar.
I think I know how to do it with blendshapes but I'll look into the UV method as well, thank you for the keyword!
