@astral python Dynamic bones would negatively affect the CPU of the Quest if they were allowed (considering it's a 2 year old mobile processor). You'd experience a lot of lag and crashing. Polycount is more GPU based but keep in mind that the more polygons = bigger file size and the Quest only has 4GB of RAM. If you use all of that up by loading your own avatar and other 59k poly avatars in the room then you're gonna crash. Same goes for material count except they use draw calls so they're gonna bog down the CPU

The max polygons on quest, and be seen by default, is 7500. So 59,000 is far too high
You’ll have to make a lower poly version of it in blender, otherwise it will be rated Very Poor on quest and no one will see you unless they mark you as always visible
Otherwise you have the option to connect the quest to PC and use the PC version where you do not have these limits

Can confirm a quest with rebuff reality’s VR Power added sill fits in the travel case just fine, no one asked, I just thought it was neat.

I'd recommend looking into how to disolve edge loops, it gets way better results than decimation. Decimation just sort of makes you look like a crumpled up piece of paper.
I can always tell someone was ran through a decimate modifier...

You must obtain at least "New User" Trust Rank in our Trust and Safety system in order to upload content. You can get this by just spending a few hours in VRChat, hop some worlds, and make some friends. Give it some time and you'll be able to upload content in no time.
As an aside, you must have a VRChat account to upload content. That means you can't use a Steam account, Oculus account, or Viveport account to upload content like worlds or avatars.

Yeah, it's a win for sure. Quest only avatars are super rare. I think it only happens because people are lazy. All Quest avatars are PC ready but not all PC avatars are Quest ready.

Quest, aside from comfort and refresh rate, is a straight upgrade over Rift S in my opinion. And with some mods it’s more comfortable than Rift S

I actually bought my quest under pressure because I assumed if I waited, a revision would change it to LCD instead. Might have just correctly banked on it.

i like the Oled displays on the quest it's sharp but i think that the new quest will have LCD displays, like the rift s but in my opinion rift s is just garbage because of the problems it has and with a quest you have the best of both worlds if you have a pc that can run pcvr,and i think that the next quest will replace the rift s and not the go i don't see a new oculus go coming anyways.

If the new quest has an IPD adjustment of some kind, it will certainly be automatically a step above Rift S by default. But who knows if it will. I cannot use Rift S just due to it's lack of IPD adjustment and being well outside it's supported range.
Very happy with my quest, even if I only use it over Link.

Hand tracking is software. There would be no way of knowing a new quest does or doesn't have hand tracking, it just means you weren't shown that it has it.

it has a far lighter build if you look at the placement of the straps and how they connect to the headset.
it puts more weight onto the face of the user, rather than being supported by the straps
and on top of that the straps are far less supportive, showing there is less weight needed to be supported anyway
and even further, the quest is the same weight as most hmds

It’s a white headset so everyone just assumes it’s an Oculus Go.
And as someone with v2 touch controllers those are not v2 touch controllers. They are v1 with the ring inverted. Which is way better.

i have v2 as well, if you look at the locations of the buttons compared to the joystick you can see its the v2 just white, they used it just for this render as its barely noticeable

They are more designed like V1, the top is circular again and the handle part seems a bit longer and fills the hand better. The battery cover looks like it's moved back to where the v1 were.
According to the leaked drivers, the new controllers update at twice the rate, have new internal sensors, and maybe analog capacitive touch

Yeah v1 touch controllers were way more comfy than quest/S’s v2’s. The white ones in the shot there are v1’s, with the ring inverted like a v2. They have the circular face which doesn’t poke the base of your thumb and they have the sensors resting spot for your thumb again

I consider Quest the better purchase over a Rift S, even if you only plan to use it as a PCVR headset. The mic is much better quality and the OLED screen is nicer than LCD, and it has an IPD slider.
However, I do NOT recommend Quest if you only plan to use it without a pc for vrchat, It’s nice to have the option but vrchat isn’t enjoyable to me unless the quest is running the PC version.
Quest world selection and all the blocked avatars make the standalone quest client not really worth it in comparison. I can never join my friends, and when I can, I can’t see them,

I think its really gonna be a quest lite or its gonna be a quest v2 and less of a successor since it's a little early to release a completely brand new one when they have plans still for the quest and improving it
I don't know if I'd wanna buy a new headset every year or two years, and the quest still has a lot to give so I think a quest lite or a quest v2 or 1.2 would be a better idea. Quest lite would bring more people into vr and could maybe have differences like being an lcd screen so the frame rate is unlocked more or a quest v2 could do something like the switch revision and just be the same device but with a few tweaks where needed to be a bit better but not a fully new thing

I'm sure that the leaks we've been seeing are a lite version. The build quality looks much cheaper, but the fact that they have new controllers makes me think there's a new successor coming as well. It wouldn't make sense to make whole new controllers just for a lite version

Those controllers looked iffy at best and I'd doubt those are real since they were really sus on that render with them looking like the touch controllers and the quest remote had a child
If anything one or both of them are fake and there could be nothing even coming yet or something entirely different
It's a bit of a bad practice move to replace something so quickly (unless you're apple) specially when Its selling well

There were real life images as well as the leaks. And it makes perfect sense to change the controllers. The original touch were more loved, and in the leaks for the new Oculus controllers, they talk about new drivers for faster hz, new internal sensors, and analogue capacitive touch. Like I said, I think these controllers were designed for a new flagship, and the new quest lite is just getting a version of those as well
I highly doubt all we're getting is a "downgraded quality quest"

Those controllers look like the exact same shape as CV1 except the inverted halo of a Quest/RiftS. If that is the case I trust they are very comfy. CV1 controllers were a master class in comfort, at least for me. Quest/RiftS controllers ruined the thumb comfort by making a ridge

I'd go ahead and get the Quest now, I'd say it's worth it
Plus you can connect your quest to your PC with Oculus link once you get the better pc, then you can do the same things as pcvr players

VRChat on Quest’s native app isn’t very good. However, Quest itself makes for a fine PCVR headset for when you do eventually get a VR-ready PC, and it can run the PC version of VRChat just fine

I think the quest version deserves a bit of love from the devs and just a bit of fixing up cause honestly its not the worst way to play vr chat compared to other versions, even more so once you boost your quest's cpu/gpu levels to 4 cause usually the only issues I have now are the black boxes and the rare complete crash. Hell If I was able to I'd just add in all the shit myself cause I really love this game and all the friends I've made on it and I don't think we should get shafted

I just wish they would add in some well needed improvements, I don't think it'd be impossible to add in a basic video player to the quest since other games have it on quest. and audio sources shouldn't be that big of an issue with performance if even at all. I fell in love with the game on desktop but I was broke at the time so I went with my only option for vr at the time that I could get which was an oculus go and I played for hours just being one of the few people that used a go to play vr chat on pc. and that only made me want to get a full vr headset more and when I heard the quest had vr chat on it I was more then willing to sell my switch and everything to it so I could get a quest and play vr chat

I'm glad for what we have and how the quest version runs, it's amazing the game even runs on quest and as well as it does. It could just be a choice thing for audio like seeing avatars is and where it's on you if you decide you wanna hear avatar audio or not
I know I could just use the PC version of vr chat and just be fine but there's something about the quest version that the PC one just lacks in terms of feeling and community, I've found some of the best people on vr chat with the quest version and other quest users more then I have on PC. It's kinda sad seeing PC users make fun of people on quest or hate seeing them when In reality the quest version is hella good for what it is. It's always for petty things too like not being able to see PC avatars or haha wow it doesn't run at 100 frames

@tiny osprey If your bf has a Oculus link or similar and a good PC that is VR ready, it should help with the lag issue and should improve the graphics and memory and processing since the PC and quest are essentially working together to bring in high quality imagery
And if he's linked up and is running the steamVR, he should be able to see both PC and Quest (if I'm not mistaken)
Oculus Quest headset by itself is meh on th graphics side of things (my opinion) and as I mentioned before, hook it up to a VR ready PC and the graphics should improve greatly

Menu is still a laggy mess, particles are broken, and switching from standing to seated is also broken as hell sometimes. What the hell happened to this game

It should work. Oculus is just another method of rendering. It's more making the PC work vice versa, IIRC.

My avatars laying down animations are broken, I fold in on myself whenever I start moving around while laying down and going from standing to seated play makes me float off the ground for a second or 2 and just puts me back into standing.

well i dont have a quest so i can't tell you everything that but i can tell you some stuff
so either pressing down the joystick or holding Y opens the mini menu form their you can click on anything to open that tab stuff
you want to 1st go to [Settings] and on the top left their are 3 check mark boxes everyone will tell you about
HoloPort (turn it off if you want to move WITH your avatar)
Comfort Turning (turn it off if you want smooth turning but keep it on if you want snap turning)
Personal Space (turn that off so you can get close to people without them going invisable due to proxy)
and Hold both Trigger and menu to enter safe mode and you can turn it off by going to safety and clicking normal

The devs constantly say “oh we fixed ik and animations” but the same shit still remains from the 3.0 update my avatar still folds in on itself when using prone idle animations and my hands are offset by like 4 inches when in prone idle

Quite a while back everyone wanted audio to stay, but the devs didn’t listen. They said “too many audio sources” as if they forgot the setting to turn off audio was a thing.

I don't know if it's against the rules or anything to say this but if you really want vr chat quest to run better and look better you could just use sidequest and edit the quest settings changing the CPU/GPU level to 4 and setting your resolution to 2048
You will need to note that it will kill your quest faster naturally boosting it to it's limit but it helps for just vr chat
I wouldn't recommend using the 2048 resolution on any other game as it completely lags out other games but that's on you, the resolution will reset whenever you power off your quest but the CPU and GPU level is permanent untill you turn it off yourself but there's no real reason to unless you want longer battery life
Again I will advise you that this is on you if you try these settings cause as with anything a number of things could go wrong and also turn off 2048 resolution setting and go back to default because it will lag out other games slightly or severely specially beat saber

Oculus Link: I don't have a USB C Connection on my PC, only USB A 3.0 and am looking for a recommendation for USB Brand I can use instead, when I look on Amazon, I not only get mixed results but also people claiming that some USB Cables even can damage the Quest. I would just buy Anker, but the C Connector is not 90° Angled for some reason and when I would look for an Adapter the only ones with good reviews are as expensive as a completely new Cable.

Anyone else having the problem where when a world is loading, at some point the stops and then goes back to 0.00% and stays like that for a while before they send me back home and say the system ran out of memory when i clearly have more memory left and yes i did clear the downloaded content of vrchat from the settings of the game yet they still say the system ran out of memory

Ok well here’s where the Oculus Link comes in handy
You plug in the oculus link to your PC from the Quest. If you have steam it should allow you to play any VR game you have on there that’s not normally on the quest store

Pros: Has a lot of cool social apps, and games, has a good resolution rate
Cons: Refresh rate isn’t the best, Mike Suckyberg (Misspelled on purpose) is already planning on making a Lite version for some reason, VRChat won’t function as good as other VRs
But it surprisingly runs well despite it running on a Snapdragon 835
