Doing steam link vs cable, I found something really interesting.

I've found steam link (without Ethernet) 5hz to be much clearer than link cable which was very surprising. And I've also found it be much more reliable.

Ok cause i keep getting a notification on VRchat saying “Low memory disabling some features”

That doesn't have anything to do with that.

The low memory warning is about RAM, the thing a Quest 2 only has 6GB of and a Quest 3/3s 8GB.

You can't get that notification to disappear completely, all you can do is show less memory hungry avatars (look at the uncompressed stat), be it the one you are using or the ones others are using and be in less memory hungry worlds, although there is no way to really know how much memory a world is taking up.

also just to be clear, memory = RAM, it is not storage, phone manufacturers have been confusing things for some dumb reason.

I have one friend who made audiolink for a world, and a poor performance avatar with audiolink. So I was able to see it on mobile.

It can only work within shaders (and the only exception I can think of isn't being used because it is way too jank).

You can only do it with trickery, like reading the audiolink value on PC and using OSC and synced avatar paramters to bring it over to Quest.

never did that myself, but explains what my friend did. he did mention OSC being used. just like how Quest users play music from their mics.

OSC wouldn't be used for playing music from their mics, it is just for parameter data.
For the fanciest solutions they would just be mixing a external microphone and that music before sending it into a USB-C dongle, since the Quest supports usb mics.

sorry wasnt reply back i just woke up and yes, i use OSC and use Spotify for Audiolink in OSC and program i made is running parms with Bass, Mid, Low and etc what do use standered lite shader on quest and use emissions with hue system animated then have your own Quest Audiolink but since no shaders out for Quest have to use OSC version

this example OSCAudiolink, just use hue animator and use OSCAudiolink app then use spotify and etc i give u preview of app looks like i made do this soon coz just woke up

The pixelated versions are called imposter, it’s sorta like a fallback. So it’s an avi that’s pc only but there’s an imposter of it that quest users can see. I believe you can also use for your fallback to so quest users can see. But if you go to show the avatar and it doesn’t turn on then it’s a pc only avatar

Idk if there’s any way to actually turn off imposters though

keep getting low memory and keep Saying to many avitars for everyone i see and nothing has changed on my quest 2 i have lots of space in my quest 2 . I dont know why it is saying this or doing this . This promlem needs to be fixed i have good enternet so i know that is not my problem. This is not just happuning to me but all of my friends as well so what is being done about this. being kicked out of places for low memory is a problem when i know i have enough and pay for VRC plus what is being done about thies two problems.

That warning is not about storage, it’s about RAM (like short term memory, much quicker, but smaller)
The Quest 2 only has 6GB of RAM, which is used for both the CPU and GPU
~2GB is used for the OS, leaving 4GB to run VRChat, including temporarily storing all loaded avatars and the world for being rendered by the GPU
If your avatar is Very Poor, or you’re showing a lot of other’s avatars, you’re going to run out of RAM and get the warning
To fix it you can hide more avatars, and stick to only showing more optimised avatars, or go to smaller worlds with fewer people

You can also do this temporary solution. Press the power button once, then again to turn it on quick. But anymore avatars shown will be same issue.

Evening everyone I need some help, I'm trying to set up PCVR for my quest 2 on my HP AMD Ryzen 7000 series 5 laptop but its like super laggy on steam vr and air link, It runs completely fine on pc stand alone but not when I hook it up should I buy a link cable or is it just not compatible?

Assuming it is the first result of that laptop I can find, then yeah, the RTX 2050 isn't very powerful and will definitely run into issues with only 4GB of VRAM.

Like it should still be able to run VRChat, but going into any populated instance will drop you below 90fps

Uh, that isn't a good sign, that would be Integrated graphics only, which definitely can't play VRChat in VR, can you open task manager and check the absolute bottom, there should be an AMD Graphics and Nvidia.

Ok so yeah, you can't do VR, it only has integrated graphics, they'll be enough for desktop usage in most cases, but in VR you are running VRChat in what is basically a 4k display and attempting to run it at 90fps.

Like, you can still attempt to do VR, but you will need to lower your resolution a lot, it may not be worth it over just using it standalone, but you will need to be the judge of that.

We really need to bump up the Quest avatar size limits. The 10 MB cap is way too small, especially when PC avatars can go up to 200 MB. I think we should raise the Quest limit to 50 MB, but keep the default block for anything over 10 MB. Also, it would be awesome if VRChat added an option for Quest users to see "very poor" avatars automatically, so we don't have to click on everyone's profile to turn them on. It's just a hassle and makes the experience less fun.

That will bring it down more. You are .08 away from the max.

When making a PC only avatar Quest compatible, you can remove components like pic 1, or reduce resolution like pic 2. I did 50% crunch compression with this one. I had a more experienced avatar editor tell me to do crunch compression at 70% for each texture.

Next level to get it to poor rank will be me learning blender if I choose to make it so.

If you connect a quest to your pc it’ll use your pc to run the game
If your pc can run vrchat better than a quest, then yes it will perform better (and you’ll be able to show many more avatars which will stop impostors)
But, if your pc can’t run vr well (or isn’t powerful) it will run much worse than it does on the quest

I think you'll need to plug it into your main device, unless your GPU's usb ports support USB 3.0 or higher (note, your cable needs to support it too)
Some GPUs just have display passthrough in their USB-C ports and aren't fit for link

Hi guys, I tried playing vrchat on my oculus quest 2 last night for the first time. It’s kind of laggy in some areas, is there a way to resolve this, or should I just hook it up to my computer and play like that?

I have seen several different options, some use modmic wireless, others use wireless solutions like the Rode Wireless Me.

The Quest does support USB microphone now though so if you used a adapter to keep the headset powered then you could use one of those.

@mild tulip If you are playing vrchat on stanadalone, go to the big menu, and in settings, under graphics you can lower the amounts. Also utilize avatar culling, and custom settings for non friends as voice only. Then shown at your will.

I'd recommend against it. Any strap has issues with headphones fitting really.

Also, the cloud 3 is well known for bad audio quality, especially for a lack of bass (favored in gaming headphones)

Memory is not storage, phone manufacturers have lied to you.
The "not enough memory" warning appears when the Quest 3s is running out of available RAM (only has 8GB), it cannot be upgraded and there are no tweaks to make it appear less often, all you can do is be in less memory hungry worlds (no way to tell aside from guess based on world size) and show less uncompressed size heavy avatars.

3. There is no way to use passthrough like that. The closest is using Virtual Desktop and chroma keying out the background, but that of course doesn't work on standalone, also passthrough is extremely performance demanding so doubt it and VRChat could co-exist.

Question about microphones. My quest 3 microphone stopped working so I have been trying to find options of external mics to use. I've only heard of ModMic but, I was wondering if maybe those USBC earphones that come with a mic should work too? And if it does, I also have a strap so should I use a usbc splitter? a hub?

I have also tried those bluetooth earbuds but they don't capture any audio.

Firstly, you should check with Meta support, microphone not working is really annoying.

And yeah, microphone input can only be usb c devices (enabled in experimental settings, to my knowledge it is still there).

A usb c splitter would be the easiest, one of those where one side is for power and other audio, just make sure it is rated for 30-40 watts (forget what the Q3 draws, but it is at least above 20 watts, probably above 25 watts)
Also do be aware that VR headset mics are pretty good in general so pick some good external mic, the modmic is a common suggestion for headsets that have terrible mics and they are solid

To be honest, I got in contact with them and nothing we did fixed it. For a moment, I did think about opening it to figure out what's going on with the mics but I figured it's not really worth it.

Modmic is kinda expensive for me right now so, I will probably buy one of those lapel microphones and connect them directly to my computer. That way I won't need a splitter.
