Go the unity route. You can learn to optimize it after you achieved what you want. Dw about blender. Just apply the blush to the head bone and change it there. You can sculpt in unity using Polybrush, which is a unity tool.

I've got some questions for the Quest Pro users out there.

1). Face & eye tracking. Do they work when you play oculus link + SteamVR or os there... some fiddling required in order to have those on PC? (if you can at all and that's not a standalone-only feature, like the hand tracking is)

2). Battery life. For Quest 2 there are plenty of battery straps available, but is there something like this for the Pro? I doubt that battery life is that great, especially for a leisure game like VRChat. But most importantly, the controllers. With non-pro you can just swap the batteries, but with pro you have to charge them and they only last for so long. It just sounds like such a hassle to me. I usually spend many hours a day on VRChat and I'd like to know whether Quest Pro is worth considering at all.

I've been using the Quest 2 with AirLink for a long time now and it works good enough for me, but I really like how face tracking feels in VRChat and would want to experience this feature myself. Since I don't have any base stations it seems like Quest Pro would be the cheapest option to go with, but is it any good for a "hardcore" gamer like me? I'm only planning on using it to play VRChat tho. (Any other useful info is appreciated ^^)

1. it works, but preferably you would use Virtual Desktop or SteamLink, then it is as easy as turning on face tracking in them (with SteamLink changing the OSC port to the other option) and starting the VRCFT app.
   Double preferable if you are already playing VRChat in SteamVR, cause better performance.

2. There are no battery straps for the Quest Pro, can't replace the strap. I either connect to a battery bank in my pocket or straight into a wall outlet.

Quest Pro controllers last 10-12 hours if new, the vibration is on low intensity and not active often, I have not had any issues.
You can not charge them while in use even if using the charging cable.

When I have had to charge them I just either take a break or use Virtual Desktop's ability to track my hands position (it does not track gestures, only position) as that is better than no hands.

Personally I like the headset, love the face tracking, but does require having an avatar base with good face tracking, you want it to be noticeably expressive.

Obligatory not a quest pro user, vive pro eye user (also has eye+face tracking), but I do know the face tracking isn't natively supported and has to be done via OSC on specially set up avatars, eye tracking via OSC works universally, mouth/eyebrows requires specially set up avatars, the software that's used is VRCFaceTracking.

The battery question I can not answer though

Yes, you will want to join the VRCFT discord to see the various avatar bases that have support or got face tracking "DLC".

If you aren't uploading your own avatars then you better start, face tracking kind of requires it.

The vive facial tracker is discontinued, so the only way one would doing it is by making use out of DIY projects, ie project babble and eyetrackVR.

Mouth tracking is relatively easy, you just need a camera pointed towards your mouth, ideally with an IR camera and IR leds. Not sure if the software is ready though.

Doing eye tracking is however harder and finickier. Lots of small wires, not a lot of space to work in.

Regardless, it is significantly messier than a made for face+eye tracking solution.

Yeah, I've heard about these projects as well. However, eye tracking in particular is what draws my attention the most. And I don't think I'm willing to deal with the current DIY solution. It's just way too complicated to me and I feel like I might mess it up as well.

Well, and... mouth tracking without eye tracking is just not worth the hastle really since eyes are just so much more important to me. And that's why I'm looking into Quest Pro instead of the DIY approach.

Borderline not worth even trying wireless VR if the PC isn't connected by a ethernet cable.
You could try using Window's hotspot feature for a more direct connection, but it has its own stability issues.

Regardless, I do not recognize that issue, sounds like something is setup wrong PC side, worst case a clean install of Steam on the PC might help.

Try window's hotspot feature, should rule out it being the wireless network.

oh. . if that is the only graphics card in your computer then it isn't going to be running VR, definitely doesn't help that AMDs graphics cards don't work well with VR, or pretty much anything not directly gaming related.

I updated my graphics card and processor recently to the rtx 4070 and ryzen 7 5800x3d. i finally decided to start up my good ol quest 2 again to try playing vrchat through steamvr, so i opened the oculus software on my pc, got told to update it, and after doing so it gives me the error "Graphics card not compatible with Quest Link. Headset can't be detected or paired." when i click the learn more link it specifically tells me 40 series cards very much should be supported so im really confused now. I tried connecting anyways, obviously didnt work. so does anyone know how i might be able to fix this issue?

i should add that my wifi is garbo so stuff like steam link or virtual desktop is not really an option

Bobo vr sells a bundle with their battery strap that includes 2 magnetic batteries and a charging station. One battery is always charging so you basically have unlimited playtime. Just swap as needed.

Hey if anyone can help, my friend got a Quest 2 yesterday and he’s been trying to play VRChat , but everytime he does it crashes about 5 minutes in.
We turned down his graphics and did all that and it started working for maybe 20 minutes before he changed avatars and it crashed again. Does anyone know what to really do about smthing like this or is it just impossible for him to play❓ I have a Quest 2 and I’ve never had this issue. His wifi is fine as well so it’s not a connection issue.

Start by making very aggressive custom shield settings. Disabling basically everything from every trust rank aside friends. This will mean that they will manually need to turn on avatars that they wish to see, but it is a solution that ensures not too many avatars are loaded at once. I would also adjust avatar culling settings as well, so that more distant people arent loaded in unnecessarily.

Then just install the virtual desktop streamer on your pc, once it's installed you just open the virtual desktop app in your quest

For best performance it's recommended to connect your pc to the router via Ethernet cable

pull the batteries out, unpair them from the app, repair once again. make sure they are always in view of the front of the headset, thats how they track
