My video players have spontaneously broke in my uploads, when they were working 1 upload ago. my unity and sdk are both up to date, not sure why it isn't working when I haven't changed the video player..?

Hi guys, does anyone have any experience getting the SyncStreamPlayer working with a twitch stream?
these are my current settings and dont work when uploaded/tested
Try testing the stream in a world with a video player that takes input. I've had problems with some streams in my stream player. I think it's either a problem with the resolution or audio format, maybe. Like, Unity can't play a video unless the width and height of the video are even for example.
Also, I'm not sure how it handles Max Stream Quality if the broadcaster is using higher than 720P resolution. Unless things have changed since I last checked, quality options for streams don't show up for all streamers, so if they're broadcasting higher, it may not be able to find a suitable stream to play.
We're running a music event tommorow in VRchat and we're using a twitch stream to sync everyone in the world to the same music. So if you have any idea on what OBS settings we need to use please lmk. Otherwise we'll have to experiment
Previously we were using the syncvideoplayer to play pre recorded sets from youtube but that thing is so busted that we cant really rely on it anymore
Not sure exactly; I never stream. I'd suggest 720p resolution or lower, and make sure the width/height of the stream are even numbers. Can go to a world where you can paste in the link then test with different OBS settings until you get a positive result with trial and error. ;P
good idea, yeh we're limiting ourselves to 720p cos our stream computer is pretty average
is there a working way to make it so when i fall through a mesh collider fast via gravity or it moving, i don't go through it but instead bounce off of it backwards?
i imagine it has something to do with physic material and setting bounce threshold in settings but last i checked, you couldn't alter these settings or they have a null effect in vrchat. has anything changed?
Ok so I ported my entire project to unity 2018 and the Sync players still arent working

I had a few worlds with working cars but the 2018 update broke them. I don't know if this is something that can be fixed yet or not because I haven't tried yet. I heard that there were some issues with the unity standard assets pack which I think this car prefab relies on, so maybe that's why they don't work. If anyone knows more about this please let me know.

Yeah the seats should have colliders. The cars worked perfectly before the update

Does "Disable Station Exit" not work anymore on chairs? I'm trying to lock a player into a chair, but when I upload the world, I'm not being locked to the chair, and the option unticks itself in Unity.

i have a camera in my world, with a culling mask of Player and PlayerLocal. The issue is that the player head dissapears sometimes. is there any other layer i absolutely need?

How do I apply a mirror to another flat object than a plane? I have a circle shaped mesh which is flat and I want it to be a mirror.
does anyone know why my mirror makes my grass disappear while moving my head around while looking at the mirror?
@frigid estuary the object must be oriented in unity's +z direction, same was as a unity quad
In blender, you will want to work with your mesh facing up in +z, so it will likely be sideways
Basically: blender's coordinate system is rotated. Your mirror needs to be flat on the z axis in whichever program you use. Also, the mesh should be one sided so make sure it faces the right way around
@night bronze it may be a consequence of how billboarding works to make it face the viewer outside the mirror. I don't know a solution for terrain grass to look good in the mirror, but you can try changing the material to use a double sided shader

Well, if the world is upside down, or there is no collider to stand on, or your vrcworld location is somewhere else
the world is right side up, the world has a mesh collider. the vrcworld is where i placed it? when i select the prefab it goes to where i placed it. whats really strange is when i remove the mesh collider im floating but just stuck in a falling animation

i assume it has to do something with VRC stations, but everytime i try that idea, the animation doesn't play as intended.. animations work on the MMD models just fine, just dont know how to make the animations override everything

you can either do multiple cubes, or find the set of stairs you are looking for in the assets store.

it depends on which one is the actual mesh itself. That's where you have to put the mesh collider

it should be fine then. For something that looks like that, that type of outlining is actually appropriate. But just to be safe, I would run a quick test to see if it is ok with your standards

You collider is set to be convex and with how those stairs are it's gonna make a pretty wonky collider
yeah, how can i do it myself
Easy fix would be to uncheck the convex collider option
But that's also not the best for optimization depending on how many polygons those stairs have

I'm having an issue with multiple worlds of mine where the mirror is reflecting my avatar only half the time depending on how I turn my head, appearing in either my left or right eye. I updated the SDK and I reimported all my shaders. I don't know what else I can do?
First you might wanna get the correct version of unity that looks like 2019 which won't work with vrchat @toxic gust
@bold ibex have you tried just placing a brand new mirror prefab and seeing if it happens with that too?
I almost did. Uploads on this particular project I was testing it with just take about 20 minutes because my skybox is super high res. I'll replace the mirrors with new prefabs and see what happens.

but the near clip also affects it
if you near clip too low on high ranges it affects the high range as if it's cutting it off
idk why that is
Low near clip and high far clip cause weird problems you can most likely google a more technical explanation from somewhere
one cool thing with far clip is raising it into the +37 range and there's an area where it all feeds back in the skybox infinitely

Something is still messed up with me and my friends test build. World isn't updating any changes, stays stuck in old version.
I even dettached the blueprint and it still shows the previous build of the world

you needed to delete the old sdk/&plugins folder then restart the unity project with those files removed, then after the SDK tab is gone, reimport the new sdk @toxic gust

SDK2 is the legacy version you'd use if you just wanna migrate to new Unity/SDK. SDK3 is Udon stuff and the old system doesn't work with it.

one to reveal the HQ and hide LQ and one to reveal LQ and hide HQ
now I want that if u click the button 2nd time it closes the current mirror, cuz right now u can reveal one of them but not hide any so once u show it's stuck revealed

It's a little difficult to hear
just guessing, but usually one would attach the music source to the camera in regular games, could be you can do that with the reference camera

When I click build Unity tells me it can not access the scriptassemblies folder and does not build. Anyone had this issue before?
What is the easiest way to test multiplayer world stuff? I make a second account? Is the process:
- Hit the Build & Test button
- Load both clients
- Log out of one client into Account 2
- Join the online uploaded world with both clients?
It takes a long time to do all that

You cant use build and test for network testing IIRC. You need to publish and then join with two vrchat accounts

@thick flint Nothing I've heard about it changing, but there is a max limit of 32 audio sources that can be playing concurrently (including player voices + audio sources on avatars, etc.) Your issue may have something to do w/ that

I guess I should clarify that when I said I didn't modify anything, I meant nothing outside of increasing the range of an audio source. I guess that's probably it
Increasing the range could make a difference because Unity should use audibility (among other things like the priority value) to decide which active audio should suspend if needed
it's hard to tell with the Udon audio source component. I find it pretty confusing tbh
I get it though, audio is not an easy issue to solve when you have so many people in a world plus world audio sources
and avatar audio sources for that matter
i just installed unity 2018 and put in the new SDK and now it does not work. I get this "all compile error have to be fixed before you can play" error and when i look under VRChat SDK there is only Utilty > clear Cach and PlayerPrefs ... and nothing else. How do i fix that?
You have unity console errors
i deleted everything again...files and metas...reimported the SDK, restarted and now VRChatSDK does not even show up in the menu tabs

@mental verge it's a problem with the SDK. If the preview for the cam in the scene is fine, it'll still use that as the image for your world.

it worked, it was just showing the color but when i uploaded it fixed
still have the same issues i saved the scene an exported it to another project an the vrcsdk works fine im not sure whats causing this to happen in that project

u have 6 tools, use the squared one, the 2nd to the right
u can always click the object instead, and on the top right u'll have X Y Z stuff under 'Transform'

I looked for answers on this. I could not find and I am sure someone will slap me for what is probably obvious. I have a world ready for testing, but when trying to build and test, it tells me there needs to be exactly 1 vrc scene descriptor. There is one absolutely one, it is from the udon sdk prefab VRCWorld. When I click out of it, it launches VR and just loads me in to my default home world. I am not sure if this is an udon question or not. Fresh project, fresh installation of the SDK. Only error on console is "Error building Player because scripts had compiler errors". Not even sure this is a related error. I am just trying to Build & Test.
hypothetically speaking, if you were to set every mesh to static, would it impact performance alot?
Not deleted, it just didn't reopen the scene, you have to double click on the scene to load it back manually

Is anyone else having issues building/testing worlds? I'm not sure how it all works, but I've been working on my first map for several days now. It was building/loading just fine until today. I restored a backup from a known good backup, and it is no longer building either.
so despite having the status of being allowed to publish worlds, whenever i try to test one it doesn work, at this point i have no darn clue what it could be, its not my world that im working on, cause it wont do it for a simple plane. its not vrchat app, i reinstalled the entire game. it cant be the sdk, i reinstalled that too, and theres no errors pertaining to the issue, so im just completely stumped. im using udon, but it shouldnt go in that channel cause in 90% sure its not the sdk. help?

i reimported my sdk, and for whatever reason, i can now upload my stuff, but not test.
If it starts loading and throws you back into home world the best thing to start with is look at the vrchat output log and see if there's something weird there
I have - other than the error above, there isn't much there. Three similar errors and that's it. The backup isn't uploading either, and I know it was uploading just fine on Saturday (when I backed it up) :x

Unfortunately that didn't show me the issue, but I did find my issue. My unity was opening VRChat from the batch file, not VRChat.exe. Clicking reset to default fixed it for me. Now it's all working again

nvm i found how to reset it yet im having the exact same problem where it kicks me back to my homeworld
so looking at my log, right before it defaults to my home world the log gets a bit freaky
seems like i fixed it, just ended up removing the second spawn point
is there anyway to add a mirror material onto another object? simply adding the material and transfering the mirror component over justs shows as black unless i add a mirror to my screen, in which it just copies what the other mirror sees

Is your tent marked static?

there are some relatively complex items that are joined to the tent mesh that may be affecting the lightmaps actually. let me seperate those and see what happens.

To make a third person camera, you will need to make a new camera object. Make sure to have it disabled by default or else vrchat will disable it on world load
Then use animation or trigger to turn on the camera component when needed

Do linked objects in blender import into unity as instances? I find it much easier to do placement of multiple instances of an object, like plants, in blender than to futz with them one by one in Unity. Will Unity recognize them as such?

Community labs is pretty random, I think it comes down to how heavy recent footfall and how long people stay there for. One of my friends has had their map on there for 6 months and it's not come out, where as I've had maps be on there between 1 day and 2 months.

There is an error in your console log that mentions you having scripts that are failing to compile
Building worlds will fail if you are having errors in your console log or having scripts that are failing to compile
You want to go into a console log and look at errors to find out what fails to compile

Hey guys, I'm working on a world with SDK2 and I built an object that can be picked up. It's set to the pickup layer and a player can grab it, but if they put it underneath their avatar the avatar starts to fly up into the sky incredibly fast. Walking over it makes the player jump as well. Is there something basic I'm missing?

So, I cant build and test my world, just to make sure the basic stuff I have in there isnt causing frame issues. It boots into vrc with the spinning logo, then just closes, and I have no console errors, or builder errors either.

One of the warnings is talking about check boxes missing, then beneath those the VRCFlowManager was attempting to get the remote config and default blueprints, and after it performed an update check it had an alert about something being Uninitialized and then invoked disconnect.

Yea I did manually change it, following the creating your world guide. Ill put it back as the vrcworld.
Edit: Put VRCworld as the spawn again, and vrchat still crashes on load.

is there like a page for stupid little questions, like uh
for instance, how do i make this cylinder not push people up into the heavens? i set the capsule collider to height 0 but nothing changed
And with capsule colliders you can't really have a physical height of zero

is there such a thing like a box collider? it just kinda added the capsule by default
The height just changes how much it extends if you understand what I mean
ohh.
You can just remove that collider and add a mesh or box collider using the add component selection
