Yeah the og quest is discontinued and the rift s will be discontinued ina few months

@vocal shard the newer chipset would allow for more sophisticated effects, but it's likely any additional potential will be expended with increased image quality and refresh rates. In other words, clearer and smoother, but the graphics probably won't be a dramatic improvement.

If you want to run the Quest 2 wirelessly, I've been told Virtual Desktop is the way to go. Although for faster paced games, I'd recommend sticking to the link.

I cant seem to access VRC worlds directly from the website, whenever I enter a world a friend is in, i'm the only one there. I HAVE updated the client, and worlds arent empty when I use VRC from the client. Its just when I try accessing worlds from the website. Can anyone help?

thats fair I'm just boiling with anger four years, a temp ban? when I was fourteen in a minecraft world I was temp banned for a week, it was for grieving I did that purposely cause I was a teen, now a days I'm extremely careful on online games I don't want to break rules, and look I'm temp banned for four years for a modified client even though I don't use mods... ok I need to stop this will turn into a rant XD

You should see them. Visitor means that others will see you as grey bot if they have disabled visitor user's avatar in their safety. Could be a slow net or Cloudflare issue. Moment, I will check cloudflare on their status page...

If a message is deleted, the only way to see it is in the logs, and in 99% of cases only the server admins and mods can see those. And to get it back to chat is has to be sent again

Becoming verified by the trust system is based on reaching a not time based trust score, which's exact algorithm is unknown to prevent exploitation.

You presumably need to play the game in a normal manner with your VRChat account, walking around, meeting people and also making some friends. Idling won't help.
According to many responses in this discord, a rough estimate would be 20-40 hours, but big exceptions are possible.

Make sure you are not using a steam or oculus account and continue playing the game until you get a notification or e-mail.

Why did they change it so the only way to clear cache in game is by restarting the game now?

It's already forced to be saved on my main drive which is my SSD so I barely have any room, so it was nice to just clear it in game, but now I have to leave and rejoin VRChat every time it fills up now, otherwise it just crashes cause I can't clear it in game easily anymore...Hope it goes back to how it was...

That is not how computers work.

#

If your computer dies from an overload, it did so because there was a fault existing. (Or the fault it self can also be the base reason for the crash to begin with.)

Theremal limits and automatic shutdowns are there to protect you.
But before that the gear will automatically clock down these days anyway

Most CPU's will even work without a cooler for a tiny bit... ofc as soon as it draws anything it'll thermally overheat, downclock and if not possible shutdown when pasin TJ Max.

So I have been using VRChat off and on for a few months with 52 hours logged, mostly enjoy exploring and jumping between worlds. I now would like to jump into using custom avatars but I am running into the common problem of being stuck at visitor level and Unity prevents me from going any further. Just recently merged my Oculus account with official VRChat page and that did nothing. So the problem is likely my lack of friending people. Any suggestions on the best place to find people looking to add to their friends list? I do jump into a lot of public worlds, but I am not the type to just start up a conversation and really just want to get to the next Trust level so I can use a custom avatar.

hey guys i got a question for yall. im torn between getting the HP Reverb G2 or the Valve Index. if you can tell the difference between different hz numbers is different for everyone. Someone might not notice the difference between 30hz and 240hz, but some people can even tell the difference between 240hz and 360hz

kinda. The only real difference is clarity in most cases. So textures are higher res, and the game itself will run at a highe resolution. Some games make the game itself look different tho so it really depends. Atleast the ones I played practically look the same, but are just a bit lower resolution and stuff

I think VRChat has so much potential if they release a commercial version of their platform. Like hosted enterprise VR experiences. For meetings or for showing off content and environments to prospective clients. Or for a full virtual campus for the WFH future.

It's so much more rich than what I see out there, but no one seems to look at the potential in a non-recreational light.

Companies could pay freelancers to make fully custom VR showrooms or whatever they want.

Or just use pre-fab meeting spaces

Pay a monthly fee for a custom closed platform branded version

Or market it to museums for virtual experiences to let people from around the world export spaces they will never be able to afford to see, or can't because of covid or some future condition.

Right now, no one I know will take it seriously though because if you make content for it in the current open world edition, anyone you invite over to the space will also be in global VRChat with all the trolls and lewd stuff.

Which is fine for recreational content, but not for customers like I mentioned above.

As a platform to enable multiplayer experiences, the potential use-cases far exceeds what it can be realistically used for in the open-world model.

And making that stuff is probably not that much more effort. I mean they already have the beta and mainline versions co-existing. And I'm sure the build and infra for all that is automated.

Like, for myself, I want to create a virtual education space for Folding@home, which I am a volunteer for. But they aren't going to be very interested in promoting something like that in VRChat, because it is going to get bad responses from people who run into the lewd stuff or trolls.

But there is no alternative multiplayer VR platform that I know of for more serious projects. So you would need to develop all that, which is soooo much more investment than making a VRChat world.

I personally know multiple organizations that could benefit from something like that, especially as VR continues to explode in popularity. Heck, I even get negative feedback from some that I refer there for just recreation and to see some of the cool content people have made.

A simple solution for the lewd stuff would be to just have a NSFW flag that would be required for all avatars/worlds and people wouldn't see that content if they didn't have NSFW content enabled. That is how Google search handles searching teh entirety of the internet but trying not to censor, to be useful for both professional use and for the NSFW things. They don't limit content (beyond legal requirements), but segment it off unless people want to enable it.

I mean VRChat has a kind of free-for-all culture which has it's own benefits. It feels kind of like going to DEF CON and seeing how there is a minicon for every subculture and there is literally everyone there. But it also prevents huge new market segments from considering it as a platform. And the tech is so powerful that it would enable so much stuff in those areas.

And the market isn't going to get cornered by facebook or something either, because they went too far in the other direction forcing they VR stuff into the facebook real-life only identity model.

Killing any hope of privacy and eating all the rich data about their users, which is going to get even more creepy when all the headsets have eye-tracking and they and get all the data about what ads people look and whatnot.

idk where to put it but a few days ago a vrc or steamvr update broke my fullbody tracking. im runnin the oculus vive mix and match setup and use openvr to pair my vive trackers with oculus but it no longer works
