The easiest way would be the stereo mix if your soundcard supplies that
just be warned, you wont be able to use that for VRC, cus everyone would hear them self talking too. (and all other audio)
Else there is apps like VoiceMeter, the base issue does not change with that program either tho.

I use virtual audio cable but you’ll still need a mixer if you want to use in a live mic without hearing yourself.

Where do I find avatars that I marked as favorite? I'm only seeing the following groups in the Avatars section from the Quick Menu: Public / Legacy VRChat Avatars / Avatar Worlds (What's Hot) (Expand to Show) / Avatar Worlds (Random) (Expand to Show)
Both Avatar Worlds sections are blank as well 🤔

@vocal shard because theres more ppl (so more avatars to load) the second time or theres ppl with more complex avatars there, or your own wifi was slower the second time at that point

I finally bit the bullet and used Tafi to make a custom avatar that somewhat resembles me. Tafi took forever, but says it's uploaded. However, I don't see an "other" section in my Avatars menu, which is where it's supposed to show, per all the info I have. I also don't see any new avatar listed on my account on the VRChat website. Is there something I missed somewhere? Does Tafi no longer work, due to all the recent avatar changes? Do I just need to be patient?

yo, idk if anyone can help, but today I've been experimenting getting VRChat working via. Virtual Desktop on the Quest. Miraculously it works so I can play the steam version of VRChat now. Only issue: the image quality is very overexposed, as in, its too bright. So, are there some settings in SteamVR/VRChat/Virtual Desktop/Quest/my PC that can fix this brighter image?

Well if it is virtual desktop causing it you can mess with it settings on the dash in the headset. there are color correction settings there

Check virtual desktop color correction there is absolutely an option that darkens everything
But really pCVR is way better once you have that USB-C port. The image clarity becomes the same as native quest games
And no color weirdness
When I upgraded to the index I was happy that I could full body and not lose tracking when I’m not looking at my hands and all, but in terms of visuals? It wasn’t much of an upgrade over Quest over charge cable at all.
Actually I would say quest link looks better than native quest games you don’t have that blur around the edges

That would be very hard to maintain and while not against the rules it would be considered very rude to host other people’s blueprints without their permission, even if they are public
It would certainly make you quite unpopular to say the least
I can see something like that happening if/when they add better avatar on-upload options like disabling cloning, pedestals, or favoriting per blueprint.

The only solution that way is a hack together system. You'd need a cardboard hooked to a computer with a program to make it think it's a PC headset. And then probably another program to simulate head tracking position

before you should even consider making a hacked together vr system.... You still need to make sure you computer is VR capable

And friends list does update now. Sometimes you just need to let the menu load for a few seconds before scrolling or doing anything. Since we're getting a whole new menu UI soon, it's probably not worth changing code for the current system and risk breaking something when a new one is coming soon

Same as how things have to be done in stages. For example we've had avatar physics collisions on the canny for years, but only now that we have 3.0 out does that lay a platform for the team to finally announce things like avatar collisions are coming soon. Things have to be done in steps, otherwise we could risk larger issues.

I'm saying there's so much going on in the background, and things sometimes have to be set aside and wait for something else, and then once that happens, all the other updates that were prepared but waiting for that can go out
I really don't have any info regarding development. I just know the team does care and has reasons for why things seem to be delayed.

You have all these grand, or even fantastic ideas that should absolutely work in theory
But in practice when you take the idea from paper what you get is a mess of complications and like playing plinko only a few of them make the cut
It's not anyones fault, it's not even incompetence. It's limitations that have to conform to other limited systems. The more effectively you want something to work the stricter any standard has to be for something to be added onto it.
Eventually if you don't clamp down on the scope of your ideas you'll burn out, lose sight of the biggest picture because your goals were too much to take on for what you had, you get disappointed and then the project grinds to a hault as you try desperately to figure out what to do next, potentially even losing some developers in that mess.
I don't envy the work you have to do. Millions of users each wanting one thing or the other, and to update the game and do what you feel you need to for what has gone from just a project to a legitimate product, you have to treat such a razor thin line that it's impossible to make any significant changes without disturbing the natural order that has settled.
You don't have the luxury of just doing what makes your team like it, you now have an obligation to consider the performance issues, the preference sets, and the operating specifications of as many users as possible, and are always woefully tasked with picking who you want to please more with any given update. It's truly a grinder of a duty to fulfill, and people don't see that part of development.
So many good ideas thrown out the window because we just didn't have the ability to do it due to limitations now outside of our control, where, had we come up with those ideas from the start things might be completely different for better or worse.. you just can't know, and the most depressing part, especially if developing a real game like an RPG or something, is that sometimes just so that you can make it work, it has to be settled for good enough. Content will be stripped, ideas will go unfulfilled, limitations will rear their ugly head, and through it all you either learn to let it be "good enough" or watch it fail, or even worse you get something like star citizen where they just.. keep..... going?
From a users perspective they don't see the picture for the lines. They don't see that every stroke has to be considered and deliberately placed in a specific way. They see the big picture, but always think they know better or just appreciate it for what it is. Some people will take your picture, edit it, and use it as they see fit. I suppose that's valid in most cases, that's culture too. But with game development it's not just one picture, it's dozens and they alllll have to compliment each other or you get spaghetti.
Sorry for the tangent, it just struck a chord with me what you said. I totally get it, and it's worth saying that the process of not only developing a game, but doing so within the confines of pleasing the demographic that brought you where you are today, is much akin to walking a tight rope while trying to carefully drop coins in the plinko machine, each coin valuable but not every one of them will hit dead center and it's hard to do so without pissing someone else off.

One other note; This is why I SERIOUSLY admire the design stories of games like super mario or ocarina of time.
Working with what you have, finding more ways to push the limits and create something so good it's anomalous for its time.
There was so little room for waste that almost every last thing was very elaborately designed to produce depth in ways that you wouldn't have found developers and creators coming up with without said limitations. In a way, it really shows what I said earlier. So many ideas cut, so many amazing things that you wanted but never got. Things have to be scrapped, redesigned, rearranged, remade to fit a limitation or constraint be it player engagement or technical limitations. When you manage to walk a tightrope that fine, and the end result is still a legendary product, all I can do is admire in awe.
I strive to be like that, some day.. I try to intentionally limit my scope to make every decision I make in creating a very elaborate and specific design choice. Scope-creep is dangerous.

you can head over to vrc traders to find someone to commission an avatar. But be aware that you need at least new user rank and a lot of money, since commissions usualy are priced at around 200-2000$ (depending on the person and complexity of the model)

To be honest, as long as you don't mess with gang groups you mostly won't be affected anyway, and alot of them talk tough but in the end don't do things, so you can join pugs, just don't mess with the wrong people and you won't risk it.

The only real ones you have to worry about are ones that can get past safety settings as there are people who can do that, but its rare to run into unless its a gang, or ones that can force log you out.
Even then that's more annoying than perm.

Crashers who get around blocked animations/shaders are annoying. Only way to stop them is to completely block avatars

Oh I meant people who completely get around blocks too, I had a group of them try to harass me once because they were mass friending me so I annoyed them by making their client go crazy, they proceeded to get triggered and kept trying to kill me.
One of the more annoying types of players rn are the ones using that new cheat that lets them yoink avatars even privated and instantly reupload them.
That's toxic as heeeeeck.

Luckilly I think the exploit requires you to be wearing it at the time, so as long as you don't go in publics with anyone who has it (which is rarer already pretty sure) you're avatar is safe.

Yeah, as long as you steer clear of wrong crowds you'll mostly be fine, but there are some groups specifically targeting people now so just don't do anything that gives them reason to bother you.

the video comes from the avatar. i block everyone and i still see disturbing video. i change to my own avatar and it disappear. new person come and get avatar on pedestal he shout about the video he sees too. That is pretty sad

But none seem to be interested in just being cheaper vive trackers to be used in steam vr 😔

kinect is eh. I have one and its pretty hard to calibrate it 100% accurate. I always stand in the middle of my playspace and position the trackers so they are at the position theyre supposed to be, but when I sit down on my bed behind me the trackers are offset. When I try to fix it, the trackers are offset at the center of my playspace

i had friends prefer kinect to actual vive trackers. they ended up returning them and switching back to kinect. i guess its just preference. but i will say that wth kinect, you cant turn around or anything
