It does not fall back. Only one of our synced video solutions use AVPro-- syncVideoStream

If you are using Proton and are in a world that uses that component, you simply won't get the video

we made that change as AVPro uses WMF libs to play video, which obviously doesn't exist outside of the windows ecosystem

and AVPro doesn't fall back/remap functionality to the internal unity player-- namely, default unity player cannot play streams

Basically this is a "well, its an easy fix, so lets just put it in to help the handful of proton users"

For simple things, Avatar 3.0 is easier. It's easier to set up blinking and eye trakcing, you don't need to do it in blender anymore. it's easier to activate a shape key when you do a hand pose, you don't have to add in the hand pose to the animation.

The more complicated stuff is only relevant when you want to do things you couldn't do at all before

One bizzare thing on CV1 on steam, is you may be stuck in low framerate, unless you open and close the steam menu until you eventually get high framerate, and then you're good for the rest of the session, unless you open the steam menu, then you get a random framerate again. It's like there's some bulk of randomly sized memory that gets stuck allocated every time you close and reopen.

if you can provide a way to reproduce it reliably, that'd be very useful

we have a good number of people on the team using CV1s and I've not heard it from them, so there may be some other software or etc interfering or causing the issue, too

so keep that in mind

I remember when it would do the opposite and freeze my vrc, but run smoothly in the menu. I just hope I can figure out why my avatar is bugging out/vibrating/fidgeting

I have that issue sometimes, usually opening and closing the steam menu fixes it for me as well, luckily my index comes tomorrow so lol

Running smoothly on the steam menu is normal. it does some resolution downsampling while the menu is open

most annoying thing with the CV1, if you open the oculus menu, sometimes you will get stuck to 11 fps until you restart the game

the vibrating/fidgeting is a seperate issue

aaand the low FPS after opening an overlay is a general VR issue-- steam runs into it as well. Its a VRAM fragmentation problem that only we really run into because memory usage is unbounded (user generated content, woo)

I did what one user in that canny suggested and upped the TDRDelay thing to ten seconds, as it hangs the headset graphics for a while after an avatar loads

but thats still not enough

avatar loading causing hitches that long is a separate issue-- the fault lies partly with the avatar loading process (but you can only do so much to prevent it from there) , and partly with the content itself being very poorly optimized (yeah, let's load 10 8k textures for a flat-lit shader woo yay)

Does not refer to the one where:

• User 1 can see User 2 (nameplate and avatar) but cannot hear them
• User 2 cannot see or hear User 1 (no nameplate or anything)
• Only seems to be fixed be rejoining the world

I deleted all the folders, cache and data in the VRChat folder thats in the Appdata/LocalLow/VRChat
(desktop mode only) now im getting 100+fps in my 6KB world 🙂 but with some hicups of 70fps at times
maybe a clearing of cache files should be recommended when a new build is made
