Yes, but they'd need lighthouses to track.

It can be done, but you need lighthouses and steam controller dongles to act as receivers. The controllers don't actually pair with the other headsets, they just connect to the dongles and you can sync the playspaces in steamvr

Why you don't sleep in VR? Because you risk damaging the headset while you sleep and even if you don't you put hours of wear and tear on the device. Hours you aren't even actively using, just passively.

You want to burn through your headset that fast, that's your right. Knock yourself out if you want, though if you want to understand why most don't I think that covers it.
