Hmmm well yeah, depends on what you want. Quest is versatile, mobile, affordable, but limiting in performance.
Index is comfort, expensive, full finger control awesome for sign language, but stationery.

pc's have more power. And that extra power is often really useful. And most laptops are a bit weaker and not really that great for having alot of stuff open while youre working on a project (programming, music, editing videos)

It’s not so much usb 2.0 vs 3.0, the important bit is going in via USB-C directly into your GPU. If you can’t do that, you are better off using virtual desktop.

The rift S has a limited finger tracking ability, and different finger positions activate gestures. If you have your fingers just touching the trigger and grip button while your thumb is on the stick, that's the neutral hand gesture and you can move around without activating anything

A thing VRC could do would be to supply HD textures to world creators, and store them in one location so that every time you join a new world which used those textures, you'd load the same reference. Right now, all worlds will be downloaded seperately even if they use the same assets, and they are likely to use different assets anyway

Even then, the biggest problem that worlds have is textures, and they can only be compressed so much. There's a lot of things that world creators can do to help performance, but if you have HD textures they will take up a lot of space and there's nothing one can do about it

I've been sleeping in there for 4 years and my oculus cv1 broke obvs and that can't be from

Trust score can’t be bogged down in the long run. It doesn’t stop, it just keeps going up even after you are already Trusted. You might get dinged a little early on but it will just delay the inevitable purple tag for a few weeks to a month tops. Eventually you are deep into the purple.

i already asked this in #vrchat-general-1, but i'm sure i'll find an answer here, do i need to do anything to the oculus quest to play vrchat, because when i tried with a new system it just didn't want to work, it lagged so hard the screen started to blink on and off, strange part was that i could still see the 'play area', and the borders, which were fine

It really seems like it's different for everyone. I ranked up to new user from visitor in 4 hours and got up to trusted user in 400 hours. Meanwhile some have almost a thousand hours and are just users. No idea how it works

Yeah another thing is if you go into safety and press advanced close to the top and it will say something like high, poor, or very poor. If you put it on very poor it will let you see poorly optimized avatars as well
