hey anyone know why when i start vrchat in steam with an oculus rift s 87% of the time it ignores the right controler and combines the left and right controls onto the left controller? tracking is still fine for both controllers but always the in game menu appears in the right hand

Yeah. I don’t think it’s an issue with how the avatar is set up, I think it’s vrchat itself. Every full body avatar I own kinda does that.

The official docs say that having toe bones will help with walking IK, I haven’t tested it but they do recommend having them

So hopefully someone can shed some light, i just got a nice computer built and getting into vr, i want a headset is the next step, what would you all recommend that is not the htc vive (1200$ new 1000$ plus used is not in the budget lol) oculus looks good but so many different options ive seen online. There's also the new HP reverb coming out in September for $600. 4k resolution and decent inside out tracking, but the controllers lack any sort of finger sensing ability like oculus touch or finger tracking like index

Yeah with the pandemic and the manufacturers shutting down production the rift s is only 399$ but .. because you can’t really find any in stores and have to order from sources that wanna jump the price it is minimum $600 for a new headset and about 550 for a used, and unfortunately the other headsets like HTC has increased as well. But yeah I was looking at the rift S basically because it’s the only affordable option right now. Really appreciate you all jumping in and helping ❤️

quest is a standalone headset (that can still be used on pc) rift s is made for pcvr
quest only has 72hz, the rift s has 80hz (yes you notice that difference)
on paper, the quest has higher resolution than rift s, but due to compression when using it as a pcvr headset, you dont notice the resolution at all. The rift s is actually sharper because the video is not compressed. And also, the quest is front heavy if you use it for extended periods of time. And the battery only lasts for 2-3 hours

The CV1 felt more premium and I like the headstrap. The rift S is plasticy and bulky, but not uncomfortable. The quest feels very premium, but the weight is all on the front and it kept pressing into my cheeks and sliding down

I feel so. My 3 sensor felt confined after getting used to inside out. You can move around much more, and according to some tests, the update controller rate on the rift S is quicker than cv1

It was for me since the CV1 cameras can only see 70°

In smaller spaces it made a difference near walls and things where the cv1 had blind spot

I wouldn't go back to cv1 over the S, but there are downsides. Audio isn't good, controllers and build is cheaper, the headstrap is bulkier, if you have to have OLED, it's not the one for you, and there's the ipd issue

Rift S you'll get a good all around system for $400 and very basic finger sensing ability.

HP Reverb G2 for $600 you'll get higher resolution than the index and lenses and headphones made by valve, but the controllers are just ok

If you use yours 10 hours a day, you might be right about the RMA. I think the reason I have escaped RMAs is I am not using mine intensely. I get my fix in an hour or so, sometimes playing for as much as 3, and then I'm done.

The event's channel is so confusing and I never figured it out. What server link? That link from the post goes to a google calendar with an event explanation. The only way you know about the events is being a part of that server first it seems.
