I came here because I love 3D CAM/CAD and have become very proficient in a number of applications. I am a "user" on VRChat, I spent a lot of time there, but I still cannot upload my own avatars. It continues to note "you are not yet authorized".
I follow the rules, I don't bother anyone. I was kicked before but I never knew why because I was just chatting with someone without bothering anyone.
I am an author and I create my characters in 3D. I would really like to be able to use them on VRChat :/

Just play as normal, socialize, explore worlds, make friends etc. and you will eventually get ranked up. Once you reach new user, you will get an ingame notification and an email informing you that you may now upload content. Going AFK does NOT count. Please also keep in mind that you'll need to be using a VRChat account for content uploads, not a Steam account!

hmm did a small performance comparison with cloth( 1089 verex) vs dynamic bones (108 collisions) ... dynamics bones reduce fps by 20 while cloth only reduce by 3 (same model/same world and same motions (no other users) weird that cloth is so little used for skirts etc because the sdk gives such a heavy penalty on it

I only came across that rift S mic problem once when using a specific pci-e USB port for my rift S. My other motherboard ports don't cause any mic issues. Apparently it's a bandwidth issue.

But either way, I have the old cable, and only had the robotics mic sound when using my pci-e port. Apparently it was a bandwidth issue and some have fixed it by using Bluetooth headphones.
Mine works like normal with the motherboard USB ports though. (I play with mic loopback so I hear how it sounds)

Oh. A DDoS is a fairly rare occurrence. The standard thing that a script kiddy will do is crash you with an avatar, since that doesn't cost money. Unless you have adequate proof it was them, then reporting them won't exactly do much.

Vive trackers are 3 points of pos-rot data, with a very high refresh rate. Other full body methods don’t have that high degree of fidelity that’s why they take less CPU.

Interesting that the NASA funded study seems to demonstrate a pretty low degree of fidelity with Vive tracking at anything but a stationary state. Yet other methods appear to achieve sub millimeter accuracy in all cases, even though with a lower refresh rate.

At inhuman speeds (it was robot moving in the tests), they even measured an 8m error at one point lmfao

Basically, don't assume high refresh rate makes it high fidelity. In fact, high refresh usually implies a more raw result without any correction or smoothing. Though I'm sure Vive tracking employs some.

Ah yea. I certainly wish the rest of my skeleton being tracked was actually used. It took me just 2 days to get a 10pt skeleton rigging on an avatar in Unity.

I personally find if you put a tracker on a joint you won’t get as accurate of a reading you want to be as close to following a bone as you can for increased accuracy. If it’s near a joint it won’t follow any bone 1:1 and that isn’t what you want

For example if you put a tracker directly on your knee it’s rotation will just be a mix of your upper and lower leg

You want to affix it directly to either the tip of your shoe or around the middle of your shin so it follows your shoe or lower leg perfectly

The problem with Vive tracking positioning is that now programs have to derive the actual joint position from a tracker that isn't on that joint.

Joint like a foot are easy, being on the end of an effector chain

#

Also, the foot being small makes it possible to just pretend the entire bone is joint. Other joints don't have that luxury.

Yeah it was yellow, but they replaced it with the friend rank because it was pointless. The ranks were mostly for the trust system for blocking things, but since veteran and trusted were both the same for what showed, it changed

VR users with month to buy more hardware, if I was speaking from HTCs perspective. Definitely not barely pre-teens (or actual pre-teens) on desktop who are unlikely to ever be buying VR.
