I'm not saying this part is the best experience for everyone, VRChat is a special place - enjoy it how you want. FOR ME, VRChat is at it's best when I'm immersed with a group of people, having fun and joking around as I would in real life. When VRChat can strike closest to friends in reality, while removing a bit of the nervousness of being in front of people and also embracing silly avatars, that's when it's shines the brightest to me.
VRChat is the worst for me, when I'm on the outside, looking in on a group without being able to integrate myself with them - or when I'm just being spammed and crashed by people.

mutes vaguely relate to masks in real life. it's already hard to tell what the person is really feeling. Talking, especially tone - highly translates our intentions and passion. When you take it away, all you get is body language. A mute who is a desktop or without full body can be vaguely scary in a way. You don't know what they want, how they feel on the inside. You might even start to wonder who is behind that avatar. It's strange.
When I'm talking to someone, especially a vibrant or energetic personality, I almost relate their avatar to them more. I see less of who they are in real life and strangely find myself accepting their avatar as who they are. I don't know why my brain does this, but it does.

that's absolutely a thing. it's way more jarring when a mute player changes their usual avatar than when a speaking player does, because you have so few cues to relate them with their old identity

That's the problem with playing mute or TTS. The integrity of online interaction ultimately comes down to how much information is being transmitted. The maximum degree of information transfer we can achieve right now is verbal speech complemented with full-body tracking and maybe expressive avatars to cherry the top. But when you start watering down your capacity for information transfer by forgoing functions like verbal speech, you're impeding your information transfer. That's why they're not as easy to get along with.

The only thing I want to see reached, VR technology wise - is to be in like, oasis levels immersed. I just want the headset to be lighter, and less tunnel vision. Maybe haptics, but the biggest thing I want is to be comfortable. The less clunky the headset feels, the more comfortable we will be - which is closer to reality than anything else, in my opinion. (besides haptics I guess.)

The thing I still struggle with, that I always have and probably always will - is taking it personally. Friends online aren't always the same. Some of my online friends were probably my only, and best friends of all - losing some of them was hard. I started finding more groups, especially on VRchat, and realized that the relationships are more temporary than I should think. Have fun, explore, meet people - but there's no need to get so attached, at least for me. I'd always find people and try to stick only with them, because I'd be too scared to approach any more people. I'm learning to just expand off of that. I don't too much of a specific group anymore, and I think it's better for me this way.

The problem with this, is it's hard to find a focused group to talk to whenever you want. If you're not sticking to one group of people, and you're feeling extroverted at a certain time - you have to force yourself to explore other people to fill in that social gap.

You know unpopular opinion but what if you had a sort of creation tool for character customisation built into VRChat? Such as games like BDO sims any mmo in existence have? It means you could have people sell heads and bodies that are morphable and have clothes that can fit to any morph. This in turn means more security in the way of models but doesn’t limit the consumer. I mean you would essentially keep both options available but it might be a good idea for people who don’t know how to make models. Just thinking about VRChats general pop here

Normal use of VRChat. The left joystick just started to slowly drift. Got so bad, the vertical axis gets stuck 80% up or down when I tilt it up or down.
It's a very common issue sadly..
